GFX FLAVOR MOD (For PTW and Conquests)

This mod replaces the unit graphics for several of the units in the game. For example; almost all the asian ancient and middle age units. Where I've mostly used the japanese units that came with PTW. In total there are 124 new units (72 in the PTW version). Some you already have (with Conquests or PTW), where 5 of them are just copies with new names for the other asian nations of other units (in the japanese units example, so there is effectively 119 new unit graphics in the conquests version).
Many of the units are used for an entire cultural group. For example; the European Swordsman are used with all the European civs that didn't have a unique swordsman graphics already, plus as the american swordsman unit. (Because they are really mostly european).

I hope you enjoy this mod, and please tell me if I've used any graphics the wrong way, or if there is new graphics I could use.

AND, Please tell me of every bug you can find. Mostly in upgrade chains, and faults in the ini files (that makes the game crash when you build the unit).
I've spent alot of time Debuging this, and I was quite thorough when I added the units, but when you add up to 90 units in one day, you are prone to make a mistake here and there ;)
Hopefully, I've eliminated all of them :scan:.

Again, hope you enjoy this mod. And look out for future Updates, they will surely come.

And, yeah, I will probably do a Stats Flavour version too, with different stats on the flavour units, to make each civ a little more "flavoured".

Have Fun! :D

P.S. there is documentation about almost every unit in this mod in the 2nd post. And there are Screenshots in the 3rd post of this thread.

[c3c] Conquests Version [c3c]

GFX_Flavour_Mod_CONQUESTS_(27 Mb).zip
GFX_Flavour_C3C_Patch_1.25.zip (17.4 Mb)
Here's the PTW Extra units that didn't come with C3C that you will need:
WW2_units.zip (7.1 Mb)
GFX_Flavour_Mod_patch_1.32.zip (1.3 Mb)
Extract the folder to your Conquests/Scenarios folder. Say yes to overwriting the old files.

Instructions
Just place the GFX_Flavour -folder and GFX_Flavour.biq -file in your Civilization III\Conquests\Scenarios -folder.

If you don't know where your Civilization III folder is, it's probably in "C:\program files\infogrames\" or something similar.

Finally, extract the PTW Extras units to the "\Civilization III\Civ3ptw\extras\World War II\" -folder.

If you are downloading the Conquests version, you do not need to download anything else.

[ptw] PTW Version [ptw]

Instructions

The file in the end of this post is the first of 2 files you need to download for this mod. The 2nd file is in the end of the next post.

You need to download all the units in the 2nd post.
RECOMMENDATION: Alternatively you could download the GFX_Flavour_Mod_CONQUESTS_(27 Mb).zip, and then only download the following units:

- African Spearman
- Crusader
- Napoleonic Rifleman
- Hussar and
- Longboat

And here is the 2nd file:
GFX_Flavor_Folder(file_2_of_2).zip is 273.5 Kb
GFX_Flavor_Folder(file_2_of_2).zip

Installation Process:

  • 1.) Download all the above files.
2.) Extract and place the "GFX Flavor.bix" inside your "Civ3ptw\Scenarios\" folder
3.) Extract the "GFX Flavor" -folder from the 2nd file to the same location as the "GFX Flavor.bix" file.
4.) Place all the unit files you downloaded into the "GFX Flavor\Art\units" -folder. *
    5.) Repeat step 3.
* The Napoleonic Rifleman should go in the "EarlyRifleman" folder.

NOTE: If you are downloading the Conquests folder to use with the PTW version, you need to rename it to "GFX Flavor".

They were Polish and they came later then the era of knights I believe, but Poland is sortof the same culture as Russia, and knights is the better unit to replace (as we shouldn't remove the Cossack :) ). (You can add Poland yourself to the game and have this unit as UU, but this flavor mod is ONLY graphics, no rule changes or additions)

Yes I know, I posted in the wrong forum. I have asked Gonzo to move it.

wait, what this does is give every civ a unique unit for every unit!(stats the same) if it is, good work grey fox!

Not all units yet... but many :)

Medieval Cavalry - by JimmyH
Use: Aztec, Zulu and Iroquois Knight replacement.

This unit looks more roman/greek to me, why do you use it for the american civs?

I don't know... probably because I used the Cataphract as a knight unit for the Roman-Greek civs.

And I though it looked kinda darkish, with a feather on it's head.

Japanese Imperial Marines - TVA22
Use: Japanese Rifleman replacement.

No offence, but i would use this as a marine replacement, may i ask why you havent?:)

Hmmm... maybe it would be better if you had the first file simply extract a filetree to stick all of the dwonloaded units into, and then have the second zip file extract into all those folder once all downloads are complete, therefore having the ini's overwrite the original ini's, and have the bix file in the second zip too, (or first it doesn't really matter)

BTW, I think this is the first mod I'll actually play. :)

EDIT: NM, I'll extract the second one first, download all the units and put them in their folders, and then extract the second one again.

Because the Marine has an Automatic Rifle. This unit shoots with a weapon you have to reload after each round.

there doesn't appear to be a napoleonic rifleman folder......

and I think the arabian knight goes in the middleeast knight folder.... (royal kinsmen?)

Yes it says so in the How To... doesn't it :p

Oh... yeah, the napoleonic Rifleman should go in the "EarlyRifleman" folder.

I don't really get the first part. And I divided the downloads because I wanted statistics on the download count, and with the upload feature that's not possible.

Yep, me too :p

Yep, this was my first thought.

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

The 10 of you that has already downloaded this mod, you have to UNCHECK the Debug mode before playing.

It's in the Editor under scenario properties.

Sorry about that, forget to do it myself :(
