Everyone! Please look in the event thread to see if your character has died or not. 13 turns have passed in the demogame.

Stuk Aza Peesea walks up to the hut of Markus Vivano and enters it
Aza: Hello, Markus. I was too young to remember when I saw you last.
Markus: Yes, I remember you. You were the toddler we picked up upon dispersing a barbarian encampment.
Aza: I was just wondering if you'd accept this petition.
Aza hands Markus a petition requesting more time to hunt rather than work in mines and farms for the whole day
Markus: I don't think I can do this. We need you to...
Markus never got to finish his sentence. As he read the petition, Aza pulls out the flint knife that was once a possession of John W. Boots. With a quick jabbing motion, Aza stabs Markus in the heart with the knife.
Markus: Aaah! I'm dying!
Markus drops to the ground, dead.
Aza: With the frail old despot dead, I hereby proclaim myself the new despot of our fair nation! I am promoting myself to High Gentry, and I will be our leader from this point forward!

Narration: And so the powerstruggle begins. There was infact, a 2nd character who claimed that he already struck the fatal blow before Aza killed the despot... The vacuum begins...

*Vincent is sitting inside of his house when he hear the news of the the despot*

Vincent: Yet another...

Darci: There is not much we can do about it though, but try to make the best of it!!

Vincent: Yes... I know... I know... but... argh.... I'm a military strategists!! If only I had troops to led!! I could overthrow the despot....

Darci: That would be a very un-wise move though. What if you fail?

Vincent: I don't care... I'm just tired of this lifestyle.... I could care less what happens... If even the despot hires me to work for him. I just want something to change about this.

Darci: Yes, I know, but what about everyone else? All our friends?

Vincent: Screw them... Let's worry about ourselves now.

Darci: How can you say that??!!

Vincent: We have to worry about ourselves... and the baby.

*Vincent watchs as Darci storms away in anger*

Antonius is there...
Antonius: I was the one who killed the despot! I fled the scene because I heard someone coming, and the someone was Aza! I had a posion covered knife, and thought to stab him in the heart, but found his stomach. By the time Aza stabed him, the posion would have started taking effect, the despot was dead before he died! and I have proof!

Antonius shows a stab wound in the former despot's stomach. Everyon gasps.

Antonius: I should be the rightful despot! So I challenge you, Aza, to a duel to the death, and victor becomes despot!

OOC: Conflict manager, you take over if Aza accepts the challenge. I think it should be by stats...

(Nambanoldo takes to the soapbox for the last time...)

(The scene is the Noshuret square, Nambanoldo standing on the podium formerly used by Markus. Stuck is standing in the assembled crowd, bodyguards, little more than thugs, surrounding him.)

Namba: People of Noshuret! Our Despot, Stuck aza Peesea, has recently claimed to have killed Markus Viviano, and earned his place as Despot! But I have this to say to you! What you do not know is that my son, Poldohtar Taurnaina, landed the true killing blow, an arrow into Markus' back! So HE should be the true Despot! I implore you, ---- Ack! (Gurgling noises, then he slumps over, three arrows protruding from his chest. Stuck takes the podium...)

Stuck: People of Noshuret! I am your Despot! These are lies! Now! Get back to your work, and stop this petty bickering over your leader!

(Back at Namba's hut...)

Poldo: Mom dead this winter... Dad dead now... And it's all Stuck's fault! Stuck must die...

EDIT: Ack! Simul-post! Can I get the credit since I posted the information about the death first, in my thread? Or did it have to be here?

Sage Atrous: Noshuretians! These fools who claim the seat of power are no more deserving of the position than a mule. I am the rightful despot, I am the rightful ruler!

*A group of Sages dart out of the corners, weapons trained at the false despots*

Good thing Poldohtar's back at the hut.

Jason: Now let's try to stay calm. Now we don't nessesarily need to have a huge brawl. We all know how great I am and that I would win. I propose we end all of this fighting with a race. The fastest among us will become the despot. Oh and by the way, I should be the despot, because I'm the greateset person here.

Aza: The claims of Antonius are completely unfounded! The old dictator was alive and talking when I stabbed him, and he had no such wound in his stomach. That stab wound was made after the killing, and there is no way he could have been dead before I arrived! I accept your challenge to a duel, just to prove that it is I and not this miserable pretender that can lay claim to the position of despot in our fair country! Atrous, you have completely false claims, you can't even substantiate them, and I refuse to give even give you the opportunity to fight me! Antonius, let's go! As for Poldohtar, I will remain on guard and will repel any attack by him.
Stuk Aza Peesea pulls out his knife and prepares to duel

EDIT: CT, you might want to change Markus' character status. One thing we can all agree on is that he's dead.
EDIT#2: Included Poldohtar.

Chieftess, we need permission to kill each other in this duel, which will be determined by the Conflict Manager (unless the Game Manager determines duels).

OOC

A poisoned knife in the belly, a knife in the heart and an arrow in the back. That's a bad day.

This would all be avoided if you passed your intent to kill the despot to the Conflict Manager before writing it here. The Conflict Manager would then decide who won what and then the players can do their stories.

It's more fun if there's some anarchy! We do have to get permission to kill, don't we? Or, can duels be decided by the Conflict Manager alone?

Yes, next time you have the urge to kill, fight, etc. notify me in the conflict thread.

So far, from what I can tell, the emperor is indeed dead. He who takes his place, however, must be determined by the players. As no line of sucession was left by the previous ruler, people will now have to start invoking old loyalties and taking out enemies to see who gets the throne.

However, so far as I can tell, the only person really in the lead is Sage Atrous. Unless I'm very much mistaken, the other people vying for power are not more than 15, while Sage Atrous is in his 20's.

By the way, I didn't tell you, but rumors from a nearby village suggest that it's powerful leader is growing jealous of Fanatica*, and may use his military 'might' to take the nation for himself...

A stunningly beautiful girl, Aurelia, comes running trhough the crowds.

Aurelia: WAIT!!!!!! STOP!!! DON'T FIGHT!!! (She runs on to the podium, where Antonius and Aza are). I won't let you duel. Not for something as silly as this. Look at you two. You must stop now. Haven't you heard? A neighboring village is trying to conquer us, and there are barbarians to the north. What about that barbarian who is pure? Are you going to find them? No. You two are going to fight over the throne of the village, and plunge it into more anarchy!

Antonius: I guess that is a good point...

OOC: bootstoots, waiting for you...

Aza: Okay, Aurelia, I see your point. It would be pointless to continue the fight. I will offer Antonius this compromise: We will not fight each other and will be at peace, not trying to kill each other. I will make you my second-in-command, as you clearly show leadership capabilities. Do you accept?

Just as the action has appearently come to an end, an villager, Octavian II, steps up to the stage. He was generally respected as an intelligent peasent, as was reknowned for his peaceful ways in this violent era.

"This touching alliance of two people will do nothing to end the conflict for the throne. There are still many other parties vying for a chance to rule the nation, while external enemies present a thread from abroad. Only a strong person should lead this nation, so I suggest that those who wish to claim the throne participate in a tournament to decide who is the strongest, and who will win the throne."

Conflict Manager taking over: All those interested in participating to gain the throne, post here in the next 24 hours. After that time period, fights will begin, with outcomes based on a formula based on a character's stats.
