Ave, True to Caesar!
Hello everyone, welcome to my second story The Conquest of Justinian: The Tale of Byzantium, note that i've never actually set through a single game of rfc or any of it's mod mods, the farthest ive gotten in one is an arab game where i conquered europe, north africa, and Mesopotamia, but rage quit 1 turn after the seljuk spawn.
But i will sit through this one, even if My death is imminent, anyhoo let's get started
For nearly a millenia, the roman empire ruled the known world, but civil wars had become commonplace in the later centuries of it rule, with the empire splitting, After the emperor Constantine had conquered the eastern roman empire, his ruled prospered, but on his deathbed, he had 3 request, to be baptized into the catholic faith, to have the empire split in two, and to have the eastern empire, in case of western roman collapse, lead civilization out of any dark dark ages, to the light. Then, The Greatest Roman Emperor of them all, slipped into the void, and ascended to the holy realm of heaven, to be a leader among even the angels of god.
And so a great empire had begun...
"Constantius!" said a young boy, around the age of 1,
"Yesmahmyboiboy?" asked Constanius, the second byzantine emperor, after Constantine
"Are you going to beat those Achaemenid scum, mother said that your leading the legions today?"
"Why yes, I need to assert my political influence, so leading the men will be needed" said a rather glum Constanius
"Alright father, see you at dinner!"
Little did he know that his father would suffer a wound in this battle that would cause unbearable pain to Constanius II until his death in 361 A.D.
Years later, Constanius's son, Constans I, would lead troops in independent eygpt, in order to gain land, it would later be realized it was useless to keep.
Constatans I war journal - "It was a bloody battle, our legion, consisting of only 4000 men, 2000 to little, marched on the town of Thebes, we won the battle against the Aegyption Axemen, but only barley."
This legion would die in a later battle ,that Constans would not fight in, against thebes.
Roman Equestrian Units were making an entrance onto the field at this time, these would one day return in a cartoon called "My Little Legion:Conquest is Magic", this cartoon and their fans "Bronies" would one day control the empire
mischief
On other fronts, attacks were being made on other targets, towns being crushed under the boots of the legions
Suddenly, persia capitulated to western rome, the byzantines decided in following years, to take down the 2 strongest empires in the world.
"We decided to march on roman babylon, as our legions, each containing 6000 men for a grand total of 24000 legionaires, marched on the city, the battle was over by sundown, and the city was byzantine! We had knocked rome down a notch, know it was time for italia..."Quote Marc Antony's book "My Gift to Cleo, Babylon, the City of Baby Making
"
As the navy readied to invade itailia, western Rome's navy took them head on, and beat them using a byzantine invention, the dromon, a galley utilizing Greek fire.
in 590 A.D., the first Byzantine cataphracts invaded persia...
"As the year 600 A.D. came to a close, the naval loses from ten years ago caused the Trireme Coup, which collapsed the roman empire, which opened up a great byzantine opportunity..."-A line from Justinian I's Book The Conquest of Italia and Rise of The Byzantine Imperium
In the same year, a byzantine Calvary charged was done, the Cataphract would see it first battle, and it would be victorious!
and they charged again, and won again, proving that byzantine calvary was Superior
As a new arab nation rose, the Byzantines needed a buffer and peace, so they gave persia some land to hold of arabia, this would prove an ever greater idea in the Seljuk invasion of Mesopotamia later on.
The byzantine calvary charge on Northern Italy was a huge success, and it was one of justinian's first battles (note: justinian is the great general unit in the right side of the screen)
As the byzantine armies mobilized, they planned to capture rome and create a European empire, that would one day rule the world (or fail horribly, i don't know yet
)
The charge of roma was a success, the byzantines now controlled the eternal city itself.
"Soldiers usally win battles and generals usally get the credit for them"- Justinian I, after the battle of neapolis (Napoleon copied HIM
!)
heres my civics
"We have done well" said justinian while looking at a map of his empire "But there is more expansion to be done, we must regain the holy land!"
and so another couple of centuries of intrigue was to come...

But i will sit through this one, even if My death is imminent, anyhoo let's get started
