The Biggest, Baddest Unit

Don't make fun of the GDR's understanding of physics. He doesn't take criticism well.

what's he gonna do, come to my house and gun me down?

And I think the movies Robocop and Return of the Jedi taught us the disadvantage of two legged robots. I can take these robots on no problem.

Did you read my post? The one where I explained why they'd need a reason for it to be optional?

It was pretty clear. Seriously, go back and read it. It's on the previous page.

One option that I do consider reasonable though would be one to stop before the future age. This would actually affect gameplay and not be based entirely on 'taste'.

Calm down m8, calm down.

I mean your proposal is still just basicly another way of making GDRs and other scifi units optional (among other things also).

I dont care HOW do they make scifi units optional as long as they make em optional and that is what i was asking for.

When im looking at your picture that you posted, then to me it looks like your the one who is a bit too serious about this one ;)

Bit too much lipstick perhaps? :D

I guess humor is not for everyone... :mischief:

Apparently you're not the most important customer... :mischief:

It's a shame people can't understand what your name means.

My point was that repeating the same thing a thousand times without providing a reason or justification is not a discussion. It's just shouting. If you would like to have a discussion about this, by all means, post away, but please do not attempt to be heard solely through the sheer number of posts.

I'd say we're a lot closer to building giant death robots than getting to Alpha Centauri. Your realism conplaints fall on death ears, naysayers.

Agreed, honestly. The way of the future.. the way of the future..

Yeah humor is certainly not for everyone as you stated :D Im not sure are you seeing it the way i am but i doubt that

Im not the most important customer, you are :mischief:

Ill have a little secret just for you: aziantuntija is not my real name :) But if you know what that means then you must be also from Finland :)

In the end i must say that it really leaves me wondering what do you guys loose if scifi units were to be made optional? Demanding that scifi units MUST NOT be optional sounds very stupid to me, nobody hasnt even told me WHY they cant be somehow made optional.

Im being quoted alot so im just answering those posts. Im very sorry if to you it looks like im repeating myself.

If it bothers you too much then i would suggest that you wouldnt read my posts at all.

EDIT: Im also pretty sure im not the one shouting here :mischief:

Sorry for being misunderstood and perhaps a little aggressive. It's not that you're making a lot of posts, it's that you haven't expanded on your original argument, simply repeated it, after it has been refuted.

I understand your point. You dislike the flavour of mechs and scifi units. It's just some people have attempted to discuss this taste rather than simply be heard.

You'll all be eating your words when both the US and Japan reveal their own actual GDRs a week before the game is released.

Ok this unit is cool. But how are people supposed to run it with the ridiculous specs posted on http://www.extremetech.com/slideshow/0,2850,l%253D253362%2526a%253D253367,00.asp

Those are crazy! Thas not scalable! WTH!

Derailing the topic much?

But I can't resist, there's really no plausible way that those would be the minimum requirements. That would make civ pretty much the most demanding game ever produced. They were talking about making it playable on fairly low end laptops (without a dedicated gpu) so I'd imagine that even with a basic graphics card one will at least be able to run the game.

Yeah, sorry for derailing the topic everyone! This article just pissed me off so much by this! Alot of people I know read this and decided they probably wont buy it. Its crazy. Sorry, I needed to rant

That isn't an official requirements at all. That's just what they recommended for this build- aka, what could run it at higher settings smoothly in an unoptimized build. It's rather unprofessional of them to publish that really, as it gives a false impression.

Sure you can see it any way you want, as long as you're happy... :D

Im not the most important customer, you are :mischief:

Well I certainly am! :smug: But I don't remember demanding to change something in the game based on my likings...

Ill have a little secret just for you: aziantuntija is not my real name :) But if you know what that means then you must be also from Finland :)

It's not your real name!? Ei voi olla totta!

Did you read the post where I said that limiting eras (not units) would be nice? "I would love to be stuck in classical era."
That option makes sense and many people will agree. I can't agree on removal of units.
Archers firing arrows over lakes are not really realistic nor historical, hence I want them out or them to be optional!
Oh don't you worry there buddy, I'm 80% sure they'll make some kind of an option for "realistic" people. I mean the amount of whi... disagreeing about the unit just can't go unnoticed.

You know there is a thread about system requirements that you started yourself?

YES! CONGRAZULATIONS YOU HAVE GOT IT! :goodjob:

Kauan sullakin kesti :)

 You have obviously missed this

If mechs are in base game, i propably want a option to stop going further in technology at the era that i choose. I might want to try them out but i definetly would like the option that i told.

I posted again in this thread.

Get it now? :)

I dont care HOW do they make scifi units optional as long as they make em optional and that is what i was asking for.

How about now? :)

Lets look this again:

Yeah humor is certainly not for everyone as you stated :D Im not sure are you seeing it the way i am but i doubt that

:mischief:

I just dont understand what are you complaining about  This is just crazy

Why would I post on a dead thread?
And I apologized for derailing the thread.

I'm more astounded that this of all threads, is one of the longer threads in the Civ5 forum. Why is this a big deal?

- I've seen people complain that one unit ruins the whole game.

- I've seen people say they will not buy this game anymore because of this one unit.

- I've seen no argument against the GDR that has a whole lot of merit(beyond opinion, because each argument based on this has an equal and just as absurd counter) or logic.

I don't really get it. It's one unit at the end of the game folks. One unit. Optionally built. End of game. In line with other future(read: plausible if not realistic) tech.

??????????????????

??????????????????

I like what ive heard about civ5 exept i dont like these scifi units but im still buying the game. Infact i have pre ordered it long time ago and im not going to change it no matter what.

I have not said it is going to ruin the whole game or anything like that, i have just simply said that i dont like to have scifi units in a civ game. Just by choosing not to build them sounds pretty stupid if your enemy is building them so that is not a solution to anything.

It IS just our opinion that we dont like scifi units in a civ game of course it is. But you must also understand that loving scifi units in civ game is ALSO just a opinion and there is NOTHING more to back it up.

Scifi units are so dramatic change to the series that Firaxis MUST somehow make them optional. As i told everyone before, im personally fine with the option to stop the game advancing in choosen era, it sounds very good.
