The Gauntlet of Eight

I bet Grs would play. or Romeo. Or DocT. Or DH.

Do you want any more names? :p

Here's my save:

Sounds good!:) Welcome aboard GRS. Go ahead and take the save. Please ignore the fact that the name is going to be stuck in handy900... and don't worry, you don't have to declare war on everyone if you don't want to.:p

Can't we offer it to another person first, without handy where he was, there will be a gap in the map which will give those near to him an advantage.
So what has changed now?

Ok, now a few questions. It took me some time to open and save it and I might state the obvious, but I just want us all (and that means me) doing the right thing.

1. Is it correct I need to start up "Multiplayer" then select "PBEM" "and game mode "Load a game"?
2. I save just by passing at the end of the turn and then use the ingame option, ok found that out myself.
3. What does happen with IBT moves? For example Alerum might kill one of my men or a barb horse plunders my town. How do I get knowledge of these things? I could think of sending a pm or email with the save like "Here's the game and btw. Entremont and Alesia are now mine :p ". What about barb moves? Is there an ingame replay or are just guessing here?
4. About trading: I would like to trade my feudalism for bede's republic and 40gpt for example. How do I do this? Send a pm to bede (the person behind the monk) with the request seems obvious, but how is it done ingame?
5. All tool forbidden I guess (mapstat for example).
6. Is there any rpg policy of trading?
7. No passwords on the players?

I just loaded the save as normal, didn't go into PBEM or anything like that.

I believe that you will not see any IBT losses. But I think this is all our first times on this so I only know by hearsay. Maybe you are on to something that you should post any captured or destroyed cities to this thread.

I think for trading you agree ahead of time, and then on your turn you put up the offer, and on their turn they put up their side and then back to your next turn you can finally accept it :) Of course I'm guessing as I've never done it :)

I don't see why we can't use CivReplay MapStat just like we do in the GOTM, with the spoiler peace unchecked.

I put a password on mine, and its not that I don't trust you guys, but you never know somebody could be lurking.

I am not sure if loading it either way makes a difference in the end. When you do it via the multiplayer menu does not let you save in your turn, but open a save menu when you press space at the end and exits the game; plus it shows you all game rules before you start. I think it was meant that way, but again I am not sure. Sadly there is no faq in this fourm.

I think I misread the password question at the start and therefore left it blank - maybe I get the option once it comes around again.

Grs - Yes, just load it as normal

Actually, you lucked out regarding barbs, the last person in the order sees the ai moves. The rest of us will be guessing. A PM to the appropriate person disclosing big changes, like taking a city, may be in order.

Smackster is right aboiut the trading. Of course the haggling can be done in game, but that's not very efficient, as you can modify your offer only once per turn.

I also don't see a problem with the GOTM version of Mapstat.

I put a PW on mine too. If nopthing else, then it will prevent spoiler info if Bede accidentally hits continue, rather than save&exit. :p

I have played around with a PBEM, but really my multiplayer experience is with hotseat, which is the same thing, but played on the same computer.

EDIT: you will NOT get the option to re-enter the PW. You can either replay the turn, or trust me.

Well I could replay, but I think there are so many other "options", I should trust you on this one too.

Just another question: what difficulty level is the game? I know there is no AI, but what can I expect in regards to content citizens, OCN and attack bonus vs barbs?
Oh, and I have to reread the manual what's a wonder victory. Never played with that on.

I have no idea what difficulty this is on.

BTW, grs - Just in case this game ever gets back to me (nudge, nudge), you'll need to PM me your e-mail address.

I think to get a wonder victory, you have to control the most wonders at the end. Sort of like an alternate histo?

I asked for it as I will be sending the game to you, not Alerum. :p

I would think the times would work out favorably since you are at the end of the rotation, though I am not sure where all of us reside. (MB and Alerum in particular)

I'm in calfornia, so there will be about a 12-16 hour gap between mine and GRS gameplay.

everything else you guys covered very well.:)

I believe I put the level on Emperor or DG.

Alright, I rethought something, and would prefer if the save was posted in the thread... the reason? I can't stand knowing where the save is, and how much longer before I get it.:p Y'all wouldn't mind would you?

Edit: Since GRS didn't have a password, would you mind actually keeping his private Sesn? I know it's asking for you to post twice, but I think it would speed up game play.

GRS, if you can have the save to me by 6:30am pacific time, which I believe is 3:30pm there, I can have the save posted on the site for Scouts by 8:00am pacfiic time, excluding sunday and monday... that will more likely be by 12pm pacfici time... Days off.;)

What do you mean, not post my save? Why would that make me post twice?

Wouldn't it just be easier to post something like "save sent to grs"?

EDIT: but not just for me, you would post that you sent it to Scout. There is no need to actually p[ost the save since only the next person in the list can use it. Now if someone would prefer to post the save here, then that's an entirely different story.

Speaking of which, who will be posting the first "sent to" note?
