The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Any other games you're planning on getting?

Just this one, which is now purchased, and I even got a discount as I knew the guy behind the counter.

I bought Neverwinter Nights, IL-2 Sturmovik Series and X3: Reunion last week, so I may have saturated my gaming needs.

Onwards, to installation!

I did a stupid mistake by getting the Xbox 360 version. I can't save my game.

:( That's a shame.

Okay, so first impressions are that this is going to be fun, and that my life is officially over. I had a great time just wandering, trying to make new friends (but kept getting attacked) and general gawping at the prettiness.

In retaliation, there's several dead bodies scattered across the countryside with no clothes on. A guy has to make a profit!

:D

This screen looks nice.

I love those lizard creatures. It's one of the first creatures I'm gonna make when SPORE is released! (I really hope you can bring along companions to form a team. Would be nice to play a RPG either solo, or team based. Imagine? You could have a band of thieves and your character is Robin Hood!

(I'm not sure how to take screenshots in-game though, even with bAllowScreenShots=1 set...

EDIT: n/m I see... it's in the "Microsoft Friendly" folder that I have to edit it...

 It doesn't like alt-tabbing!

Good to see both of you finally bought the game. :) Be prepared to spend your whole day on it. :D

For screenshots, it's same as Civ4 -- the printScreen key. The screenshots are located in the game install directory in BMP format.

Some other useful shortcuts:

F5 is quick save
F9 is quick load
F1 is character stats
F2 is inventory
F3 is magic
F4 is map

Have fun! :)

It's just, so, beautiful. I'm finding it very difficult to continue the quests as I keep getting distracted by something and scamper off. Or just stare :)

I'm looking for the Fighter's Guild right now. Just for fun, I decided to run around, and steal some Guard's armor. My Argonian finally met her match after fighting 3 gaurds at once (one had really shiny armor compared to the normal ones).

 The shinier it is, the tougher.

I'm also looking for the fighters guild, but then forgot and carried on with the main quest. Then I bumped into a chap with an axe...

Nasty chap. :(

First experience with the game. Boxing lessons!

Another target...

Playing with the physics.

I attacked a goblin, and this is how the ragdoll physics reacted. OUCH!!!

This guy's going nowhere...

Ohh, pretty!

A tribute to Morrowind, perhaps?

HEY!!! You're attacking the wrong person!!!

There's something fishy about that guard... (while watching the other gaurd chase the same person)

I love some of the comical things people say. "Big weapons! For big heros!"

BTW, can NPCs steal your items if you leave them laying around?
And the NPC models look like crash test dummies.

Is the brightness turned up in the place with the bucket?

No, I did that manually (Paint Shop Pro - gamma correctness).

CT, you play in 800x600? How does it play when you change it to 1024x768? You can see more of the world in higher resolution.

Take a look at this tweak guide to make the game play better: http://www.tweakguides.com/Oblivion_1.html

Argonians again!? I thought you already used Argonian in your Morrowind game. :p

They might. You should save some money to buy a house as soon as you can so you have a place to store all your loots. :) If you join the mage's guild, you can get a set of alcemhy equipment for free and can make money selling potions.

Usually the NPCs left items on the ground alone. But when they need something, they might.

e.g. A sword is left on the ground. Then a fight broke out, a NPC (with blade as best attack skill) wanted to join the fight but has no sword on him. That NPC will move to the sword, pick it up and use it.

I'll try the 1024x768 mode.

Just for practice. I've got an assassin Khajit now. (Stole a katana from a monk, and it's resting next to the north gate of one of the southern towns. :D).

Yeah, I saw a "house for sale" sign somewhere... (now if I could just remember which town).

Each town has a house for sale... the cheapest one is in Imperial City (also the ugliest, but it's quite convenient). The most expensive one is in Skingrad.

I personally love the one in Chorrol. :)

I remember after killing someone I took his items but I had too many to carry, so I put them back on his body. When I came back, the items doubled.
