The Entire Thought Experiment

As far as I can see we have two people who wants a TM and one person that wants MC.

Still we have not been discussing what our next GP should be. And noone has said anything about city specializations.

I think Cam and I are both for an MC bulb. I'm not going to lose sleep over a TM, but don't think it is quite as valuable at this point, especially if we have no access to ToA.

I'm not overly concerned about city specialization quite yet. Of the current cities, I really only see primarily production, which is fine at this point. Most of our commerce will be coming from GLH and none of our current cities look or even future planned look like GP farms. Let's just stick to food/hammers for now and hug the coast.

I say just go ahead and lay out the plan as you see it and let us agree to it...then play.

Worker, farm rice, then connect Kish, then more farms.
Worker 1, chop forest, cottage riverside grass.

Eridu, build granary until size 3, then slow build worker. Either whip granary at size 4 or slow build it. Perhaps 2 whip a vulture and finish granary with overflow.
Uruk, finish granary then vulture, then settler, whipping settler from size 5 to 3 with 1 chop. After settler start on library.
Kish, build vulture.

Send GM to native americans. look around and then a trade mission.

I still prefer to cottage Uruk. But I will change my plan for Uruk if someone else says we are not building any cottages.

It might be that I'm just a to peaceful player and middlegame is very tough if you do not have a least one commerce city. But if we agree on an early war to get a nice city I will revise my plan.

Perhaps we should ask ourself if we want to get catapults before attacking someone?

Still no comment about our next GP. Being Philosophical I do not believe we should leave this unadressed.

I should be able to play in three hours so burl out any comments.

K, I will do my best at getting hammers then. I will chop chop chop with the worker then. perhaps road gold depending on what the barb is up to.

I think Cam and I are both for an MC bulb.
Lurker's comment

Is there a specific reason? (bulbing MC will net 730 beakers while a TM minimum is 900 gold). Are you planning to rush right now?

It is even worse. 609 beakers invested into MC will turn into 730 beakers.

I will start playing any moment now in case someone wants to add anything.

We had bad luck. The barb attacked our warrior and lost but was followed by an other barb the next turn that won the battle. I was forced to whip a vulture in our capital. I had put one turn into it in case this would happen to lessen the impact. After that I have been building a library while regrowing our capital.

Sitting Bull is stealing our stone cow site. Two dog soldiers are escorting his settler. If we want to fight him we can take it easily with our Vultures. But I think China should be our target. He does not have any friends.

We seem to have a lot of very nice land to our north east. This should be our priority.

Only time will tell for how long.
Lurker's comment

The land will always be there :D

Thanks for the turnset, Folket.

Got it!

Hey Folket - Did you see an actually NA Settler heading down south there?

Cam - Curious, do you create the game from a WB file?

I moved the Vulture 1 tile to peak at the barb city. Only warriors in there, so we can knock it out and raze it - it is not coastal.

Plan -

1) Uruk - finish Library, Vulture (send NE), settler (chop)

2) Eridu - Whip Granary at or near half filled bucket into library - then barracks - then vultures. We might run scientists early here to get at least 1 GS, after growing back.

3) Kish - Finish Vulture>settler

Personally, I would bulb Currency right now, but I will leave that up to the team. Interestingly, ToA has not been built. Only SB has the tech. If we bulb Currency, we can start trading techs for gold anyway. I'd like to get IW soon anyway for gems.

I would settle first the coastal cow city 1SW of cow. I suspect there might be iron around there. Then we can settle towards the lusher NE area. I like 1SW of cows there. That city can work gold if Uruk can't, plus it can serve as a canal...then gradually settle the rest. We have to worry about China sending boats that way though. I hoping there is so food around the dyes and seafood in the east.

If we bulb Currency, I would head straight for Monarchy since Mids is likely out at this point...and apparently the stone. The known AIs don't even have Priesthood.

If we put a city on the northern banana peninsula before Qin gets there would that deter Qin from settling the north east?

lymond,

I'm happy enough with either bulbing or trade mission.

I think that Construction should be fairly high priority, but can see the attraction of Monarchy.

In case you miss it, the Warrior in Xian should move to Kish.

Personally I'd stick with Uruk for the Scientist(s) once that Library's done and 2-pop whip out the Vultures from Eridu, but I'm open to the alternative.

I still don't mind the north western Cow city proposed earlier (assuming south Stone is gone), but also pleased to consider sites in the north east after we scout it more.

On game set-up, there's presumably some problem I've got with the Barbarians' start. I do give them Archery, but the World Builder file doesn't seem to record the Barbarians' technology. I have the handicap level for the player set at Immortal.

selling tech will give us money for deficit ressearch. ok to bulb it.

I'm really in the mood for war but we have dog soldier in one way and pro archer the other way...
in both cases, we need construction for invasion.
I'd go for that path personaly but monarchy asap to build up an army is also to consider.
