 You are a funny little guy SickFak

If you would even look at the dates when ive posted this then you would propably understand something

So its not exactly a new thing for me. Just go to that thread and look at the date of that post :p No it wasnt today :p

If you would just understand what im saying here we wouldnt need to continue this discusson.

What a funny little guy you are :crazyeye:

Yes, the post you posted () IN ANOTHER THREAD, in which I didn't participate or abandoned it, who knows, I don't keep track. If I was participating in this thread, I'd have agreed with you on the matter of limiting the eras earlier yes. Actually there was a poll IIRC (or maybe just a thread) about limiting eras (had nothing to do with GDR) in which I voted YES.
Your point? Everyone reads all your posts on every freaking thread? Should I remind you again that the world does not circulates around you... ;)

And no, it's not a new thing for you. :p It is a new thing for you on this thread it seems. :p
Let me count it for ya: It took you 6 pages, 17 posts and 2 infractions, before you mentioned this post of yours from another thread... :p (Which is after I wrote this: "Making eras optional is a good idea though. I would love to be stuck in classical era...")

Moderator Action: *snip*

BTW: "What a funny little guy you are"??? Seriously? You have some issues with your body or something?

:agree:

Oh come on J  It was just a question... Can't I fight fire with fire?

Though I agree I got carried away a little there. And for that I apologize.

Looks like somebody needs to chill out a bit :mischief:

Look, i dont want scifi units in civ game and i just dont understand why you are so upset about that, its kind of ridiculous :mischief:

Nothing wrong with my puntcuiation. :(

Anyone still think GDR's shouldn't be in the game obviously is immune to logical thought. The GDR's will soon make them extinct, along with other pre-hostoric beliefs such as religion and human rights.

If you want to have "end the tech tree at point X" theirs no need to only ask for Sci-fi to be removed but perhaps as well as a starting tech we can choose what tech to go up to, ofcourse this has "balance" issues which is a reason to niether allow a "remove X unit" button or "limit techs to X" button. But that doesn't mean it can't be put in, the game developers would have no reason to, but perhaps if they are bored and have run out of logical and useful changes to make to the game, perhaps indeed you will get what you want.

May GDR be with you, for God certainly won't.

BTW: "What a funny little guy you are"??? Seriously? You have some issues with your body or something?

Well i dont think so m8, im just saying that for fun i guess. :) I didnt mean it personally or anything but it would be very interesting to hear how did you come up with that kind of conclusion  Ive got a good guess

Scifi units are so dramatic change to the series that Firaxis MUST somehow make them optional. As i told everyone before, im personally fine with the option to stop the game advancing in choosen era, it sounds very good.

Oh yes, because they certainly haven't made any other dramatic changes to Civ 5, at all.

Oh yes, because they certainly haven't made any other dramatic changes to Civ 5, at all.

Well if you put all the gameplay changes to the same category that some scifi units then i suppose that you are right. But i personally wouldnt pile them in the same category when talking about this thing, for instance scifi units are not as essential as 1upt system or hexagonial tiles. They are just units, stupid units but still just units.

Ha ! You got me.

Preorder is in..Boy have I mellowed, it only took the GDR to wipe away all my fears of shiny new game mechanics.

Never fear the developers with a sense of humor.

Good for you! :goodjob:

Why does this transformer get a penalty for attacking cities!? In my mind the only, slightest, use for a thing like this would have been in urban warfare. In open terrain it would be completely useless, since it supplies a willing target. One Rocket Propelled Grenade to one of its legs sends it crumbling down. It should have a bonus for city fighting, but penalty for fighting in open terrain; like on plains and grassland. Perhaps give it bonus for fighting in wooded terrain as well.

It must also be super slow in open terrain, since it obviously needs a team of fifty maintenance workers along. Due to its weight, it should also be pretty much unmaneuverable. It's power source would prolly have to be recharged every ten minutes too. How much do they cost to build? They should need to be really expensive, though. What are its advantages over a regular and real armoured vehicle?

 What a useless unit.

:hmm: I say this:

Though I agree I got carried away a little there. And for that I apologize.

Then you say this:

Then this:

If this is the case then im sorry to hear that.. ..i guess :(

Well  anyway :)

How so very sad of you, I don't know if I should laugh or cry...

And it's funny how you ignored the rest of this post:

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this. As I said Robocop and Return of the Jedi show the limitations of 2 legged robotic mechs/vehicles. And those movies utilize realistic physics ;). JK

But yes one rpg and the thing is toast. If you look at what the military is doing with drone and mech technology it doesn't involve 2 or even 4 legs. It involves tracked vehicles and insect like vehicles.

Maybe a more universally appealing direction to go for 'future weapons' would have been to include existing technology - which already goes beyond the most advanced units we saw in Civ4 - and maybe extrapolate slightly, rather than just make something up.

Um... isn't that what they're doing?

We've already got military robots. Granted, most of them are wheeled or tracked, but we do have autonomous quadrapeds and legged power equipment coming up soon. And bipedal robots are also on the horizon.

And based on its appearance, it's not "giant" enough to violate the square/cube law.

It amuses me people are getting so upset. I'm sure this is a joke. If it isn't, I hope they at least change the name to something more serious.

I can live with GDR. The main mind-boggling thing about it is that it requires Nuclear Fusion and Uranium, though logic defying, probably needed for balance reasons. Uranium use could probably be handwaved somehow anyways.

And for those who don't like bipedal robots, there's nothing a graphic mod can't fix.

I'M REALLY ANGRY ABOUT A SINGLE UNIT IN A GAME I HAVEN'T PLAYED YET! EVERYONE INDULGE ME WHILE I YELL THAT FIRAXIS MUST CHANGE THE GAME TO SUIT ME!

/snark

That's all I saw for 15 pages in this thread. Yes, it is so ridiculous that I have come out of lurker status to comment on it. Let me just say this ... "FUTURE" era. What units will we have in the future? No one knows, but Firaxis has to put something in there. Why not a Giant Death Robot? How could this possibly be a bad thing? It's a complete *game* not just one unit. It's all balanced to include the GDR.

Why must people rush to condemn things? Why must haters hate?

This aspect of the human psyche I just don't understand.

And for people WHO LOVE Bipedal Robots, a mod could be made to turn everything into a mech :).

Also "Why do GDR's get a penalty against cities"

Obviously all cities have Giant Laser Cannons by this point purely designed to destroy slow moving gigantic objects. Obviously isn't it. Now don't you feel silly.

P.s that Asimo looks so human like eh, thats the robot they plan to take to the moon aye, a lovely creation, just create a much bigger version, stick in a nuclear generator for power and some large weaponary and bam! Giant Death Robot.
