The Hunter Biden Thread

Sure, but you are in a thread, so you should at least bother to say what a video you posted is about. This is a Hunter Biden thread, so relevance to that is also needed.

"Sign of accountability", I am sure the regular members of the public don't get a slap on the wrist for such illegal conduct, and he shouldn't either.
I think the point is regular members of the public would be unlikely to face charges, especially for the gun charge. I think paying back missed unpaid taxes also usually gets people off.

Why call it "sign of accountability" then, if it's blatantly against Hunter? The drug issue doesn't lead to Usians facing charges either I suppose.

Maybe explain what a video with "Trump" in the still has to do with Hunter Biden.
Though I'd stay away from Tyt videos regardless :vomit:

Rather simple: all this Hunter Biden nonsense is the Republicans' way of trying to change the subject from Trump.

Which leads to it being good to change the subject of this thread from H.Biden by referring to Trump.

Regardless, this is a thread about Biden, there are threads about Trump too.
Imo he shouldn't be given a plea deal if "regular people" would up to serve time for the same crime. Which at least the drug-related ones would land them.

The plea deal was put on hold for for clarity issues with legal implications and not political issues. They will likely be resolved.

WaPo:
But the agreement quickly fell apart in court for two reasons:
  1. The plea deal initially did not protect Hunter Biden from prosecution for other potential charges in connection with a long-running government investigation into his business dealings. When the federal judge asked Hunter Biden if he would plead guilty knowing he could still face additional charges, he said no. Prosecutors in the courtroom maintained this was part of the agreement all along. “Then we misunderstood, we’re ripping it up,” Biden lawyer Chris Clark snapped at them. The two sides then quickly reworked the deal to include immunity for certain tax, drug and gun charges between 2014 to 2019, essentially the main time period covered by the investigation.
  2. The judge then raised constitutional questions. She noted that the immunity provisions were tucked into the agreement involving the gun charge, which she does not actually have to approve. That’s because diversion agreements are forged between prosecutors and defense attorneys. Plea agreements, on the other hand, must be approved by a judge. But the diversion agreement includes language saying the judge could revive the gun charge if Hunter Biden violated the terms of the agreement. The judge said she did not think she has the power to do so.

Which leads to it being good to change the subject of this thread from H.Biden by referring to Trump.
The internet rots the brain.

Maybe it just exposes it?

Trump and Biden Jr are both terrible people that are going to get the kiddy-gloves "you've been a bad boy" treatment. If you're fine with one, and not fine with the other, I dunno? That would probably indicate the stuff going on in your brain isn't worth sharing. Like that ever stopped any of us before.

Yawn. One guy is a failson who cashed in on daddy's name and partied too hard. The other tried to violently overthrow the US government.

I'm not "fine with" either one I guess, but let's be real, Hunter Biden is already facing more consequences than most rich failsons ever face. I don't see what the big deal is, to my knowledge no one, even Joe & Jill, is saying Hunter shouldn't be facing consequences. Plenty of people are saying Trump shouldn't face any consequences because he did nothing wrong.

It's all good except the "let's be real." Partied too hard to the tune of millions in tax evasion. Seems a real winner of a father, too. But we digress.

But I get the feeling that's just politics mushing the principles into something more selective.

Sort of like solidarity with high-paid unions striking. It's really not the principle of economic equity that's in play, it's something otherwise.

Billy Beer!

^ "Clark acquiesced to the government's position that any immunity of Hunter Biden would only include tax, firearm, and drug-related conduct investigated by the government."

Why is Biden offered any immunity? What's to be gained by the court if they give him that? Tax/firearm/drug crimes immunity does sound a bit too high a price to pay anyway for a plea.

"Sign of accountability", I am sure the regular members of the public don't get a slap on the wrist for such illegal conduct, and he shouldn't either.

The tax stuff usually won't land someone in jail unless it is millions of dollars.

Hunter barely reached the threshold, but was able to get a $2 million+ loan from his lawyer and paid them off in 2021.

He sold over $1 million of artwork to that same lawyer, a woman who got a cushy government job from President Joe Biden, and some other people who remain mysterious.

Did he start paying back the $2 million+ loan from his lawyer? Nope.

Even more important was that Hunter Biden was wasted on drugs at the time he didn't pay his taxes.

The IRS only jails clear-headed people for significant tax evasion.

These two things, the drug use and paying the delinquent taxes, means a regular person would probably not face jail time.

The IRS whistleblowers who committed career suicide indicate consensus was reached on felony charges, but was blocked by Biden appointed prosecutors who of course had that discretion if they didn't think they could get a conviction.

Mr Shapley said that the IRS had largely concluded its investigation by the end of 2021 and recommended that Hunter Biden be charged with multiple tax fraud felonies. The agency officially referred those conclusions to US government attorneys in Washington DC, in February 2022, and in California in September 2022. Neither took action.

Ultimately, Mr Weiss brought charges against Mr Biden as part of a plea deal - but for misdemeanours that carry no prison time, not the felonies the IRS investigators recommended.

The struggles and scandals of Hunter Biden
In a 7 October 2022 meeting, Mr Shapley described how Mr Weiss told a group of senior IRS and FBI officials that he "was not the deciding person on whether charges are filed". Mr Shapley documented the meeting, which he attended, in an email later that day to an IRS colleague.

"That was my red line," Mr Shapley said during his Oversight Committee testimony. "The justice department allowed the president's political appointees to weigh in on whether to charge the president's son."

He said the following month, the statute of limitations was allowed to lapse on Hunter Biden's 2014 and 2015 tax returns, even though prosecutors could have sought an extension.

The illegal gun possession usually only gets charged if another crime was committed, usually involving the gun.

It was found in a trash can behind a store across the street from a school and vanished, so everyone was in a panic it might get used in a crime.

Thankfully it was returned by an old man who dumpster dives.

If it had been used in a crime, Hunter would have been in some trouble!

So after looking at everything, I now think a regular person is not looking at any jail time over this stuff.

The judge will come around soon.

I think she was up in arms over the broad granting of immunity for crimes Hunter is still under investigation for.

An expected deal for Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, to plead guilty to two federal tax misdemeanors was torpedoed by a federal judge Wednesday over concerns about the "broad" immunity afforded by prosecutors in the deal, as well as its "unique" structure.

After an hours-long hearing that included multiple dramatic court recesses, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to the federal charges after Judge Maryellen Noreika deferred his attempts to plead guilty in a deal that she at times described as potentially "unconstitutional" and lacking "legal precedent."

In doing so, she ordered both defense attorneys, as well as federal prosecutors, to submit more paperwork justifying the legal legitimacy of both the plea deal, as well as a separate agreement for prosecutors to dismiss a weapons felony.

She also ordered the parties to clarify language that could grant Hunter Biden immunity for potential future prosecution related to his foreign investment and consulting work that has seen him rake in millions of dollars over the past decade.

What good is money and power if you can't spend it on friends and family?

The system is working as intended.

It would be different if Hunter murdered someone.

There are limits to money and power in a system that is not corrupt.

The hero is certainly Hunter's lawyer here.
With one written check he changed the situation.
Usually people pay their lawyers, not get money from them.

I really feel for the Secret Service members who get dog bites and just have to tolerate it.

President Biden's dog Commander has found himself in the doghouse after a series of incidents where he bit Secret Service officers on duty at the White House.

The German shepherd bit several Secret Service agents a total of 10 times during the four-month period between October 2022 and January 2023, records show. One incident resulted in an agent getting sent to the hospital for treatment.

...

The Bidens had another dog that bit agents, too.

The Bidens brought two German shepherds with them when they moved into the White House in 2021: Champ, who died at age 13 that year, and Major, a younger dog adopted from a shelter.

But after a couple of biting incidents — and consultations with experts — Major was sent to a live with family friends of the Bidens, for safety reasons.

The President's dogs are both still alive and biting. :salute:

Again, I don't know a single Democrat who believes Hunter Biden should not be criminally investigated. If you are aware of any Democrat who thinks the charges against Hunter Biden are a "witch hunt" and a dangerous weaponization of the Justice Department, please point them out.

What I and most other Democrats do think is that these matters are a waste of Congress' time; or more accurately that Congress is only taking them up to do political damage to Joe.

I do not think Trump's crimes are a waste of Congress' time, but I submit that is not due to "politics" but due to the fact that Trump's crimes against the United States are actually an issue of national importance, particularly so given that he is a presumptive major party Presidential nominee in 2024.

So all in all just another case of nepotism on account of a piece of crap. Said piece of crap's ties to the current potus making it more publicized.

Correct, though I prefer the term "big dick playa" to "piece of crap".
