The German Reich - Continued

.

I wish I wasn't always in the position of creating units and setting them up, while the person after me gets all the fun, and valor. Could somebody do the setting up instead? I really want to do some fighting. So whoever is before me just do what I always do. It seems like I am the one rebuilding units and all, and putting those units in their positions, for the next person to just use.

Anyway, about that wonder weapon, V2's? Jets? NUkes? Please tell.;)

Ohwell, you did set me up pretty good to continue the advance on Thebes, and I thank you.

But you only played about 5 turns and claimed defeat. You could have played alot more turns.

You were actually doing really good and didnt know it.

Suggestion: Use your bombardment units more and keep advances to a slow pace. Civ3 is different in that respect. In Civ2 you could just hurl units into cities. Not now.

Right now I have a huge stack on the hill east of Thebes, and I probably wont send in the panzers for at least one, maybe two more turns. I want the artillery to soften them up like guacamole before our panzers get chewed up in wasted attacks.

Im nervous about it. I fear the defenders will be tough. One good thing is the river is on the other side of the city from us. Knight-Dragon will appreciate that.;)

Whoever goes after me will still have alot to do, actually several players worth to do. You will get another shot at 'em Ohwell, so sit tight!

EDIT: Once we finished radio, the modern age began. Our cities look really cool! Being the scientific Germans we got a free tech; Rocketry! We now have cruise missles (V-2s) and Fighter Jets (Me-262s)!

I started reasearching computers, to get Mech Inf, but it will be about 30 turns. Our science rate sucks from the corruption. Lets just kill Egypt and not have to worry about tech anymore.:D

I new that. How do you think I got Alexandria to size 7? By poisoning their water supply??? I think not;) . I was trying to bombard until size 6, where it is a town, with no defense bonus. The I would bombard unitl all the units were somewhat damaged. THEN I would attack. I definatley did not rush my attack. I thought to myself, "Your doing it too slow!". But I didn't want to risk it. It was getting quite tedious, so, I abdicated. Thats all.

BTW, In my game as Russia, I make extensive use of my artillery. I have had a 2000 year long war with Germany, several 50 turn wars with China, and a particularly brutal war with the late France. I finally ended the war with Germany. I would say without artillery I would have lost. I lost about 230 infantry the entire war, 100 or so tanks. The Germans, lost much less, but were fighting a offensive defence war, in which they would defend for the most part with counterattacks. I razed 3 o/f their cities, they didn't gain any ground, though they got 12 workers. After the peace, me, Greece, India, and Germany alied against China, who was getting quite strong. (I was the only one with rocketry at the time, my Jet fighters were plentiful). My artillery at the northern front detered all Chinese offense. They din't even get to my cities!

It's in the nature of succession games that such things can happen. But don't worry, there's still a LOT of fighting left. ;) The Egyptians still got lots of oversized cities. ;)

Since only four of us (no idea about Mike or Pychosis), we'll all have a lot of things to do. In my case, I'll prob only play 2-3 turns cos the turns are really damn long, so you'll have your shot. Fr now on, I perceive there'll be a long flow of units into Egypt and continual razing of even more Egyptian cities. :D

Ohwell, please dont take it personal. I was just trying to be helpfull.

In your summary post you stated the elite panzers were being defeated by the mech inf, and my experience has been opposite. So I just assumed... My mistake, sorry!

Anyway, heres a little funny thing I wanted to share:

When I rush-build something in one of our cities, the domestic advisor pops up and says "That could cost the lives of two of our citizens! Are you sure?"

The replys are "No, lets reconsider" or "Ohwell, let it be so".

Every time I see that I think of you, Ohwell!

 Pretty funny! I guess I am a little too opressive on the citizenry. But I didn't take your comment personally, it was just a misunderstanding. But I never would have dreamed of using all this artillery until this game, it opened my eyes to the wonders of land bombardment. But thank you for the suggestion. But those egyptian mech inf, even the conscripts, were killing, or damaging, elite panzers. More damaged than killed, but bad nonetheless.

Thebes is no more!

1st Army-Group has destroyed the Egyptian capitol, captured two artillery units and eight workers were disbanded. Another Great Wonder has been lost forever, Newton's University! No German units were lost!

The newly formed 2nd Army-Group landed north-west of Elephantine with heavy naval and air support, and will become the hammer to 1st Army-Groups anvil.

Egypt is almost split in two!

The Kreigsmarine and the Wehrmacht together have successfully denied oil to Egypt for three full turns, and the effects are noticeable already. They are conscripting infantry instead of mech inf, and riflemen in some cut-off cities.

The last usable rubber tile is within striking distance, west of 1st Army-Group. In a few turns they will have neither oil nor rubber anymore.

The tricky part is the oil where Asyut was, its still within their border. Our panzers must raid the spot every two turns to stop new workers from building road on it. At least untill more cities are razed.

The never-ending battle for Bremershaven.

Two more massive attacks were launched at Bremershaven, resulting in the loss of six German infantry and three panzers. Egypt lost 14 tanks, six cavalry and four mech inf. Two artillery were captured by panzers.

Infantry production in Germany was stepped up, and replacements airlifted into Bremershaven.

The Egyptians wasted almost all their offensive units, unsucessfully, against our little town instead of our Army-Group. A bad call on their part, so much the better for us.

The Japanese are going somewhere, but I cant figure out their erratic movements. I am keeping an eye on them...

The credit for my "evil plan" goes to Knight-Dragon, for something he thought up recently.

I decided to send an envoy to feel out Cleopatra for a peace treaty.

They must really be hurting now, because she caved in to all my demands! We got 1500 gold, their world map and computers!

I promptly thanked her for the exchange and as soon as we recieved our bounty, I declared war again!

Backstabbed, baby! Oh man, what a dummy! Now we have mech infantry!!!

We had better win this war now, because no one will ever trust us again. But what the hell, they started it. And Japan switched sides four times if I remember correctly.

:satan:

Well, Im off to start Phase 3.

(Phase 3 - Destroy everything in sight!)

Another attack on Bremershaven fails, and Egypt loses six more tanks, a cavalry and a mech inf.

The very first German mech infantry unit arrives in Bremershaven via airlift! Big beer-bash is held!

Three Army-Groups now operating in Egypt, all to be reinforced with mech inf very soon. Each has a different city objective. Its triple the destruction! :D

Well, Im off to bed! Will finish in the morning and the next player can go.

Oh, BTW: We are now researching fission. There is also a great leader in Berlin. This makes for an interesting possibility in about 30 turns...

*whew*

Lots of units to move, and I'm really getting sick of chasing pollution.

Other than that, it was a grand time.:D

We have three Army-Groups now, all fully equipped. One is heading for Athens, one is still bombarding Memphis (the new capitol, needs one or two more turns of bombardment), and the third is heading for Lisht after just sacking Byblos (I killed than damn frigate in the lake too!).

Egypt has had no oil or rubber for 5 turns, and all they can make is cavalry and riflemen now.

Bremershaven comes under attack every turn still, I have killed over 100 Egyptian cavalry there. The infantry army is too much for them, and I wipe out the survivors with the panzers stationed there.

Salzburg founded (on a hill!) where Elephantine used to be. So far barracks, airport and harbor built. It is fortified well, but still needs walls. I put infantry on the surrounding hills, they were sneaking riflemen onto them, why I dont know.

There is a transport with a settler offshore if another base city is needed, but at this point, I doubt it. Two seems to be enough.

There is another empty transport heading for Pharsalos, fill it with some panzers and head for Shantung. Kill their damn workers near the oil! Its like a damn clown show up there! I blow up everything and the next turn they build it again...Grrr!

Objectives: Destroy Memphis, Lisht and Athens. Get Pi-Ramses next, I should have done that myself. My goof. It keeps the oil in their borders and ties north to south. Raze it!

FYI - They lost battlefield medicine when we razed Elephantine. They still have alot of wonders around somewhere...

OK, Knight-Dragon, here it is!

Evil man evil! :D Let's make sure we do not take the risk of running for the UN election now..... :p Like we need to...

Alright, up next is either Pychosis or Mike. Pls post first before playing so that you two won't play concurrently. As they've skipped many times, let's give them some time to see if they're still interested in playing. ;)

 Youre getting tired of this one, eh?

I dont blame you, its alot of work now.

We can just about claim victory, as they are highly screwed now. No oil and rubber = no infantry, tanks and artillery. We are chugging out panzers and mech inf, and have three city-razing armies at work.

If everyone wants to play til a conclusion, I'll stick it out.

If the concensus is to start a new Chinese game, so be it.

Im sure Ohwell wants one more crack at the panzers though.:hammer:

After the length of my last turn, I guess it will take about 50 more turns minimum to destroy all of Egypt. Probably more. And chasing pollution is very time consuming, I find it annoying. I wish there was an engineer type unit that worked faster.

I doubt those guys are going to show up, but I agree they deserve a shot.

C'mon Mike! Youre missing all the fun!

Of coz, we shall stick it out till the end. This is the funnest part in the whole game.

Not that I'm tired; just slightly busy over the past few weekends, so no time to play long turns. Well, yeah, guess I'm tired then cos busy. :p

My new house in J.B., M'sia is fit for occupation and moving in on Jan 27, so there're lots of things to do. You cannot believe how many things to do. And spend on. :(

Mike and/or iPsychosis -

You have 1 more day, where are you guys?

You are seriously missing out on some fun. Theres Egyptian cities to raze, and panzers galore! Jet fighters too! Lets go!

PS - We might have the atomic bomb soon too...

Edit: I am unable to delete any posts, sorry!

I wanted to post a screenshot, but my trial converter expired.

Does anyone have one I can download?

It seems unlikely we'll see either Mike or Pychosis anytime soon. So I'll be playing tonite (after I get back fr work) in say another 10 hours. ;)

If you guys are around and want to play before me, pls post here and then play. Can't wait to hit some more Egyptian cities. :p

I can hardly recognize the map. Egypt doesn't look so tough now, does it?

1982
A force of seven Egyptian cavalry sallied forth against Bremenshaven. None shall live to return home....

3 conscripted Egyptian riflemen neared Salzburg. They shall never see their homeland again either....

Bombardment of Memphis continued....

1983
Yet another force of seven cavalry stormed Bremenshaven but to no avail. They shall die outside the city walls....

Army Group West reached Athens!

Army Group Central razed Memphis. The Egyptian army generously donated 5 artillery divisions to further our cause. The Army Group headed for Byblos....

1984
9 Egyptian cavalry attked Salzburg! None shall live to see the next year....

Army Group East reached Lisht!

Bombardment of Athens commenced....

Our forces landed outside Shantung. Egyptian workers scurried away like the rats they are.

We are now hitting their horse tiles. I have cut off two; there's one more outside Byblos. Not sure if there're anymore..... Let's stop them fr building cavalry and reduce them to producing longbowmen (which they are already doing  ).... :D

1985
Army Group West continued bombarding Athens!

Army Group East commenced bombardment of Lisht!

Our forces razed Shantung and put that oil there beyond their reach forever! Captured 6 workers as well. Note - to be shipped back to Germany to serve as our slaves. Mwahahahaha!

2 cavalry attked Salzburg in desperation. They died.....

End

We are running out of time. Let's win before the game ends....

I love a happy story! *sniff*

<lights a cigarette>:smoke: Ahhhhh!

Just dont let Ohwell go next, or Egyptian Longbowmen will kill all our panzers. ;)

 :rotfl:

Just funnin' ya Ohwell!

You are doing a great job guys! Keep it up! :D

I downloaded your last save and enjoyed blasting the hell out Egyptians for a turn or so!

A word of warning though - youur culture value is almost 70,000 but according to foreign advisor Egypt is unimpressed with your culture. Unimpressed means that their culture is 4:3 compared to yours, meaning they have at least 90,000 culture points!!!

So finish them off very quickly otherwise they might win culturally by getting 100,000 culture points!!!

unless of course you disabled cultural victory...
