Actually we should have some thread about Africa.

how its going to be the new land fill of the future? land is useless anyways

Tibet is only ever considered East Asian through China, but Mongolia is almost always considered East Asian.

In what way?

You could survive in Korea and Japan with English, but you wouldn't be able to meaningfully communicate with 99% of the people. Learning Korean or Japanese could only be described as a waste given the small geographic range in which they're spoken. If you're going to Korea it would be well worth it.
The fact is, even Hong Kong-ers cant master English very well, and it is generally considered the only place in East Asia that is "good" at English:rolleyes:

Hey, the trolling should stop. I'm not a mod, but seriously...

Anyways, I have cousins from Hong Kong and it may be because they're pretty well-off, but they have pretty good English, albeit English-accented English.

just go on a trip to Hong Kong for a week and you'll know what i mean:lol:
You can hardly find any English-accented Hong Kong-ers on the street. Hell its hard enough to get by one without heavy cantonese accent:blush:

What the heck is with all this trolling around here?

Anyways, in response to what vesley1987 said, Christianity in Korea was intially was frowned upon, and there were several prosecutions against Catholics.(the reigning Regent of King Gozong of the Li Dyasty, Daewonggun, was a conservative who perceived the religion as a foreign means to destroy Korea as it had upturned China.)
Only the Japanese occupation of fourty years did the Korean masses (note, the Korean public embraced Christianity under severe punishment from the Japanese occupiers, who wanted them to adhere to Shinto). Also was the fact that the Yangban class (Yangban is the equivalent of an aristocrat) stuck to Confucianism until they were destroyed by the land rforms initiated by both North and South Korea.

The mention of Hong Kong reminded me of one guy I know who seems to have kept a very strong Chinese accent while also picking up an equally strong deep country Alabama accent from years living in the South. I can't recall anyone who sounds weirder.

This is so stupid. If you didn't want any racism, why put the word racism in the title???

Considering Cantonese is their native language...

Question to Koreans: how many days do you work in a year?

Question to Koreans: how many days do you work in a year?

Back when I was in South Korea, we used to work about 9-12 hours a day I think. Long hours meant more wages, and competition was fierce, so many would work late.:(:(:(:(
Those long hours; those were bad days.

Actually, there is the same accent problem with Hong Kong people speaking Chinese; they carry a heavy Cantonese accent with it. Its best in Hong Kong to actually know Cantonese...
