The future of Fall from Heaven

I personally find civ5 far more fun than vanilla civ4, which held my attention for maybe 4 games before I stopped playing it.

And I would not hold your breath for religion; It may have been useful in mods, but in the vanilla game was pretty much crap.

I have to agree, Civ 5 is far more to my liking than vanilla Civ4 ever was. Especially with the Economy mod :)

Sad that there won't be a FFh for it, but I am interested in hearing more about this "Eden" project!

Out of curiousity, are any of the other original FFh team members still around?

I prefer Civ IV ... (as opposed to Civ V)

again Congratulations to Kael for his new step in Gaming career.

Heh. Glad to hear you like the Economy Mod. :mischief: You likely won't be hearing about Eden for some time. Aside from the name. ;)

From what I've seen, it's a bit of a toss up, with regards to who likes which game better.

I think a big part of that comes down to a core design difference... Civ4 has a lot of small, relatively unimportant decisions to make each turn (Sliders, civic changes, etc; Yes, important, but easily reversible and making a mistake has no long-term effects), whereas Civ5 has fewer, very important choices (An example would be the difference between civics and policies, here) that have long-term effects.

Can we stop derailing another Elemental thread please? :mischief:

Dunno what you consider original. I still check here time to time, though I'm not following Civ 5 because I've fallen behind the technology curve (though I hear I made it into the manual on the basis of some test games of an early build... almost feel guilty over that honor).

You would be one, yes. Good to know you're still keeping an eye out at least :)

Nikis-Knight is being modest. There have been a lot of FfH discussions in the past two years and various members of the FfH team have been involved. Nikis-Knight, Loki and seZereth are my inner circle and I rely heavily on them to validate ideas, offer feedback and help with all the designs I put together. And I hope to continue doing so (they all received free copies of Elemental because I value their feedback so highly).

Hmmm, original FfH team evaluating Elemental. FfH3 via Elemental?

Congratulations to your new job, Kael.

I really like your mod.
'Stardock'. Reminds me of something. Isn´t Master of Magic´s Myrran based on Destiny Times Three, or are there earlier representations of the concept.

Powerful people hate me. I don´t know whether my opinion is more of use or harm to you.

Updated the first post to include the following from today:

11/01/2010

My first day at Stardock. What a great group of folks, Brad was even nice enought to create a forum post about it. http://forums.stardock.com/399705

And so it begins. Despite pining for a FfH3 I'm happy to follow this bouncing ball wherever it may wander.

So if today was your first day ... will that limit your involvement with 1.1?

Vigour and resolution unto thee Kael! Last time i sniffed at Elemental it was a ramshackle recollection of junk - do note that MUCH of it's so called community [slaves] were comprised of [imbeciles and dupes] erm, 'naive commoners', game enchantment was a horrid grayish 'something' which siphoned like 'Perfect World' - perhaps that toad-like one from release vid had to do something with it or a few [other vampires] in forum ranks? - unit graphics were appaling and storyline - see 'naive' part. Although some of the paintings are salvageable, mechanics, rules are to be remade completely and, well, may thee endure through it - i would have routed while it is not too late. Keep thy faith strong and generally beware - the ev... erm. And hexx all those forum 'suggesters' preemptively. 'An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded'.
