The Ascent of Mankind

Those images are very beautiful. I snaffled almost all of them immediately :)

Heh, yea they're also my desktop backgrounds, and since I have Windows 7 it goes through all the pictures I select every 30 min.:D
EDIT: Okay, so there's a good chance that the screen will not be in the first alpha version not only for the deadline that I set for myself but for testing reasons too.

Brilliant, I'll do that on my Mac (FYI WinBlows stole it from Mac)

It is now my desktop :D

After you said this I made example number 2 my desktop wallpaper.

I'm nearly done with the techs, just needs placing and prereq connections.

Awesome!

Oh also if Afforess can work it could could we use his "Goods" system of resources now that we know that adding additional resources messes things up?

However since more slot will open up for the map spawning resources when he makes the "Goods" I think we should reserve a spot for the "alien outbreak" resource which is based around the Alpha Centauri Red Fungal Bloom.

1. That's the plan

2. Sure thing since that resource of yours i'm guessing is going to spawn on the map, right? Unless you want it to actually "move" with the iSpread tag and using python to treat it like a resource when it's a good.

Today's the big day, the first Alpha version of ATOM has been released! Remember this is an Alpha version so it is by no means anything like a beta or final release and will have TXT_KEY's missing and errors popping up.

I have built this with AND recommended install setup, the bare minimum that will be needed (as far as I know) will be the sports mod and the weather mod. On start up there should be five XML errors, ignore them since they are fixed but the load order makes them pop up anyway, they will stop showing around Alpha v. 0.0.10

EDIT: Due to the amount of time that this mod will take to be released as a final version it will be put on hold indefinitely until the Civ5 release. At that time the mod will continue development as a Civ5 mod and possibly a modmod for something that Afforess or Zappara may release. The reason why I am stopping now is that when this mod does finally come around to a final release, Civ5 will already be out and due to probable code handling changes it will need to be completely redone from scratch. It is better to stop now with a clear goal ahead than attempt to achieve it then have to re-achieve it.

Seeing as how I have nothing better to do and have reflected on this mod for some time, I have decided to continue progress but instead of the original intended mod, I will be cutting it up into many smaller mini mods that will be radically stripped down. This will not only release more content to play with for the game but also allow some reflection on some features, techs and allow user input on how it may be improved for the impending Civ 5 version.

Since this will be a series of mini mods, I was thinking that the screen will be excluded initially as the first mods will be techs, buildings and basic units. Next will be more buildings, units, guilds/religions/corporations (late game science oriented). Then finally will come the screen, the only difference is that this will NOT be the spacepedia, but rather just a list of planets that you know, simple as that. Next will come the aliens, the extra alien civs, their buildings, techs, resources, and features. If Civ 5 isn't out by then, then I'll do whatever is the popular demand.

I was thinking that you could skip it since it would be included in this mod anyway.

Or that. I just want to make sure it gets into AND and is not abandoned. If you promise to include as your first AtoM mini-Mod then I will take it out of my science mod.

EDIT: Also the Xenobiology Lab probably would be better in this mod.

Well I already have my technologies written out for the most part, next step is buildings, and if you are up to the challenge with your XML skills, you could help me make the mini mods, but of course before we do that I have to go through what's already written and upgrade it for RoM 2.9 + AND 1.7.
