610 - 620 P.R.

Creul
King Tlouiel II "The Bloody"

Not everyone was happy with King Tlouiel II's decision to invade the Abdol States, and among his detractors was his heir and only child. Princess Meyerre-Gesia, then head of the Higher Courts, thought her father was foolish and impatient for invading the petty Abdol States so soon. It was not that she did not want to see the petty states under Creulean rule, but given the volatile nature of the kingdom she wanted to wait.

At the beginning of 610 P.R. the Lower Courts were in an uproar. A man, the son of a petty merchant Meyerre-Gesia had heard, named Giric who was the representative of some small village in the corner of the realm had managed to rally the Lower Men behind him. They demanded more power, specifically the right to attend the King's Council- something that was intended only for the Higher Courts. Princess Meyerre-Gesia had, of course, refused such a demand and almost instantly the Lower Courts boiled over with protests.

The Princess would see to it that Giric was killed, but that was in 613 P.R., three years too late. The thought of seizing more power had instilled a backbone into the Lower Men and in the coming decades they would gain that power.

To Banfry, Iyrrn, Yulida

I presume our open trade is still open.

To Ketamir, the Princedom of Anris, Cryandonia, the Abdolian States, Randpol and the Belz Republic

We wish to open trade with you in the form of open borders.

To Creul.

We saction a trade embargo upon you.

To Esaya and East Esaya

I would like to iniciate open borders and trade with you two nations IF you agree to not fight each other: the one that will iniciate hostilities will be an enemy of the Federation until that one surrenders to peace.

OOC: BFC player, I might make an exception with you if you PM me.

Timeline

602 - The Confederacy fails again in decisivness as every single member votes themselves as president of the council. Reactionary leaders from Port Yuseum, Port Irucum, Port Reconi, and the interior City of Yasdobi gather together to reform the government.

603 - The draft is finished after thirteen months. Open border Trade is iniciated between Banfry, Irryn Republic and Yulida and regular trade is continued between other clients.

604- the Last Port city's Mayor, Baron and Bishop's signature is upon the paper. The Yuseum Federation is formed. Imediatly reforms are iniciated: clemency is extended to the Esayas, armies are called up to defend the interior farms and the best sailers and swashbucklers are given the title of 'Marine' and a stripend.

607- The reactionary leaders step down after three years of Consulship. They hold elections. The five major parties are the...
The Domestic Party, hopes that domestic strength will overcome reliance on Trade.
The Farmer's Guild, works with both the Inter and the intranational blocs, hopes for both subsidies and a market to sell their grapes and olives to.
The Craftsmen's Guild, a party with the Intranational Bloc
The Expansionist Party, they hope that expanding Yuseum's power across the southern sea and beyond that they can secure trade and buffer states arround their core.
The Nationalist, a International Block party, they hope with growing Nationalism that Yuseum can cover up the powervacumn left from wars with ruthles expansion.
The Merchant's Guide, both an intranational and a international bloc, they mostly seek more markets to access.

Election Results for the Senate
International Bloc receives 48% of the Seats
Nationalist-17%
Expanionist-19%
Internationalist Farmers and Miners- 5%
Internationalist Merchants- 7%

The Intralationalists receive 32% of the Seats
Domestic Party- 16%
Intranationalist Farmers and Miners-7%
Craft'smen's guild- 9%

The Nuetrals hold 20%
Farmer's and Miners's Guild- 2%
Merchant's Guild- 12%
Craftsmen's Guild- 6%

The consulship was held by a Expansionist, a Domestic Party and a Nationalist politician.

610 The Domestic Politician's seat is reelected after new policies of the Moneylenders and other public support methods.

Reelection votes: 72%
Domestic Politician: 13%
Craftsmen politician: 15%

It looks like the next decade would be one of expansion and of nationalism of Yuseum as the people liked the appetizer of Internationalist policy, and crave more.

Porthau walked slowly. His caravan to the Irryn Republic had once again been raided by bandits. He sighed again, he didn't have enough money for guards in the first place, but in addition to owing the lost cargo to the Yuseum house of the Glass Maker's guild, he also had to pay the loanshark he borrowed from because of soothsayers warning of a 'Big Storage room of money, whose agents rent out and save money from all.' He sighed again as he realized they where talking of the Loan Sharks, and not the Money Lenders. He walked infront of a Kiosk near the warehouses, and stopped himself from stubbing his boots. He needs money, but didn't have any credit under his name. But he took a deep breath and went into the shop.

It was a small, cosy shop, but when he saw the Certificates that where renewed every six years, and with signatures on them, he felt that he was at least in a Government facility. He then saw the Money Lender, he was a thin man, but with a joyous look upon his face as he handed 16 thousand Yuseaics to a worker. "Sir Jornai, you have made your deposit. Remember to send guards with those caravans: the few unrestive abdolians are starting Bandit hives now, and you would need them."

Porthau walked up. "Hello, I am Porthau, I need to borrow 2500 Yuseaics to pay back a loanshark as well as rent a cart: I lost all of my business."

"There, there," said the moneylender, "Seems like you were in a bad situation: what happened?"

Porthau thought about it, then decided to speak the truth: it was a government official after all! "I inhiereted a small merchant business from an uncle, who owned five inter-city carts and two caravans. Recently I lost one caravan and had to sell the carts in order to borrow from the Loan Shark. Alas I lost the other one in a bloody raid, and I need to fix it all up."

"Ah," said the moneylender, "Well, we can lend you 5 thousand Yuseaics, in the form of a Government Caravan. We will let you run it and as long as you pay the rent, you keep the profits: however, if you wish you can join the army or the Marines."

"Yes, I will take the 5 Grand: why would I join the Army?"

"The Federation is going to fix the Bandits once and for all: it came because of Abdonian's war with Creul, and so we will help end it. However, if you still wanted to lend, we ask for 100 Yuseaics per month, and 1000 Yuseaics at the end of this year: not hard as the simplest shipment of whisky brings over three thousand on a well-placed caravan."

"Thank you!" cried Porthau, "I will consider it!"

"Sign it here, and I will show you your team," said the moneylender, and he sighed: another successful merchant saved from proverty. He certainly loved his job.

Thats a good story!

4 orders in. 48 hour deadline was a few hours ago.

It is, thank you. And this turn is shaping up to be very interesting!

July 10, 626

In the senate, major changes have been done. While the consuls surprisingly stay the same, the senators were largely replaced with much more warlike ones. These ones think that Irryn must join the Abdsol-Creul war now, lest be destroyed.

The declaration of war against Creul was passed 81% to 19%. The consuls were not so enthusiastic by the declaration of war.

Julius epecally was against the declaration. He wanted to unite the petty Abdsol states, and was largely behind the Irryn/Creul conspiracy. Brutus also opposed, thinking that a united Abdsol under Irryn would be much better for our representation. Nero, however, thought that a war with Creul would cause national unity.

Julius changed his mind, once he learned that he'll command the most elite troops in Irryn, the 3rd Cavalry, descendants of the 64Th Cavalry of Absol, which Octavius himself led in his generalship, including the Irryn Independence War.

The Declaration of War went well in the home front. Men enlisted, and women and children did everything they could to support the small republic. Perhaps, the small nation would be on top of the Abdsol states, and their dreams of a re-united Abdsol under Irryn.

Irryn is now at war with Creul

OOC: I suggest creating Hero units. Every nation, if they want, gets one free hero unit, which would be a division/fleet. Each one would have specific bonuses, depending on a short story we submit to you about it.

About your hero units.. that.. would be hard. If you specifically mention them in your orders, I can see if I can mention it in the update. Maybe a UU?

Deioi Baretuer was manning the ballistas. All the ships in the navy had been fitted with the huge, over-compensating crossbows. The king of Randpol had said that it was time to prove the nation's worth to other cultures. He had said that doing something about the pirate problem will not only make sea trading safer, bringing in more money, it will also strengthen relations with other nations on the coast.

So, the navy was mostly tied up going after pirates. It was either that, or all the naval sailors would be stuck in some bar in Tasck or Galadin, causing trouble. Randpol wasn't at war, so it didn't matter much.

The man on the Lookout shouted down, saying that he saw a ship off port. The Signalman then tried sending a semaphore message to the other ship. There was a special reply only a merchant would know. If they gave the incorrect one, the ship would have to investigate.

Of course, the suspects tried to get away. But a Randpol Ship of the line is a lot faster than a converted merchant ship. It quickly caught up. The Signalman told them to raise the white flag, to show that soldiers could go onto the ship unimpeded. When they didn't, the captain ordered to fire them the ballistas. Huge barbed spears imbedded themselves in the other ship, with long, thick rope attached to allow the navy to bring a suspect closer for boarding.

It was a pirate ship. The punishment for piracy, if caught by a Randpol patrol, was to be decided by the captain. As they were only halfway into their tour of duty, and had another five long months ahead of them, the captain had a wicked mood about him.

The punishment for the pirate captain was to choose the crew who would accompany him in the few small landing boats that the pirates still had. The rest of the dark-skinned crew would be thrown over board, left to see what Kinor, goddess of the oceans, had for them.

Hero units is an awful idea given that each turn is currently 10 years. They would be good for, what, 1 turn? No, I think we should just stick with UU's.
