The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

heh I've just hit the jackpot. I was doing one of those Shrine missions (the one with the Ogres. anyway I have to raid a mine and there are 5 guards in there, all equipped with glass/ebony weapons and ebony armour. and at 1900 for a breast plate, I'm quids in here. just takes AGES to transport it back and forth from my house. the Grey scowl is good and all but it's only so good

edit: just checked. although I know the prices shown aren't the price you'll get, in counting them up I just stole 16335 gold worth of armour and weapons from those 5 guards. nice little earner, I might buy a horse....

A wrestler in the WWE he also played the part of the Scorpion King the the 'Mummy Returns' movie along with 'Doom' and a few others.

I figured that, but what does he have to do with the creature?

Oh dear, I really should re-read my posts twice. I left out what I was paranoid about, the stuff disappearing.

I just want to double-check , it won't disappear, will it? Those items that are in there already won't respawn and wipe mine out?

As I said, I am very paranoid about that.

No stuff wont respawn. But you can only fit so much in a chest. I recomend spliting it up, weapons in one armour in another ect.. Things will look like it vanishes but it realy doesn't. It just gets hidden.

Ok, that's good, thanks!

I should clean out my inventory since I just downloaded 10 mods and still have 10 minutes until I am taking a break from the comp.

This game is DEFINATELY a huge improvement over Morrowind, the graphics mainly, but also the fighting isn't half bad.

EDIT: Just wondering, this thread is at post 885, will it get closed when it reaches 1000?

heh, has there ever been a time since where a non-Civ game thread has gone onto thread 2?

I'm really loving the Dark Brotherhood missions. you don't get alot of gold (unless it's a bonus for doing a mission within set parameters) but instead you get little bonuses like weapons, amulets and I ever got a +5 perminant boost to pretty much all my major skills. Being evil ROCKS

can anyone answer a query I have regarding the graphics engine?

I know the characters are all under the ragdoll principle, where when they fall, they'll roll down the gradiant of a slope, when they die they'll fall to the ground realistically etc but how far does this go?

If I shoot an enemy in the leg with an arrow, will they stumble? or if I hit them in the head will it cause more damage?

There is no damage localization in the engine. At high level in marksmanship, your arrows can have additional effects (paralyze for instance).
However, I believe the "physical" effect is taken into account (ie when hit, the target recoil slightly). If you shoot at a dead body, you will see it "shake"

Would that mean my aiming for the head is pretty pointless?

Probably. I get more arrows actualy sticking into the head when I shoot them from behind than when I shoot the from the front as they hit the head but stick out of the upper chest...

One thing I don't like is that the corpses are like rubber, and often seem almost spineless, I've had scamps end up literaly head over heels, and I have once or twice flung someone across a street or room. But it does look better and I like how they will pick up their weapons, heck, I think an innkeeper went to his ROOM to grab a weapon.

I once had a gaurd in a kneeling posture with both hands in front of him, and his head down. It looked like he was on all fours, perfectly straight...

And one of my first screenshots showed a gobling going literally head over heels.

I was just about to comment on that, I do think they are excellent, although too bad they are linear and not much for re-play. There will probably be a mod for the DB eventualy if not already.

EDIT: I feel bad about having had to track down and murder that entire family, and then... well, you will see.

I found a mod to make the adoring an better, have not triedit yet.

I seem to have an issue with the DB missions.
Spoiler :

It's the mission where you've to kill the retired guardsman. He's supposed to go for a swim at a set time and I've followed him, but all he does is go into the Coast Guard hut, then return back to the city. he doesn't actually go for a swim. I even caught him in his room without his armour on, I took a clean shot and it didn't kill him, all that happened was, suddenly his armour appeared on him and he turned round to kick my ass. I'm not sure if it's because there's an Oblivion gate close to where he should swim....

It was kinda funny, I made a mistake trying to pickpocket him and in the ensuing melee a guardsman shot him with an arrow, so a free for all amongst the guards took place. heh, that was rather funny to watch, I just put on my invisibility spell and watched the show

Spoiler :
Be very, very patient. When I did the quest he made 2 trips to the guardpost (quite close to an Oblivion gate too). Just keep following, he will eventually go near a pond, wait a bit, then go swimming.

Spoiler :
When I go to the lake I waited one hour and then he put his armour into his inventory and swam. He's still floating in the lake days later...

It's starting to get weird when the corpses from my first kills in a city are still there almost a month later...

I noticed that too. It's especially weird if some of those corpses are inside a building. There's three in a shop that have been there half a month. Must be bad for business.

In good news though, got myself a beautiful white horse for all my journeying needs. Still no name yet though.

Le Horsous Blanco or Joizy Jeff ( name of a real hourse that had to be put down today after he broke his leg :( ).
