THE FALKLANDS WAR ( 1982 ) v1.0

This is my first atempt at making a scenario
for Civ 3. So all constructive comments welcome!

The Royal Navy has 3 Nuclear Submarines patrolling
the seas around the Falkland Islands, in an attempt to
seek out and destroy both Argentine Task Forces.
The British Carrier Battle Group is advancing quickly
south as British land forces prepare to sail from Ascension.

As commander of the British Task Force, you must gain
air superiority in order to safely land your troops.
Argentina has a reputable Air Armada, including the deadly
Exocet Missile, protect your ships!

Recapture British pride, but do it in just 25 turns!

Royal Navy Carrier Battle Group: April 1982
Location: South Atlantic Ocean

Good scenario, had fun playing it.

If you want to update it here is some info. you might find useful.

Main land forces:

3 Commando Brigade:
- 40 Commando
- 42 Commando
- 45 Commando

- 2 Para Battalion Attached to 3 Commando Brigde
- 3 Para Battalion =

5 Infantry Brigade:
Welch Guards
Scots Guards
Royal Gurka Rifles ( check Spelling)

Some Light scimitar tanks from the blues & Royals where sent.

The Special boat sqaudron was used to investigate the land site and the SAS destoryed some planes on the ground and took some key positions during the fighting.

Maybe you could incorporate this into your scenario.

Nice to hear you enjoyed playing the scenario!

Yes, I think I included most of the units you mention,
SBS and SAS are missing, but I hd a little difficulty
deciding how to include them. I'm certainly not
finished with the scenario though and I do intend to
improve it as time goes by.

If anyone knows of any unit graphics that could potentially
be used in this scenario, I'd love to hear about them.

P.S. How did you do in the scenario?

look sonny, some of us'd love to kiss your ass and say what a great scenario it is but we can't get to your link. stick a saved one on the first turn brits if you can as well please

Okay, no reason to insult him, all uploads are down right now...

EDIT: What I don't get is how his picture is surviving, while all of mine are gone :(.

only moaning. just hard to find a decent interesting download these days you don't have to leave the computer on overnight for:crazyeye:

What a gent. sorted please excuse my crap computer and shrort temper. i'll hit you with any queries later;)

erm right next prob is i notice this file is ten times bigger than owt else i've downloaded scenario-wise and and when i unzip it, it comes up with some german blurb about missing 'header' file and the tells me i missing a assaultship/assaultship death flc type thing, any ideas anyone?

Ok, having played the games I have a few problems with it.

The british start off with a settler and a worker on the falklands, and they keep revolting against democracy. I found the Belgrando and it destoryed one of my submarines. The british only sent two small carriers with a compliment of harries to the falklands there where there other jet aircraft available to them.

Port stanly is in the wrong place it should be 5 squares north east. Goose green was just a field not a town. But there was a small nearby named Port Darwin. THere were also hills and mountains on the aproch to Stanly and this is where the british biggest battles took place.

It takes for ever to get to the island as the british and you said the scenario lasts for 25 five turns, when I tries it its lasted 540 turns.

And you have put a helicopter in a transport, which can't be moved or used in any way.

So here ends my Report.

Thanx Mr Black, the link was very useful, I shall be
using it to do some ammendments.
But do remember, the Falklands map is only a
small one, therfore limiting the amount of detail
I can bring to it.
As for the amount of units each side posesses,
there too it is all about getting the correct balance.
HMS Hermes carried some 14 Sea Harriers and GR.3's
along with several Sea King Helicopters. Invincible too
had a similar amount.
For a map of this size, the balance of units must be considered.

I will make some ammendments though to some of the bugs that P Byrne has brought to light. I also intend to add
some new units such as SAS in the next version.

Also I intend to make a LARGE MAP version of the game,
this will be as close to reality as poss. HELP would be VERY
welcome!!
