The G8 Summit

No trade decison? What's the point of this sumitt then?
To discuss climate change. Which will be fruitless since Bush will do everything he can do block it.

To discuss cancelation of the debt for the development-countries, and ending up canceling it for the 20 poorest, if they can handle corruption, election, free market, etc. And then after some years, nothing will have happened.

So in the end, I think the point is to make people believe that they care.

Agreed. I hope that the next summit takes place on a battleship or aircraft carrier or something. That'll show how we'll deal with the protestors.

Yes, because god forbid people be allowed to exercise freedom of assembly.

God forbid people start voting and getting these jerks out of power, rather than wasting their time going to stupid rock concerts and protests.

And people are supposed to shut up until the next election they can vote in comes around? Protests may not be the most effective form of bringing about change, but sometimes they grow strong enough to do so. The numerous protests against the Vietnam war may not have been the only factor that brought about American withdrawal, but they were a factor.

Run and hide?
No, its called setting a trap. (OOC: yes, but why put innocents in danger just to show that we don't run) First the loons try to swim for the ship to over run it but when they get close the boat will pull away leaving them to drown. It will help the sumit move along while at the same time cutting down of the hippie population.

How often do these things end in violence. I proposed a solution that would curb, or atleast spread out the violence. There is nothing keeping them from protesting. Oh and I don't see how puting the leaders on a boat prevents freedom of assembly.
