The History of ancient Iran

:) Well, Herodotus has written down a story about a battlefield in Egypt. I think someone told him the story, but maybe he was there himself, I don't remember. Anyway, one of the local civilians was on the battlefield with this stranger (Herodotus or someone else) and the stranger asked questions about the battlefield. Then the civilian picked up two skulls, looking exact the same. The first one, he hit with a hammer, and it broke in hundreds of pieces. The second one, he hit with a hammer too, yet this one did only crack a little bit. When the stranger asked the civilian to explain this, the story was following: The skulls that break are Persian skulls, the ones that withstand a hit were of Egyptian soldiers. The reason why Egyptian skulls don't break, is because they shave their heads, and the sunlight hardens their head and skulls, while Persians always have hair and wear tulbands (or something).....

I think he ends the story with his usual judgement like "I personally think this is a true story, blablablabla"

Most of the people who posted in this thread no longer come to CFC. If you want an answer to your question, try posting it in the "History Questions that aren't worth their own thread" thread here in World History. Someone may know the answer. Perhaps Dachs, who is a bit of an expert on the polities in that area, albeit from a slightly different time period. Alternatively, someone there may at least be able to suggest a website or other forum with the information you're looking for.
