The Gallic War

did we lose workers as well or are they still about?

ohwelll stuff happens, at least we have some idea of what they have in that city-ALOT!

WOW! This is a problem! We're gonna need to build lots of barracks (which we're doing), but maybe we should rush some of them, so we can pump out vets quicker. We need to basically rebuild our entire pike force- i think our big attack for turn 132 will have to be delayed.

more importantly before barracks are defenders, KISS have a load of swordsmen now that can attack undefended areas.

We did not have any workers in the pike stack, so we should not have lost any. It is good that things happened this way. If we had moved our offensive forse in we probably couldn't have taken the city anyway. They attacked with 11 units (not counting trebuchest) and we only have 13 immortals. I'm sure they have pikes in Spite so I doubt we would have succeeded in our siege. At least our offense is intact and they don't know where we are I think that will prevent them from pressing thier advantage for now.

well they told me there sending over another load of units, whether they are lying or not is questionable.

Sorry about my lack of a reply thus far, but I've been extremely pressed for time the past couple of weeks.

For the time being, we need to build barracks in every single core city that does not have one. Having vets instead of regulars will be helpful. Also, can we have a worker or two join Unabomb to boost that cities production?

We also need to get tiles near Provobomb, Vbruanopolis, and Shilhanopolis worked. Every single one of these cities are working an un-modified tile. Dynopolis is also working an un-modified tile.

It also seems that the galls are placing most of their units in Malice and then using the road to move them quickly. There is only one pikeman in Spite at the moment. We may beable to use this to our advantage. Someone will have to look at this for me, but I think it's possible to use our road network directly east of Spite to attack with a horseman in one turn (not retreat, but attack).

If it is possible, and if I'm right about the galls strategy (which I believe I am right, as if they did put any units in spite we would know how many they have) then we need to build 3-4 horsemen as quickly as possible. Use them to kill the pikeman and disband Spite.

Okay, I just checked to see if it's possible in the editor. I would like to show you guys a demostration of our new weapon:

Our horses our located outside of gallic sight, ready to strike:

Our horses move to the location outside of Spite, ready to attack:

Now, you see using the roads, once our horses have moved outside of Spite, they are still able to attack the city. Using this tatic, we can burn Spite to the ground. We use considerably less units also :)>

lurker's comment: How do you know there is only 1 pike in Spite?? - (I'm not saying there is, nor am I saying there isn't)

In Civ 3 you can only see the strongest defender in a city; all others (if present) are invisible until they become the strongest defender. The only way to see the amount of units in a city is "investigate city" using a diplomat (which is impossible in wartime).
I think you've played Civ 4 too much. :p

as rik said, i doubt they would only leave 1 unit in spite and why do you assume they move all their troops in and out of spite and malice, what would they gain from doing that?

we can build a barracks in our cities yes but we need a unit or 2 to defend them first!

Yeah, it seems that I have been playing to much Civilization 4. Damn it Rik, I was excited that we may have found a flaw in the gall defenses, then you had to go and ruin my hope!

Regardless, this can still be used to our advantage. They don't have more that 9 gallic swordsmen in that city, otherwise they wouldn't have allowed our pike to live. The only thing left to speculation is how many pikemen are there.

erm KISS are apparantly founding another city next turn as well, whether it is on our continent or not is a completly different matter, this means they've probably brought over more units as well.
