The Ancient Mediterranean MOD

Aflac, please don't give up. Try loading the mod this way:

Start up a new game of CIV. Choose "Advanced" and then "Load a Mod." Find the TAM mod and select to load that one. It will ask you to restart the game, do so. Then, TAM should load. You can verify this by clicking on the Civilopedia and checking the TAM civilizations and units.

Try that much and let me know if you're successful.

Aflac, just to make sure...
When you unzip the downloaded file you get two (new) folders named "mods" and "public maps". Did you put the content of these folders in the original folders of the same name wich can be found in the civ4-folder?

well he said that -as written in the instructions- he extracted the 7zip into the main Civ4 folder, so there is no need to further copy the content of the mod and public map folders.

How about cement?

The exact formula was lost when the Roman empire fell apart, but supposedly they added some volcanic ash. The result was a much stronger concrete which even cured under water. It should double construction speed (or simply allow the construction) of the Colloseum/Flavian Ampitheater, and speed up the aquaduct as well.

Yeah I have been thinking about that as well.

Basically there could be two two techs:
Concrete: prerequisites perhaps Alchemy and something else.
The Arch: prerequisites Concrete and perhaps something else.

Concrete could generally speed up building production speed, and give +2 road movement.
The Arch could allow bridge building and the aquaduct.
So they could basically replace the IMHO rather generic sounding bridge building and road building techs.

A little link for a bit more info.

God damn, I love this mod! The ancient times are the best suited for the Civilization games.

Can't wait for the next versions! Great job, lads!

Is this for Civ4 or civ 3???oh yah this is my 100th post!!!!Yahh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thamis,

I am quite addicted to your Ancient Med MOD and have had countless hours of enjoyment trying it on dif maps etc.. So thank you!

I am curious and hopeful that perhaps you would consider undertaking a Crusades MoD?

The possibilites are endless really, and alot of historical and creative license could be taken to make it fit within the confines of whats available in Civ 4.

In addition it would seem to pick up where this mod currently ends, with the religous aspects of Civ4 it just fits right in I really hope you consider it.

Thanks

I am have truble understanding this and how to download this could someone help me???

The names of the barbarian cities can turn out to be quite amusing...
I was playing as the Myceneans and was exploring the Iberian peninsula, when I accidently stumbled across the barbarian city of..."Mycenean"
The city was only guarded by a badly wounded archer, so my tribal warrior managed to conquer the city and the colonists was brought back under the rule of king Agamemnon. ;)

Pretty much like the first settlers in America who "took of from Plymouth and landed in Plymouth. How lucky is that?" :D (quote from Mr Izzard again.)

 Ingvina Freyr

TheLopez helped me out with defining dictionaries, so now we have a new feature in TAM meant to help sway historical religions. At the beginning of the game, every civilization is randomly given a percentage of points towards the technology that directly founds "their" religion, based on culture-group divisions. The following civilizations have a chance of gaining 0-80% of the tech points for the following technologies:

- Britons, Gaul, Iberia: Tribal Law (Animism)
- Illyria, Lydia, Mycenae, Rome: Priesthood (Olympian Gods)
- Babylon, Hittites, Kolchis, Persia: Astrology (Mesopotamian Gods)
- Carthage, Egypt, Nubia, Phoenicia: Polytheism (Heliopolitan Gods)
- Media, Persia: Philosophy (Zoroastrianism)

This is meant to be a compromise; realistic religions will be slightly swayed, but it's still possible for an Iberian to discover Mesopotamian Gods, for example. The following civilizations have not been assigned techs yet:

Germanic Tribes
Getae (Dacia)
Scythia
Goths

What do you guys suggest? (Christianity is barred from the list of possibilities and I don't think any of these fit for Judaism).

Yes, we should look into that.

One idea would be to simply give all barbarian cities a generic name (Tribe), and then write a python script that when that city is captured, the next city from the city list of conquering nation is used to rename that barbarian city. What do you think? Is that possible?

Hey, I played this mod a couple times through and it is really cool. When I tried to play it with multiplayer hotseat, though, it had a list of maps to choose from, and the ancient mediterranean map wasn't on the list. Does anyone know if it is possible to play this mod using hotseat? Thanks.

99 bloomin' pages!!
And this mod deserves it. Perhaps one of the best to date! :D

Make sure the map is in the 'Public Maps' folder. When I installed it the first time, I had to readjust the location of files because I chose a different install path.
Hotseat in Civ4 is notoriously difficult for playing scenarios. I've tried to load it and had the game crash, but maybe that's just because I'm running an inferior computer. ;) Anyway, that's the best I can offer.
