will look at the save tonight but things seems to go well :)

I don't think we have time to delay lib given lincoln teching like crazy :(
I see only 2 choices for tech right now: nationalism or astronomy.
astronomy is of better use (way to suchi and observatory) but nat is a monopoly :/

To bad for lost island but we just have to find others. seems like there is an unexplored island on mini world map. maybe astro is another reason for that. (have to check on the real map)

few tips for next set:

There is 2 coastal fishing cities in chinese territory.
maybe we can steal them to chinese. other possible settling places : 2 spots near banto and one under the unused rice.

There is also that small continent with at least a barb city to be colonised. astro is needed but this place could be cool.

What i see for next set is oxford (where?), zigura, forges, settlers and wealth. Don't really get the necesity for caravels. I'd prefer money instead :)

for tech, my vision: bulb nat, go for astro by trade (part teched if needed) then sci method up to medecine.

when do we launch the GA is to be decide. but it will be a good caste/pac/starving GA i bet.

I'm not convinced by astronomy: we're not chasing physics, we've got coastal trade routes to most places and astronomy will cost us Colossus.
Tech wise I'm wondering about heading towards medicine via gunpowder, chemistry, scimeth, biology.
We have a sizeable (and expensive) army. Do we build ships and go for China or maybe check out SB's LBs or maybe give peace a chance.
I'm guessing Oxford goes in capital, where do we build Taj? Beijing perhaps?
I'm also wondering about spreading culture in our new cities, Jmiss maybe?

I tend to agree that Astronomy perhaps should be a traded rather than fully researched. We might be well served by putting a few :science: into it to drop the price if need be.

I'd consider a Liberalism > Nationalism slingshot, then Music (build culture) which takes care of that question of border pops, plus puts us on the Cuirassier pathway (Military Tradition) if we want to hit Sitting Bull sooner rather than later.

I assumed that Oxford would go into Uruk, but I suspected that there was a chance that Beijing might come up in discussions.

Taj Mahal ... due to the Great Artist influence, I'd actually consider a mid-sized :hammers: city such as Ur (when it gets up to 7 or 8 population) that may need to pinch that Farm from Uruk. Ur won't produce any Great People, so we can keep Beijing's Great Artist influence - sizeable as it is already - a bit more supressed. Beijing is fine however if others felt we should go with that option.

I'd say build Taj where we get out it the quickest. worst thing is an AI all of a sudden getting Natio and punching out Taj before us. Beijing could use the Culture from the wonder as well. If Beijing has GA influence already then I think that is even better. If we pop them they are Golden Age fodder anyway which is about the main purpose of GPs at this point other than GMs.

I'd like to grab a Great Engineer for Mining Inc too, so we should be mindful of our Great Person management, especially if we're at all planning to burn our current Great Merchant on a Golden Age (who is otherwise earmarked for Sid's Sushi). I'm fairly confident that we'll be OK, but there's that chance that things could go quite 'not as hoped', which is quite likely if we're going to be popping Great People out of Beijing where there's a lot of wonder-driven influence.

In terms of cultural pressure on Beijing, it does have a merged Great Artist, Library, and University, so I'd have thought it'd be at least 'OK' in that sense.

I didn't address it in the report, but I did run an Engineer in Uruk for a fair proportion of the turnset with Mining Inc or hurry on the Statue of Liberty in mind.

I guess, more generally, I think that we also need to work out (a.) if and when to attack Native America, and (b.) what to do - if anything - about the other/new continent.

for a, i think we have some time. My vision is grab as mutch land as possible and aim for suchi ASAP. I would only attack if it does not slow the game plan.

for b, i'd like to pay them a visit. With GLH, land is not only power, it is also money.
For colossus, when i checked yesterday, we are not working that mutch sea tiles. That mean maybe 20 gold per turns (disclaimer : I did not count), we can affort to kill it to enable us to build additional 3-4 coastal cities. additionaly, observatories will compensate most of colossus lost gold.

astre,

It was, at the end of my turnset, 'exactly' 20 commerce - so good guess! :D

I think that there's some understandable reluctance about obsoleting The Colossus (similarly when confronting Scientific Method with The Great Library) but agree that we should 'take the hit' as some stage fairly soon. I'm not sure how willing the AI will be to trade it away, but it's not been a huge issue in most past games. If we finished Music after Liberalism, maybe Shaka might go 'Astronomy' for 'Education + Music + :gold:'?

As for Native America, I wouldn't mind beating up Sitting Bull in the medium term. While there are some pretty rubbishy cities, there are some good ones as well. I don't want us to be half-way through building The Internet and/or spaceship and have to put up with multiple cities being hit with poisoned water either!

[Edit] Oh yeah ... units needed for Guangzhou ... nearly 10% revolt risk! [/Edit]

Techwise lib>nat, music, gunpowder, chem. See what's available in trade.

Fill last sites.

Maybe detour to steel after chem and wipe out SB with cannon (upgrade some trebs).

Is there a majority in favour of treb war? Totally different PPP for war than peace.

If we opt for war, I'm in favor of a cuirassier war very soon, that mean
Techwise lib>nat, music, MT while trading for gunpowder and building horse/phant units, then mass upgrade... (I've seen too mutch absolute zero games on youtude for my mind safety recently)

If we opt for expansion, that mean lib>nat, trade for astro, go to medecine while building settlers.

both options are acceptable to me but not a mixed plan.

I'm not keen on miltrad with all the trebs we have around already. On the other hand I think this might be a good time to grow cities and build economy that way.
So use units to suppress revolts in chinese acquisitions until they've accumulated Rosbif culture and go peaceful for now. If there are no strong objections I'll knock up a PPPP (peaceful pre play plan) tomorrow.

I just thought

that maybe Xian might want to build a couple of Work Boats in preparation for Bantu and the proposed new city to Bantu's east after it gets the Forge done?

I'm happy enough to go with either Cannons of Cuirassiers. I've got no objection to the proposed Cannon route noting that it does downgrade the priority on Music. I do think that Music's nonetheless a fair technology to pursue given 'build culture' can be a useful tool for the border pop, we've already invested 290:science: into it, and it's a nice bargaining chip given only Lincoln has it at the moment.

Taking out Sitting Bull will give us our/vranasm's proposed 30 cities, which may be sufficient, and we could disregard the other continent. I'm not necessarily saying that we should disregard it, but I doubt it's imperative that we do settle over there. Furthermore, I'm wary that Lincoln is likely to go for a Cultural Victory and we may need to attack him at some point toward the end, so we could very well lose our far-flung cities set up on the other landmass if it unfolds that way.

no objection to a PPPP :)

btw, if we want to go suchi path, colonisation of fishing island/continents seems like the best idea.

Few thoughts before detailed PPPP

We've got this variant to fill:

Return to Sender

Liberate a city that was once founded by a rival empire.

Maybe Guangzhou would be a good candidate. Culture pressed already, Qin will accept it (or any other recently captured city).

Maybe use our existing settler to colonise copperfish island, we have a galley nearby so it'll take 5-6 turns. Nibru can whip out a replacement next turn.

Uruk to build OU starting next turn.

Beijing for Taj.

Wait for HE before pumping out garrison LBs.

not sure to return Guandzhou as its chinese culture will cause us more problems that it would solve :/
I think we will have better city to be returned in the future. Idealy, to a vassal...

good idea to go for copper now.

Ok for the rest but not sure about building LB. why not just use our future outdated armies to do so?
