Don't watch either very much, but Colbert seems kind of weak to me. Daily Show isn't as good as it was either (went downhill after Colbert left), but still the better of the two.

I like the Daily Show a bit more, but they're collectively the only two (daily) shows that my wife and I watch in the evening on anything like a regular basis. Carlos Mencia, Battlestar Galactica, Boston Legal, and House being the rest of the lineup, although weekly in all cases.

Daily Show is amazing, but i really miss classic "This Week in God", Colbert was much better then the rest of the DS cast at doing that segment. Colbert Report is very funny, but i think Colbert was funnier as a fake correspondent, then a fake anchor. :p

When the Daily Show made fun of what was funny it WAS funny. When they tried to turn it into an advocacy for the liberal agenda.

The Colbert Report never WAS funny.

Both have their moments (rarely), but its not enough to actually watch them.

Don't like either that much but Daily show is a tad bit more palletable.

Really? I don't catch the DS too often now but it seemed to me that John Stewart never pulled any punches when it came to the Democrats and other liberals. I know that he makes fun of the republicans more, but aren't they the ones in power...?

Stewart's hits on the Democrats were what he was referring to when he said they had their moments occasionally. ;)

"It's only funny if I agree..."

They are both equally great and both very funny, but The Daily Show is better because it has more vareity.

The Daily Show was better with Colbert, but even without him it is still better than the Colbert Report.

I cringe every time I hear Colbert say "Colber Repor". Is that supposed to be poking fun at something..? Like a southern way of saying something with a silent T or something?

As for which show I prefer - I find Stewart to be more consistent, but every once in a while Colbert gives us a gem. If I watch one - I'll watch the other.

I suppose he uses the French pronunciation of his last name, and has done so at least going back a couple years on the Daily Show.

I enjoy the Daily Show on occassion. The only time I watched the Colbert Report it was pretty lame, like he was trying too hard.

Nope. I can find comedian completely funny even if I disagree with them completely. Lewis Black is a big liberal and I love it when he does comedian. Carlos Menia I find funny as well and he is liberal as well on many issues. Saturday Night Live is frequently liberal (although they are more even handed) and I find those jokes funny as well.

What do all those have in common? They lead with the impression that they are independent and will tell me what they really think. Stewart and Colbert both seem like party hacks.

Look at the content of the DS when it makes fun of Democrats. It only exists in 2 contexts: The Democrats not doing anything and the Democrats not achieving anything. This is far from equal opportunity- the style of comedy I perfer.

I just think comedians should stick to whats fun and stay away from trying to be political machines.

The Daily Show is much funnier than the Colbert Report.

My appologies. I didn't mean to single you out, it was more of a general statement about people

But that's just it, what else can he make fun of?! They have virtually no power and do nothing with the clout that they have. It's like trying to make fun of a rock...

I've never seen the Colbert Report and I'm not sure I could pick him out of a lineup, but I haven't seen the Daily Show in years. If Colbert is who I think he is, he was my least favorite part of the Daily Show, so I'll go with it . . .

That may be the longest post ever to not actually contribute anything to the conversation :/
