The End of Han: The Three Kingdoms

Shao Yu rides into town on his steed, alone, carrying no weapons, wearing no armor, only his Confucian hanfu.
He gives strict orders to his troops to not follow him and protect Emperor Xian and Chen Da Ren with their lives.

"People of Liangzhou! Christos has called you to rebellion.
He wishes to raise the peasants up in arms against Emperor Xian & Chen Da Ren!
And he has also called for the massacre of government officials, which is why I am here today,"

Shao Yu dismounts from his pony.

"During the reign of Christos, I stood firm alongside Li Hao Shi,
protecting rich & poor alike against the indiscriminate slaughter carried out by those who followed him.
During the liberation of Chang'an, I made sure the heart of the nation, Emperor Xian, was safe and in Chen Da Ren's good hands.
And during Chen Da Ren's absence, instead of using the taxes for myself,
I spent them on the betterment of all the peoples of Liangzhou and for our struggle against Li Jue & Zhang Lu,"

He now falls to his knees on the road of the main street, baring his chest for all to see and vulnerable to attack.

"This is for all of you; the peasants, the scholar-bureaucrats, the artisans & the merchants. It is up to you, whether you would like to follow Christos or not; a man with the likes of such tyranny not seen since the time of King Zhou of Shang. If you judge me to have done you a great wrong, if you think a nation under Christos is one worth serving, then strike me down now where I kneel,"

Peasants! Dont listen to them They want to make you there slaves. Revolt with me to create a democratic gonverment with officials elected by the people.

I declare the creation of People's Republic of China!

Herp Durp. What's a republic? The Closest mentioning is this new Taoist principle of the People's Mandate to match with the Heavenly Mandate.

As of now, from my wanderings, marchings and studyings, Chen Yi, Shao Yu, and Emperor Xian certainly do have a "People's mandate", if that is a correct or even a conceivable term.

I will make sure no messages of Christos Lee makes it out of the Jail while he waits for execution, I will make sure that he will have no oppertunity for a final speech. I will write him an appropriately hypocritcal elegy.

Much as it pains me, I find myself unable to blame Li Hao Shi or He Zong for wanting to return home at this point. I doubt any maps of future use will result from their return trip, but I shrug that thought off, too.

Attempting to salvage what I can of the situation, I lead the expedition back south once again, but on a route a little farther west of the north-south-flowing 河/large river. (In other words, I make this an excuse to go fog busting: ending turns as often as is practical on hills adjacent to some kind of flat land.)

Once back within friendly territory, I humbly request a military escort for, er, passage through yet-unliberated Pass-West lands. Preferably, such an escort would be commanded by someone who is strong on defense, willing to do reconnaissance work in general, and unlikely to play the glory hound.

As for how to get to Shang Dang, I'm going to make another attempt on the north side of the Luo River (assuming that's the nearby big one flowing west-east), but head directly east from Ping Yi this time, rather than northeast.

Once we reach the Rice Taoist borders, whenever that might be, I'll take my chances from there and hope that Han Sui's mission grants me some kind of immunity on the way, even with the war going on.

Looking at the map, I wonder if it is Shang Dang that the Rice Taoists have as their capital, or He Nei...

Upon my return to Liangzhou, I am at first unaware of the serious national (factional? :p) politics going on upon my return -- there's probably comedy to be had from that.

On that note, me and Christos will drive each other half-nuts reciting ultimatums, ravings, musings, and ancient poetry at each other.

I hope the correspondence between Christos and Li Hao Shi is preserved for posterity, and would do it myself if it ever fell into my or my family's hands.

AS governer Orders of Wu Wei, I start with a building, then another stack depending on situation.

I will reorganize the armies according to classic "Banners".
Seige Core: 2 Ballista, 1 Crossbowmen
Seige Assault: 2 Seige Swordsmen
Seige (Phoenix Wings) Army: 2 Seige Core 3 Seige Army +1 Pike Corps
Pike (Long wind) Corps: 2 Pikes +1Bow/crossbowman
Light Cavalry (Thundering Dragon) Corps: 3 Light Horsemen
Raider (Stalking Monkey) Corps: 2 Light Horsemen, 1 Pike 1 Bow/xbow

We're waiting on Red Spy again?

Terrance: I think I need clarification on your governor orders. You don't specify which building, or what the stack should be made up of. And is the organization supposed to be of the armies we have in game, or is it what units we plan to build? Because we don't have that many troops in game.

The Chronicles of Kongming
HRNca.jpg

The assassin has been revealed! Christos Lee, former king of Liangzhou, has ordered the remnants of his followers to mass attack King Yi!
Shao Yu, hearing this, made a passionate speech to the people of Wu Wei, convincing the few of them tempted to join Christos to wiser councils.
King Yi, hearing of the plot by Christos, ordered his execution. Christos, moaning something about a People's Republic of China, was brought out to the block, knelt, and............the executioner smote his head off, and it was taken to King Yi. Christos Lee is dead!
Meanwhile, the position in Wu Wei was unknown to Fang Zi-An, who, baffled by the river, decided to return to Ping Yi, and seek an escort through Li Jue's lands.

Li Hao Shi, preoccupied by politics, failed to make his building orders very clear, only mumbling something about a building, and a stack. With Emperor Xian's urging, the builders took this to mean the Imperial Court.

After a long trek, Fang Zi-An arrived back in Ping Yi, and is searching for a guard.
Finally, Strizu Hao spent his money on an elaborate festival in Emperor Xian and King Yi's honor. It was a hit, and Demise of Christos Day has become an official Liangzhou holiday.
These are the Chronicles of Kongming, Ninth Volume.

Can i re-join?

Very sorry for being late. I request that someone else take the governor position, because I do not want to hold up the actual game.

As for orders: Provide aid to the people affected by the war.

Have the body buried. The traitor's family are innocent and will be looked after.

Understanding that the Liangzhou troops on the eastern border still need time to recuperate after the incursion and heavy fighting near Chang'an, I gather what I can of the Li-Christos correspondence along with eyewitness accounts of various recent (and relatively recent) events and compile a romanticized account of my own, starting with the days of Christos at his peak of power. The whole piece is written with public readings and dramatic performances in mind.

Spoiler :
It portrays a Christos passionate but misguided and once drunk with power, contrasted with also-passionate but more temperate figures who had come to fill the power vacuum left by the rash warlord's purges, both the ones successful in Wu Wei's courts and the ones attempted but thwarted elsewhere.

The Emperor as well as Chen Da Ren / King Yi and Han Sui are mentioned but kept respectfully off-stage. The author -- having lost much in turmoil of the various coups while keeping mostly a stoic face -- wrote himself in, but as an unnamed and only minor character in scattered scenes both tragic and comedic. Among the bigger players toward the end is, of all beings, Shao Yu's bashful but brave mount, who had stayed by her master even during those moments when the pro-Christos mob appeared most dangerous.

The story confirms the death of Christos, with some brief and minor difficulty in cutting through the knots of muscle in his neck, but also portrays a mysterious and possibly unworldly disappearance of his head. It ends with news of the mercy to be granted his family in the far, far west.

To see this popular-audience-minded work distributed to the various cities, I employ the services of out-of-work scribes in Liangzhou's northeast frontier, including refugees from the Xiongnu raids, even at a financial loss to myself (though without anything like directly embezzling the trade mission).

:hammer: Urgently but politely, keeping in mind both my other standing personal request, and the current faction-wide confusion regarding governorship, I also send appeals once more to active governors. I ask them to send trained advisors to aid in assimilation, martial training, and rebuilding within much of the former-Pass-West area.

Once that correspondence is done, I begin work on some educational texts; however, I'm ready at all times to set the brush down and resume my trek, east of Ping Yi and north of the Luo. That is, once some escort arrives, be it ever so humble.... there's no place like the road!

Shao Yu assists directly in the recuperation of the soldiers exhausted from the Defense of Chang'an.
He bandages soldiers individually and assists in carrying water to and fro as well as carrying the wounded into their cots.
The soldiers are not the only ones he takes care of either, as he treats the ponies of the cavalry with care and bandages their wounds as well.

Build Orders:
1. Worker
2. Worker
3. Crossbowmen
4. Crossbowmen
5. Resume Infinite Cavalry

Shao Yu orders for the repair of the roads near Chang'an,
in part because they need to repaired, but also because it would be the foundation of a
Rapid Reaction Defense Network that could be adequately utilized in case of another attack.
Any units who are still fresh from the battle are ordered to escort these workers as they rebuild the roads.

Continue training the units in Tian Shui.

Players Orders: I use my money and influence to expand my fief near Wu Wei. I put 29 gold into that effort. This expanded fief will hopefully have an agricultural surplus, and I will also give land within the walls, free, to veterans of the War as they retire.

Wu Wei Governor's Orders
City Orders: Grow 1 Size, Stagnate Again
Build Orders
Imperial Palace->Archers->Crossbowmen->Pikemen->Cavalry->Seige Engines/Swordsmen
Troops Orders
Repeat building Seige Engines/Swordsmen after we get there. Troops before that are guards, while groups of 2 Seige Engines and 2 Swordsmen are to be designated a "Striking Tiger Corps" and sent to the front.

Continue training horsemen and siege engines.
I also try to convince king Yi to make An Ding the new capital.
