The Civs in the next expansion pack

The Borg would be a space age Barbarian Horde! :o

*makes plans for a Borg-invade-the-Earth scenario*

I would like the following: South Africa with Nelson Mandela as Leader CI
Venezuela with Chavez MI and Bolivar MC as leaders
Then North Korea with KIM Jong Il CI
Definitly the Israelites with leader Sharon

hmm dont know more

Expansion 1:

Turks (Mehmet 2, suleyman the wise) UU - Jannisary
Celts (Brennus, Vercingtrix(sp?)) UU - Gallic Swordsman
Norse (Knut, Ragnar) UU - Berserker
Khmer UU - Pk'ak Elephant
Mesopotamians (Hammurabi) UU - Sumerian Phalanx (inc babylon, sumer, etc)
Koreans UU - Hwrang Archer
Phonecians (Hannibal) UU - Sacred Band Spearman
Israelis (Solomon, David) UU - Macabee

Expansion 2:

Zulu (Shaka) UU - Impi Spearman
Iroquois (Hiawatha) UU - Iroquois archer
Dutch (William of Orange)
Siam
Mayans UU - Javelin Archer
Polynesia
Hittites
Polish

Expansion 3:

Portugul
Dai Viet/Vietnamese
Italians (Medieval --> Modern)
Byzantines
Hungarians
Navajo
Brazillians
Indonesians

I'll just parse my words from another thread here concerning expansion civs>>>

My guesses of the 6 civs:

1. Maya/Iroquois/Sioux
2. Korea/Khmer/Siam
3. Babylon/Sumeria/Assyria
4. Turks/Ottomans
5. Carthage/Phoenicia/Israel
6. Vikings/Celts/a Modern European Nation

If they decide to go with 8 new civs (a total of 26 is as even as 18):

7. a second European civ, see #6 (They put more emphasis on Europe than I like).
8. a second African civ, third including Egypt, forth if Carthage is in.

<<<Are these fair assumptions?
Mine mostly coincide with yours, Dracleath. This is a good thing.
I'm not too good at judging what the UUs of each civ should be. As far as I am concerned each civ would has a range of options.

I'd hope they go with at least 8. 8 was the civ3 standard and I'd hate for them to go to all the trouble of putting 2 extra civs into the basic game over the civ3 base just to lose the ground in an xp :).

I think turks celts and vikings are probably definately in because those are probably going to be the most requested as people are used to playing as them and I think they'll get a lot of requests. Koreans probably will get in for the same reason. Also some mesopotamian civilization, probably babylonians or mesopotamians as a while being one civ.

That leaves 3 wild card picks for the first expansion by my reasoning.

The civilizations that should be included in the next expansion pack are almost too many to mention, but I agree with some of the earlier comments that some of the more modern nations such as Italy, Turkey, etc. should be left out. Having the Romans and the Ottomans makes a lot more sense..

Anyway, here's my list..
- Ottomans
- Carthage
- Vikings
- Native Americans (Cherokee, etc.)
- Zulu
- Dutch (Yes, I know.. It's my national bias.. Hey, we should've been included in the first expansion pack of Civ3 too!)

Those are basic ones I can think of.. There should be others too, but at the moment I'm not feeling very creative.. ;)

Celtic/Irish

And for new leaders, they should add Khomeini to Persia, although if you are the King of Persia, having Khomeini's picture pop up would be bad news for you the player :P

there are so many better people to portray Persia. Arash, Ardeshir, Nader Shah, lol. Khomeini should be the last person they choose to portray Persia.

As much as I acknowledge the positive contribution of the list of 3 you provided (hey, how about Avicenna as some kind of advisor? That would be cool), the problem is, only you, me and a select few would recognize them.

I'm sure several people of Chinese background would probably be very hesitant to playing Civ IV, playing as Mao Tse Dong, but I don't think the designers look at the effects of the impact an individual of great fame has made on a society so much as "was there a significant impact?"

good point (Yeah i would love to see Avicienna or some of the other scientific minds in that game.)

I say we should have a civ from every continent, thus we need a polynesian, indonesian, or australian type civ. I'd be happy with just a modern "Australia" civ.
I would also love to see the Hittites. they are a little obscured by history, but in their day they were great conquerers, the first true users of iron, equals with egypt, and a sacker of Babylon.

My picks, in order from best to worst(though none are bad) are:
Australia
Carthage
Hittites
Vikings
Babylon
Celts
Another american civ. My choice would be canada. I've always wanted to see canada conquer the world, who would've expected it?
Another african civ

i always thought the abe lincoln picture from civ 3 kinda looked like chretien. so i changed the name and I ended up invading the world with canada a couple times, .

Yes, I've always thought Mao's inclusion rather strange as well. Why avoid Hitler and Stalin, then? Why not include Cambodia and Pol Pot?
Or, of course, leave them all four out.:)

Whoa, now, let's see how the current traits work before proposing new ones, eh what?

That being said, I definitely want the Dutch back in the second expansion set. The Dutch are cool.

And new German leader: Erich Ludendorff (Aggressive, Organized). He was the REAL leader of Germany at the end of WWI -- and the Germans came much closer to winning that war than WW2!

Russia is no longer Communist and Germany is no longer Nazi. If the Chinese leader was Chaing Ki-Shek the game wouldn't be allowed into China. That is why the leader is Mao.

The fact that he lost, well, nearly the whole country to the communists kinda makes him not that good of a leader, either, I suppose... ('Course, I guess you could say the same for Napoleon....)

1. Babylon
2. Habsburg Austria (Hey, that was quite a mighty and big civilization!)
3. The Vikings
4. Ottomans
5. Native America
6. The SWISS!!! (with a strong diplomatic bonus: civs are not able to declare war against them. Switzerland must attack first!)
