GOVERNMENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF IRRYN

As a Republic, Irryn does not have a king. They believe kings are the reason Abdol fell, and don't want to make the same mistake. It's government consists of 100 Senators, voted from all corners of the Republic. 50 Senator seats are voted for every 2 years, effectively meaning one term in 4 years.

To make a law, a senator proposes something. Then, there is an open debate made by everyone. After a few minutes to a few hours (depending on how much debating is done) of debating, the 97 (more on that below) current senators vote on it, if it gets a 51% amount of votes or more, it goes to the next phase.

Everytime there is a new election, 3 consuls are picked from the senators to lead them. There is one of the Armed Forces, one of domestic affairs, and one of external affairs. These are the leaders of the nations. They have equal power but lead a certain part of the nation. When a Law passes the consuls, they must argue amongst themselves in order to pass it. This, unlike the senate, takes days.

If 2 of the 3 consuls approve, the idea becomes law. If 2 of 3 does not agree, the senators can vote again, albeit with the consuls reasoning on why they vetoed. If they get a 76% majority this time, the idea is law. If not, it's dropped.

The current consuls are:

Armed Forces: Julius Augustus
Internal: Nero Caligula
External: Brutus Tiberius

The country has no actual "leader". Generally, the figurehead is the most popular of the consuls, in this case, Julius. Julius is the descendant (Don't know how due to timeline), Octavius Augustus. While never participating in a war himself, Julius shows promise, and the people think He'll be a general to stand the test of time.

(The Irryn language is a hybrid of Early Latin with Italian. Pre-domitly, the names are going to be Latin, and consul is definitely also Latin, but there is a lot of Italian words mixed into it. The language is called Irrish)

A history of Abdol, in short.

pastw.png

Abdol had always been a nation of pride, and power. Serving as what would be considered a counter balance to Craydonian expansion in the West, it soon became the second strongest nation in the known world.

It was founded, as many of the other kingdoms, by a few hunter-gatherers, and collections of villages, in the region that now makes up the Kingdom of Rakil. As many other nations began rising around it, they we're soon captured and assimilated into Abdol, to assure no nation could stand to its might. This kept occurring until the war of the South Sea.

The War of the South Sea, as it is known, arouse when Craydonia, then just about reaching the height of its power, began looking for southern ports, in the warm, blue waters of the South Sea. The Abolians meanwhile had been pushing to the North, and the North-East, when they hit the Empire. The clash more or less defined the regions borders as we know them today. While neither side actually won, as neither gained what they had been fighting for, it had, to this point destroyed Craydonian interest in the region, and greatly weakened the once proud Abdolian military.
Creul, its southern neighbor, saw this as a chance to strike.

Creul, as it was, always considered itself Abdolian, though, they retained their independence, to go their own way. This led to a lot of distrust between the two states, and a bit of racism on behalf of the Abdolians. Creul however, was to weak to really mount a serious offensive against their powerful neighbors, let alone defend from one. Seeing the destroyed Abdolian countryside, and severely weakened forces, the Creuls quickly crossed the border, killing the split up and surprised Abdolian military.
Sensing defeat, the remaining units of the military formed together around what is now the land compromising the states, and General Yulida took command of the battered forces. He somehow staved off several years of both Creul, and on occasion Craydonian results in the area. The war was at a stalemate, until Esaya, offered territory by Cruel, arrived in numbers to the Abdolian west. Meanwhile, the Creulians hammered them from the east. What resulted was a long, and bloody fight to the capital at Rakil, and it seemed that each mile they took, was harder to gain than the last. Finally, the two weary, destroyed armies came to a halt, on the outskirts of the capital.

The Creulians retreated. Too many losses have been sustained. The Abdolians were too weak to commit to a counter-offensive, not to mention they had the Esayans to deal with in the North. A peace, had to be signed.

The Treaty of Rakil, the result of peace negotiations more or or less ceded almost half of Abdol to Creul. It was a massive moral blow to Abdol. A mix of a embarrassment, destruction and finger pointing slowly led to distrust amongst the various regions of the once great nation.

The final blow came when a revolution began in Eastern Abdol. Many people were upset with the unfavorable terms that the treaty of Rakil entailed, and refused to acknowledge it as a valid document. Fearing the start of another war with Creul, the King sent a few thousand soldiers, or a good portion of the remaining army, under the leadership of Axel Harahan.

But, Harahan, upon seeing the rebels, began sympathising with their cause. When a royal detachment of troops were sent to see what was taking him so long, he dismissed them. A civil war had begun.

But, it was several civil wars at once, each region rallying for their independence, not a even split. Seeing how massively out numbered they were, the royal troops retreated back to Rakil, and remain their today. The other nations born out of this have long since reconciled their differences. As calls to reunited become more and more common, a blur is beginning to be seen between being Abdolian, and say, Yulidian.
Their future lies uncertain.

Edited this for grammar mistakes, clarity, and fluidity. Granted, this is a cursory editing so take with a grain of salt.

Thanks. As I said, it was late, and I did it quick haha.

It is best not to rush a NES. The more time, the more quality you put in, the more likely others will.

"This, Ari, is the realm you will one day inherit."

Suih Harahan, the short, aged, foreign Sensei said as he walked over to the table, laying down a large, basic map:

newbanfray.png

On the back of the map are the lines:

Banfray, 487 SBS (Second Banfrey Calendar)

A map of the Ketmir Peninsula and the far outstretched reaches of Western Esaya and Asham.

The exact extent of Asham's territorial claims is currently unkown.

Major geographic features:

Katan Mountains (Banfray, Ketmir)
River Ketmir (Ketmir, major headwaters in Banfray)
South Sea (East of Ketmir)
Sea of Banfray (North and West of Banfray)
Major cities of Banfray

"Banfray, the Aged Kingdom. The date is correct, at least."

Replied his young pupil, Crown Prince Ari Haras Gankionge I. A fit boy, nearing 13 years of age now. Tall for his age, with lengthy dark hair, and dark blue eyes. An unusual trait in this part of the world. The sensei envied him. Standing at his adult height of 5'5, he was a short man, but quite fit. He had been hired by the boy's Father, King Haras Aram Gankionge III, to be his tutor in history, melee combat and the art of strategic warfare.

"Father's Councilmen told me of the recent snubbing by the Ketmirrin Royalty. Do you think they'll march to war?" Ari continued.

Suih scoffed. "Fffah, no. Those Councilmen are fools. Messeges back and forth take more than two months, even by sea. Does your father know you talk to them?"

"Yes."

A lie, but accusing the Royal Family of lying was never a good thing to do. The boy wouldn't get punished, either. Not by this Father. Hah.

"Well, at any rate, we should get back to studying. Recite the dates and locations we went over yesterday."

Ari sighed explosively. "Paliry, 212 SBC. The Second Cartographer's Guild of Paliry is founded at the sight of today's Byssmal Church by the fourth Prince Hadriden of Ketmir. Fourteen years later, 224 SBC, it's burned to the ground as riots break out over food shortages due to the western war. Hadriden, the then Prince-in-Exile is killed by the first wave of rioters. Paliry, 270 SBC. The Third Cartographer's Guild of Paliry is founded at.."

Suih drifted off in thought. The boy knew it well enough. Founded by so and so, destroyed by another war with Ketmir, blah blah blah... Thinking back to his homeland of Belz, he suddenly realized he missed the place. The endless forests of pine or burr trees, protecting him from the dangers of the outside world. From the useless wars these Western Kingdoms waged constantly. This country is held together by the sword, he thought.

"..And finally, in 442 SBC, the Fourth Cartographer's Guild of Paliry was founded by the then citizen-priest Gadol Manninum. HAPPY?"

Ari stared at his master for about a minute or so.

"Sensei?"

Suih looked up.

"Hmm? What? Oh, no. That's wrong. Do it again."

We heard your prince was looking for a princess to marry. We just happen to have one right here! Care to intermarry? We wish to re-affirm this peace between our two nations, and make it permanent.

To Banfray:

As long as you can prove her virginity is in tact, we gladly accept this proposal. Our prince Ashan will be most pleased. Let the peace forever last!

Ha, alright Abaddon. I just need to find some time to fix the banner now (writing up parts of the update currently). If you see anything else you want me to fix.. say so.
