The future of Fall from Heaven

Congratulations, Kael!

Hmm... based on this, can we assume that Stardock's second games studio would have made the stand-alone FFH game? The game that had to be cancelled because Elemental was not successful enough to pay for it?

I didn't think there would be FFH for Civ 5 anyway, unless I missed something?

No, Stardock didn't have anything to do with that deal.

Great news, Kael! Congratulations!

Congrats
I think its Stardock that is the truly lucky party here.
Talent is much harder to find then capital.

What the FFH team has accomplished is nothing short of amazing considering
you all did it in your free time.

Good luck

I agree

Vanilla civ4 is more fun than civ5, I don't see why FFH should port over, especially since a major function in making the mod actually work is gone(religions)

I bet you guys it'll come back in a dlc or expansion.

I personally find civ5 far more fun than vanilla civ4, which held my attention for maybe 4 games before I stopped playing it.

And I would not hold your breath for religion; It may have been useful in mods, but in the vanilla game was pretty much crap.

I don't really see any need, personally, to switch from Civ IV to Civ V ... if I want hexes I can play Panzer General ;)

as for fantasy mods of the infamous Civ V, Naeralith Reborn and Eden seem promising ... So Kael, go do some magic on elemental! ;)

I keep playing Civ5, but never seem to get very far. I almost made it to the Industrial Age once, but every other time I give up in the middle ages.

That said, I still keep playing it. And considering the awesomeness of the Iroquois with whom I've just started playing, this game might be the one.

MOHAWK WARRIORS, HO!

And the Civ5 demo is availible now, so at least give it a shot.

I would love to play Civ 5. Thats why I bought it, but unfortunately it won't even start on my comp.

if it won't start then get a refund on your Civ V.

Go FFH!

I have the same problem :(

I just want to say. I am glad your adventure finally ended well. Congratulations for your new job! That's good news for you, for Stardock, and for us the customers!

Kael, I hope someone like you could use the mind-bursting potential of E:WoM :(
Stardock is a great address and made many joyful games. Kinda refreshing besides all the "Triple-A" crap out there (I indeed like f.e. an indy 'Mount & Blade' more than the 23489234 WW2 Shooter). But all of there games have flaws... and some even many of them...
Elemental was/is just as disappointing as it was/is Spore, B&W2, a.s.o.
Maybe with you, there will be a straight U-turn :king:

@CivI V vs. Civ V:
Folks, atm the both games shouldn't be compared.
Civ IV has two Add-On's and a few dozens of great mods.

I guess I'll just wait until the first or second Add-On before moving over.
There are still many great Civ IV mods to play (I became a lil bit addicted to History of the three Kingdoms lately :D)

PS: Great to see, that the 'business' recruits new people more and more from platforms of fan content.
May it be CivFanatics in this case or OverClocked Remixes for composers or... :D

The only thing that makes me not completely dread this turn of events is that Kael is happy about it. And Kael is a smart guy that knows what he's doing. So why the dread? Because this means that FFH3 will probably never happen. =/ I've also lost a lot of faith in Stardock because of how the Elemental release was handled; I'm not sure that can be turned into a good game.

Good luck, Kael. I hope Stardock gives you the creative freedom you need to make an excellent product.

The end of his adventure? No good sir, tis only the beggining ;)

For if it were to end, that would imply the new end is a dead end. Instead, lets hope for new beginnings, and a line of decent fantasy games from elemental. :)

Don't worry. Stardock will probably make Kael do FFH3 form them with their rotten Elemental engine.

hehe ... only if Kael can tell them to re-write their crappy engine :p
