You might want to make a thread with all your civilizations in it, so that people can find them all at once :)

Oooooh, more African civs! <3

I really enjoy what you've been doing with this. Do you have any plans for civs from Central Africa? =]

Monomotapa and Maasai are coming soon ;)

I can make you Icons for those if you want (I already made a Maasai icon for Hiram.)

Spoiler :

I can change the colors if you want.

What colors would you like for Monomotapa?
I made a small "prototype".

For the Maasai, I've done a similar icon (the same, but red) and in the game , the civ is red and Brown...so I'm still searching a good civ background+icon colour. Yours are very pink :D but it's new and I can try if you have the color codes values (red/green/blue) for the icon and the background :)

For Monomotapa, this is what I have now:

with the following colour in the game:

ICON
<Red>0.3176</Red>
<Green>0.0941</Green>
<Blue>0.0392</Blue>
<Alpha>1</Alpha>

<BACKGROUND
<Red>0.0863</Red>
<Green>0.6584</Green>
<Blue>0.2345</Blue>
<Alpha>1</Alpha>

ALL OF THE YES.

ALL OF IT.

This was my own idea for a Maasai civ:-
Maasai (I'm extremely tempted to put Neiterkob as the leader, but that'd probably be ghastly of me. [=)
Start Bias: Grassland
UA: Enkai's Chosen
When the Maasai Capital is founded, one of the surrounding tiles gains the Cattle resource. When an enemy city is captured, the unimproved tile with the lowest yield and no other resources on it becomes a Cattle tile. If no such tiles in range, one random improved tile is replaced with an unimproved Cattle tile. Cannot build Pastures until Medieval era.
UU: O-Rinka Moran (Replaces Spearman)
Starts with the unique promotion Lion Hunter, giving the unit +1 Movement and +50% bonus experience gain when charging into combat. The unit retains this promotion when upgrading, and upgrades to the Longswordsman rather than the Pikeman.
UB: Enkang (Replaces Granary)
+2 :c5food:, +1 :c5production: per Cattle and Plains Tile, costs 90 :c5production: rather than 60 at Regular game pace.

No, there isn't a reference to adumu. That would be way, way too obvious. Instead, I focused on one of the central tenets of Maasai religion, that being that all the cattle in the world were given to them by Enkai and that therefore "rustling" is just taking back what is rightfully theirs, hence the bit in the UA about spawning Cattle next to captured cities. Hopefully, this isn't too imba.

Oh, and concerning the O-Rinka: I know it's a kind of throwing club (and a nastily effective one at that), but I didn't want to make another Impi and it fits the ethos of them being rustlers and raiders, launching the o-rinka into the fray before the stabbing begins. The reason the unique promotion is called Lion Hunter is because, well, the Maasai still hunt lions. How they do it is basically chasing after the poor beast until it keels over from exhaustion, at which point getting stabbed with a spear is largely ceremonial. =]

EDIT #1: Renamed the UU to O-Rinka Moran on Hoop's guidance.

EDIT #2: Nerfed the UA on Hoop's guidance. It really was a little on the OP side. Hopefully this is less game-breaky. =]

Wherever I've ever read about the Maasai the name of their Warriors have always been Moran, so maybe that should be the UU name?

Sadly that data didn't work in Photoshop so I had to try to get it as close as possible myself.

For the Maasai, how about this?

Also, are there any other Civ's you're interested in doing since I have a huge folder with Icons I made just for fun.

I was following the Firaxis tradition of people with weird weapons being named after the weapon rather than the name of the warrior (cf. Atlatlist), but yeah, Moran makes more sense. What did you think of the Civ ideas themselves?

I like your both maasai icons (the pink one and the red one) , have you got the RGB datas (so I can put and try them in the game as civ colors)?

For Monomotapa's, could you try with this icon?

Civ certainly seems synergistic, but damn those are lots of Cows, the UB could get really, really powerful very quickly, though the Cattle can work against you I guess, maybe remove the starting cattle? (Or reduce it to 1)

Yeah, I think you're right, it'd make a lot more sense to only give them one starting Cattle. They grow too fast too quickly, and I imagine that if you're playing against them on Deity, a carpet of O-Rinka Moran would not be pleasant to deal with since they get them so early on (I'd plan on making them a very aggressive Civ to reflect their warrior nature). It's OP and it needs a change.

How you'd actually -mod- it, of course, is another matter entirely. I'm fairly new to Civ and I've got the computer know-how of a concussed hedgehog in a bag, so someone more talented (by which I mean someone talented) would have to do it. =]

I put your Icon in the mod and I've change the civ color with your RGB code :goodjob:

My Kanem Bornu icon could be better, your help would be welcomed :) (it's a very wellknown african "adinkra", very easy to find with Google image)
