The Civ 5 C&C Off-Topic Thread

Tbh, it's odder to consider England, Wales, Scotland, and France as countries first, as they all share UK sovereignty, whereas the Isle of Man doesn't.
*trigger warning*

JFD confirmed as a man living in an alternate reality where England won the Hundred Years War.

Feh, "Technically", but we have our own laws, parliament, currency, passport etc.

The Queen is Lord of Mann, so I'll give you that one. :)

I think I know who you mean, was he the one who died recently?

That would be Stuart Baggs, "The Brand", yes. Nil nisi bonum and all that.

We didn't even need to win the HYW, just for Henry V to significantly outlive Charles the Mad. :)

... France? Did I miss something recently?

Also, we all know Poland blows all other modding countries out of the water anyways.

Why are there there non C&C people invading our off-topic thread?
go away, you non-modders!

How dare you insult the sovereignty of His Majesty's realm! Louis XIV is quite disappointed in this lowly Emperor.

Really good DOM material right here

He's some insane bloke from Maryland who is descended from the Stanleys, he's been trying to claim kingship for years, though to be fair the only reason the queen owns the Island is because it was sold to the crown in 1765, not so much via inheritance

I believe your polling-data is still somewhat innaccurate as to those mod-makers residing within the US. I don't believe I saw Nutty mentioned and I believe he is resident in California...
Vice is also from the US, I believe, as I am (but I have already been mentioned in the straw poll), which as I recall was the fundamental reason we were on Modcast together. RawSasQuatch I am unsure of. ISNorden is from Wisconsin or Michigan but she hasn't been active for quite some time.

Although only one person, William Howard skews the balance of Civ5's modding 'home' all by himself to epicenter 'near Portsmouth, UK' to such a degree that all of us except Rob and a few lucky other residents of the True Isle must feel as if we are displaced foriegners struggling to construct a World Wonder in a far away land.

Well, having it be Crown property or it being part of the private property of one of your nobles within your kingdom is a very slender difference.

RawSasquatch's from Los Angeles, I believe.

Yeah, though IOM is a bit of a weird case, it's almost always had its own laws on land ownership etc., compared to the rest of the country.

There's all sort of peculiar oddities around the Isles, e.g. on the island of Sark (in the Channel Islands), it wasn't until 1991 (I think it was) that it was even possible for a man to be considered guilty of sexually assaulting his wife.

"In August 1990, an unemployed French nuclear physicist named André Gardes armed with a semi-automatic weapon attempted an invasion of Sark. The night Gardes arrived, he put up two posters declaring his intention to take over the island the following day at noon. The following day he started a solo foot patrol in front of the manor in battle-dress with weapon in hand. While sitting on a bench, changing the gun's magazine and waiting for noon to arrive, the island's volunteer constable approached the Frenchman and complimented Gardes on the quality of his weapon.[14] Gardes then showed the gun to the constable, who took it and arrested Gardes.[15][16] Gardes attempted a comeback the following year, but was intercepted in Guernsey."
