I've continued it until there where only 2 civ left and having 1/3 of land.

I hate not to finish a game :p

I may play the curent SG game tonight but more likely tomorow night. I'll see.
 
I'm reluctant to make any comments on the map, but please rest assured that I hardly touched the map other than swapping the AI tribes' positions around in several cases so it fitted better with the variant and theme. If anything, I marginally improved our starting position ... but only marginally.

Beware of barbarians. Our spawnbusters are pretty vulnerable to multiple attacks from the Deep Spawn.

well, well, well, let's try not to look at tachy eyes and lets try to move on :shifty:

I did play the first part of the set. i explored north of our lands (quin's lands), build a settler and teched writting that enable to OB with quin and gain 4 gold per turn.
road between our 2 cities is nearly finished and will enable us to gain more gold :drool:

I'll try to post the save and pics asap to decide on location of third city and to decide next tech.
I put alphabet as place older because it seems to me the best one but we can still change.

btw, first action of eridu worker was farm, his second action should be either another farm or mine copper? i'd say mine but as i stoped here, i could ask your opinion.

Have to say I'm baffled at the road network. That is like 8 extra worker turns. Rather we could road to tile to plant rice/gems city, which I really think we need to settle and then on to the copper tile. We'd then have trade routes.

It also further delayed that extra commerce (not gold) for several turns.

Not sure why we are size 2 in Uruk. At this point I would whip at size 5 or 6, especially with no granary yet. Gotta keep the gold working. It's far too late for our capital to be at size 2.

Grass Hill mine before Plains Hill mine.

these are all early game setbacks
 
we are size 2 because we needed the settler yesterday (or even before...), quin already have at least 4 cities and SB is starting to settle on our doors.
We are at a point where we need to found new cities, not to emphasis on research.

for road, my concern was to join cities. As there were recources inbetween, why not pass through them. but agreed that to go north way would have been faster concidering that we seetle at this place.

If i understand your point, you want to seetle south of rice/gem mountain?

i did not get your point on hills ...
 
well that GH should have been improved before PH, but that happened in pigs tS and I think L just missed this...

I kinda was thinking to put totally mediocre city 2E1N from the bananas (3N1E from gems) that way we claim some more land and will be on coast

I too am disappointed about the size 2, I think I promoted growing to size 5/6 to whip settler.

seems to me like alpha is the way and trade for IW which is needed.

there is some reasonable site north east with cows and dyes as city 4/5 depending on the rice+gems city timing.

Btw we should put EP's only on 1 AI... Lincoln is my favorite.

the number of cities of lincoln is irrelevant since he got deity boost of 1 more settler.

seems to me like Mids are off and we should think about happiness... I think since we go PH the monarchy is on tables...

we should connect by road the gold too in the near future. chop more trees around uruk into workers even for switching queue while growing back.
 
Oh..I agree that we should have more cities. GLH kinda slows expansion. But whipping off good tiles at this point is rather extreme. We are not that desperate. I'd rather have chopped the settler out than build that road right now. We whipped off a lot of production and commerce. That is fine at size 5 or 6. It's all relative really - I'm looking at the date, food, and other factors in why we should not be at Size 2 right now.

Grass Hills are better than Plains Hills. You mine Grass Hills first unless you can't.

Yeah, those silks could have been connected much later when we actually have Calendar. That's just a lot of worker turns. With the new city, which is part of the road network, we don't even need to road all the way to Eridu...just the river.

These are just things to think about.

I think we should settle 1S of the peak, but the team needs to decide as a whole. I know some want coast, but I don't think that is a big deal v. grabbing good land. We might get a coastal spot soon where that cow is. Unfortunately our settler production has been greatly nerfed at present.

really with the workboat we did not need any units in china. Just keep sending the WB west

Eridu can build more workers.

I'm almost tempted to scrap that road and send that worker back to chop the granary, which we probably really need now in that city to get it functional. Start another settler at size 5 or 6. mine the grass hill.
 
the 2 warriors in china came from very diferent path. actually, the second does only moved few tiles from its sentry position to finish unroaded map of china. he will move back to sentry next turn.

btw not sure we need a 4th settler, with 3 cities, we can build a good vulture pack and steal 2-3 cities with that.
 
sentry is better right now. We know where China is...barbs on the other hand can cause problems.

Fighting SB and Qin now could be rather expensive...definitely SB. Forget that without Cats.
 
Early war is a very weak point in my game so if we decide this I will learn something. I would prefer us to get a third worker and get some settlers and commerce.
 
We are where we are. It could have been better (I'm sure a better player would have got settler and Glight earlier than I did for that matter) but our deity level players will have a chance to restore our fortunes.

City#3 southpeak between rice and gems to stop Qin pinching the rice for a cow/rice city. Its ambitious but there's a doubleclam spot up north with a coastal connection waiting to be grabbed.

We have unexplored land to the north east and partially explored arctic to the south so we could still have space to expand without the tedium of warfare against protective civs.

In the short term grow capital, maybe chop granary before chop/build worker#3. Mining the copper sooner rather than later may be worth considering.
 
btw, there is a barb city near the 4 dyes spot if you had not noticed. I'll finish the set end of afternoon.
 
well, except for a double barbarian attack on one of our sentry, all went fine.
To avoid any complication i moved warior from cap.
we can either get it back or move him forward to block barb warrior.
we can also build another warrior in capital... i let next player decide.

the gem rice city is funded and trading is going well. Exploration of north is nearly completed, a boat is starting to explore indian lands.
I put granary for copper city but that can be changed.
