The Kingdoms of Imsdan: Lizard's NES

To TIR
I would suggest making a pact with Rakill for safe transit of your goods, I could escort them to the border if you want but I won't touch another states soil for some spices. Also you must not attack Adsul

Expect the update sometime tommorow afternoon. I just need to finish up some military stuff, and we are good.

Haseri, I'm still missing your orders, if yo could get them in to me by tommorow, I'll still take them, but I'm not going to wait.

Orders sent. Story coming soon.

The next update is relatively ready. Haseri, if you can get that story up in the next hour, before I post it, you'll still have a window to let it count.

You had to be stupid or desperate to be out on the mountains while Mother Bear had taken in the Sun. Snow was falling heavily, but not fast enough to be a blizzard, yet. The hunters needed to bring back food before the blizzard, or they wouldn't be returning at all.

There were dark shapes set against the snow. The elk used this time of the year as a brief respite from predators, all except the foxes, and they barely posed a threat. They were nuzzling the snow, trying to get at the meagre morsels of grass they lay deep below.

If the hunters could hit that sweet spot, it would go down instantly. This would scatter the rest of them. One or two would fall of the cliff that stood the other side of the elk from the hunters, to picked off by the hunters down below. The key word being 'if'.

A hunter fired the shot. It went down instantly, seen even through the veil of white. The rest scattered with a great noise. The hunters had to keep their ground and hope that Father Wolf was watching over them, and the elk did not come toward them.

The pickings were good. One full grown female elk, with two on the cusp of adulthood at the bottom of the cliff, and three children taken out by more arrows. They would last the rest of winter.

Before making their way down the cliff, the head hunter looked out. Down below, almost with a sharp drop, sharper than the cliff, were the plains. These contained the cities. Even with the snow falling, the lights of Tasck burned brightly. Elk horn fetched good prices down on the plains.

Political/World Events

The Yaseum Confederacy unsuccessfully attempted to stall anyway war that may break out between Esaya and East Esaya. While the cause was noble, it was futile at best, as the two nations have been staring at each other from across the border for roughly 100 years now, with neither side attempting to ease the tension.
As for now, the Confederacy will stay neutral, and busy itself with its own affairs.

Banfray's royal family was wed into Ketmir's, forming a strong bond between the nations, that may surely last for years.

Ketmir has gained quite a bit of land, while a nation looks sadly towards its future..
(see military events)

The Kingdom of Yulida attempted to reunited the remnants of the once great state of Abdol, but it seems little progress was made. The only members of the states that even attended were Pereb and Elhalm, both of which are very interested in union, and Irryn, who seemed more interested in keeping it's Republican government.
Yulida proposed a fairly democratic constitution, modeled after their own, but was declined by the representatives of Pereb and Elhalm, who in turn made suggestions to make the constitution a bit more favorable to the noble class. Irryn representatives in disgust, more or less walked out of the congress, and left Pereb, Elhalm and Yulida representatives fairly shocked. However, they were quick to rejoining their discussions, and began hoping Irryn would reconsider. Talks are currently on going, and with recent events, they could go either way.
(see military events)

The Oligarchy of the Northern Sea has finally looked to the island directly to its west. Thus far, the Island had held off any attempted at the Oligarchy to colonize it. But this time, the Oligarchy focused on it. At first, they sent gifts, and offered trade, to the small kingdom. It was completly rejected. And so, the Oligarchy reacted using military power (see Military Events).

Eventually, the island was subjegated, and the people given fairly equal rights. While the people are still upset, with what they consider a foriegn power in their land, if acts such as that keep coming, the people may finally relent, and accept the rule of the 5 families.

Craydonia protests stirred in the Eastern Provinces of the Empire. While, many were quickly 'silenced' the effects were felt throughout the region. Meanwhile, the Emperor kept up his usual grandoise lifestyle, to the anger of of its citizens.

The Yaseum Confederacy has declared itself a Federation. While many people feel this is a direct step towards forming a monarchy, it will allow the central government to better control its affairs. Peoples opinions on the change vary from not caring, to wishing to see their respective representative's heads on a plate.

Using this new-found power however, the Federation has become quite the economic powerhouse.
(See Domestic Events)

World various shipping lanes have been attacked. Though the damage is fairly minimal, it still ment some losses for various nations. The biggest problem came from the false-flags flown by the pirates, resulting in some diplomatic problems between the nations effected.
(See Military Events)

World Rumors spread throughout much of Onsam, Craydonia and Belz about each other. The rumors spread from Craydonia cracking down on what was seen as an unfinished rebellion (Belz) to Eastern Craydonians getting word that that the Western part of the Empire wished to crack-down on the region, to even various people in Onsam claiming it was indeed Craydonia who attacked their trade.
While some of the more ridiculous of the rumors we cast down, tensions still ran high between the nations, with stability falling. However, no conflict has been called for, and at this point, it is more of a 'he said, she said' situation.

Domestic Events

Banfray has spent towards opening a few roads to the inland, allowing for its otherwise secluded cities to stay connected, and upgraded a few ports of theirs.
(+1 to economic growth)

Banfray has also spent a large remainder of its treasury on the construction of 200 new merchant ships, to allow Banfrian goods to spread far and wide!
(+200 Merchant Ships)

Banfray has opened its much needed ports to any explorers or traders heading West-ward, for a fee, of course. However, do a lack of major exploration, the economic benefits are yet to be seen.

Ketmir has followed its neighbors example, and began expanding its economy through trade with Banfray, and building a larger merchant Marine.
(+1 ASP to Ketmir's Economic Growth, +100 Merchant Ships)

The Yaseum Federation entered an unprecedented rise on the economic scene. The Federation has gotten trade rights with many nations, greatly helping its economy along. Being the major trade hub on the South Sea, even other countries began feeling the effect. Countries included in on the trading are, Yulida, Banfray, and Irryn.
On top of that, it has established a trade system, allowing merchant marines to fund themselves, and in turn, fund more merchants, creating a possibly exponential growth in that area.

And finally, Moneylender Businesses started springing up in ports, using interest from banked money to lend it to others. Currently depending on the new central bank of the Government, in case, say a whole fleet of Merchants take out their deposits at the same time. If things keep going its way, the Federation will find itself on the fast track to actually backing a majority of the regional economies.
(+4 ASP to the Yaseum Federation's economic growth, +1 ASP to Yulida's economic growth, +1 ASP to Banfray's economic growth, +1 ASP to Irryn's economic growth, +1 ASP to Ketmir's exonomic growth.)

The Yaseum Federation was declared. While it took away some more fringe-freedomsaway from the people, that the old confederacy offered, it centralized the government, and more or less will allow for the Federations powers to be felt throughout the land.

While some people at first were a bit upset by this change in government, an extensive P-R campaign by the new president cooled many of the angry citizens tempers. While things aren't completely back to normal, it certainly snuffed some of the rebellious spirits among the detractors.

On top of that, a certainly reasonable democratic system, somewhat like what Irryn has been using, has been put into effect, easing some of the tensions. The original fear of gaining Tyrannical monarchy has indeed died for the most part. The few detractors that are left will more than likely assimilate in the coming years.
(+2 Stability to The Yaseum Federation)

Yulida, seemingly following Banfray's lead, also spent part of it's treasurey towards some infrastructure improvements, including the building of roads, and ports. Some money went to farms too, allowing for greater export.
(+2 ASP to Yulida's Economic Growth)

Creul has initiated trade with its Eastern neighbor, Randpol. While so far, few effects are seen, in the coming years this may lead to many economic benefits. Roads have been expanded, and good are flowing more freely between the two nations.
(+2 ASP to Creul's economic growth, +2 ASP to Randpol's economic growth)

The Oligarchy of the North Sea the newly captured regions have added some income to the nation.
(+1 ASP to The Oligarchy of the North Sea's income)

East Esaya despite the cold war going on with its Western Neighbor, the government has deemed it nescessary to expand his countries education, and in the process learned a few new social ideas, and succesfully implemented them in such a manner that it's people are looking at the government in a new way.
(+1 East Esaya stability)

Ranpol has greatly invested into its countries education, and learned some naval advances that will certainly help it against the war on piracy.

The Invasion of the North Sea Isles (612 PR)
Spoiler :

thewesternisle.jpg

The Western Island

At what started as a peaceful endeavor, ending with a mass murder. The North Sea Islanders looked at the Western island as their rightful territory. To save themselves the man power, and perhaps the time, the first true peaceful annexation attempt from the North Seas was taken. They sent ambassadors, and diplomats, to what the 'barbarians'.

Once the true reason for their gesture became clear, the diplomats were duly slaughtered. An insult no nation could take lightly. And so, 5 divisions of North Sea troops were landed on the cold, rocky coast, out of a lust for revenge, and territory.
The invasion started well enough, all major coastal villages and towns were occupied, and resistance was destroyed fairly quickly. The true problems came from the soldiers that attempted to climb the rocky, frozen mountains in the islands center. These mountains harbored many remnants of the 'barbarian' army, and using the terrain and climate as cover, commited many guerilla style strikes against the North Sea army. The effect was felt, as losses mounted. Finally, wether it be by sheer numbers, or tenacity, the entire island fell.

Despite the anger felt by the North Sea soldiers, they relented for the most part on looting, to keep relations between the people and the military civil.

Pirate Attacks in the North Sea (611-614 PR)
Spoiler :

theinquistor.jpg

the Inquistor faces off a pirate fleet in the North Sea, off the coast of Belz

Trade routes were assaulted as of late, to varying effects, by various pirates. It began with an attak on a Craydonian trade fleet. The only ship guarding the fleet, the Inquisitor mounted a truly noble defense, that surely effected the pirates ability to mount a large campaign.

The Inquisitor was more than an ample match for the 3 pirate ships that assaulted the fleet, flying Onsam colors. After a ship duel for roughly 2 hours, the severly weakened Inquisitor had reached its goal; the trade fleet had gotten away. However, it was time for the crew to focus on their own safety. But the situation was deterioirating quickly, as bows and rocks continued to batter the ship.

Out on the horizon, another ship flying Onsam colors appeared, in what seemed to be the final nail in the coffin for the crew of the Inquisitor. However, the pirate ships turned, and began sailing away. They were harried by this new ship, while it moved closer and closer to the now, slowly sinking Inquisitor. Once they were within distance to each other, the new ship, the North Glory signaled to the Inquisitor, that everything was okay. The North Glory took on the crew of the Inquisitor while it slowly sank.

It turns out, that several false flag attacks occured throughout the north sea, stirring tensions. Despite the damage done, a lull in the attacks have allowed a feeling of safety to return to the sea.

Despite the lull however, a calling for a more active patrol of the area has been called. Many sightings of ships flying unknown colors, of unkown designs have been spotted in the South Sea, but no ships have turned up damaged.
Craydonian and Onsam officials continue to search for the culperts.

The Anris War of 19' (619 PR)
Spoiler :

In a seemingly smart, yet imperialistic move, the nation of Ketmir invaded its smaller North Eastern neighbor, Anris. The plan created by Ketmeric generals was simple, yet incredibly effective. On the coast, the large Ketmeric army moved northwards, creating quite a ruckuss, which pulled the small Anrisian army southwards, to defend the border to the best of its abilities. After some intense clashes, and what could be considered a relatively indescive battle on the coast (do in no part to a mass Anrisian retreat, north to the capital) the Ketmerics marched north, towards the capital, and saw the Anrisians had begun what is now known as a scorched-earth policy.

Meanwhile, to the West, an almost equally large Ketmeric army moved to the East, through Esayan territory (which was not well recieved mind you!) and towards the capital. At this point, the two massive armies set in for a seige, with only the capital, and northern parts of the country still owned by the Anrisan government.

The War at sea, however, was a completely different story. The Anrisian navy dominated this theater. Raids on Ketmeric shipping were felt in force, not to mention the destruction of several key battleships in the Ketmeric sea. However, these successes did little do change the outcome of the war, albeit, it was a fork in the side for the Ketmeric economy however! The relatively outclassed Ketmeric navy, was then pulled back to the ports, leaving the Anris navy to have their way with the Ketmeric merchant marine.

As it is currently, the remnants of the Anris royal family see no chance in victory, and are looking for a peace, that at least secures their freedom. Meanwhile, the almost victorious Ketmeric lays seige to the beleagured capital, seemingly just waiting out the starving defenders.

Invasion of Abdol (618- PR)
Spoiler :

Following its threats, Creul invaded two members of the smaller Abdol states to its West. The operation began, with an invasion of the incredibly small state of Pereb, ignoring most resistance, and simply pushed into the capital with minimal losses. The Pereb military, or rather, what is left of it, moved south, into 'Free territory' to prepare for raids against Creul, to reclaim its territory.

But that much was expected. Pereb always was nothing more than a buffer state really, allowing some of the other, large states, time to react. But sadly, the fall of Pereb only took a week, and considering how slow communication is, their Soage neighbors to the south recieved very little warning as to the armies marching across its borders.

This invasion, was very different than what Pereb experienced. Looting, rape, pillaging, etc. all became norms across the countryside, as the relatively small Soage military attempted to fight off the steam-rolling Creaulian forces. Eventually though, the forces retreated north to the capital region, hoping for support to come. But, in the process they, what many felt, abandoned their own people, to protect a petty king, not boding well for the people now, who are experiencing the true hatred of the Creaulian forces.

Victory seemed almost at hand, but some impressive moves by Soage's neighbor Elhalm pushed some of the Creaulian forces in the south of the country back, while the Soage military held their grip tightly around the capital.

The result of this invasion, was a majority of the Abdol states declaring war. Elhalm, of course, fearing for its own people are attempting to keep the war in Soage, or better yet, in Creul, but the two sides seem to be at a stalemate. Rakil, surprisingly did not turn its head on its neighbors, but at the same time, it didn't really pledge support. It's navy was moved off the coast of Yulida, to fight off any advances the Creaulian navy may make against shipping.

Abdsul, being relatively afraid of its apprarent, now war mongering neighbor, has kept its forces stationed, at the ready, on its borders. No word has been heard yet from Yulida and The Irryn Republic, however.

It seems however, if this division continues, Creul will sweep up the remaining opposition, much as they did to Pereb. Creul, making an 'example' of every man, woman and child, did not help its cause very much, in the eyes of some of its neighbors, Craydonia, even going as far to send a few divisions down to the border, just in case.

It seems for now, the forces are relatively equal, but if Creul manages to pull off a brilliant move, or exploits the apparent failure of the Abdol states to work in a cohesives manner, military victory may be in its grasp. It is indeed a dark time for Abdolians.

We are not amused by your aggression to our neighbors to the south. Frankly, we don't care what you do with them, but if we see any Creaulian armies in our territory, they will be destroyed.

I believe we can. Ketamir will return all the land to Anris. In return, Anris will become a protectorate of Ketamir. With this, with the exception of a ceremonial guard, you leave all defences of the realm to Ketamir. Anris' armies, Navy and Merchant Groups will merge with Ketamir's. You will remain free to spend your economy as you wish. We hope you may find place for our Prince and his new bride a position where they may learn the matters of state.
