The Land of the Free

OOC: Highways were invented, just not in the sense we understand them.
IC:
2 & 4, just clarification, due to confusion earlier.
1: It does, unless all minor parties join the ELPA
3: (OOC: Food) IC: Farms feed America, and the best way to get new farmers is to encourage - not force - new farms and farmers to appear.
5: What harmful policies? Christos's rant is not supported by the party, and Tambien's policy views (which have not been discussed with his party) provide nothing inherently harmful, though they do deserve further scrutiny by other ELPA members.

Yes, I would like to confirm the fact that his rant was NOT party approved[1] and that he has been disciplined for it. As for my policies, they are designed to benefit a large segment of the population. If you have problems with them please state them and I will try to accomodate you.

~~
(OOC)
[1] and we are now trying to explain to him that imperialism is NOT party approved.

OOC: Depends on your definition of Highways I suppose. :OOC

Harmful policies such as your creation of new farms (which is harmful to current farmers) under the pretence of helping farmers. Ya'know, the one I'd been talking about for the last page! I would have thought that would be obvious.

DT
Clarifying :)

The ELPA also supports population growth and immigration, and, with more people in our nation, America will require more food. With the increased demand for food, the American farmers will not have to fear a loss of customers.

The creation of new farms IS NOT a harmful policy. In this point, the Guild supports ELPA statements.

The Guild thinks that the creation of new farms or the selling of land suitable for farming will be the first step to a great advance in our nation, because in the creation of competence, lower prices will be encouraged through the rise of food production.

That will allow our people to grow, and this growth will have a direct repercussion on more food, gold and production income.

This second instance will have the same benefits the first one had, but it will also provide a faster production and an advance in our technology, thus allowing us to create greater and better armies for our self-defence. this also means we'll be able to build many buildings in every cities that will also boost every kind of output in our cities, bringing us to a point much closer to victory and greater well-being for everybody.

And farmers will have new markets to sell their products with this bigger population, and with this bigger production, people will also buy more food as it's price will be relatively low. In conclusion, farmers will make great profit from new farmlands and farms.

Now to answer some of your questions:
Sparthage: I like this NPC idea, and I'm interested to see how it'll work out. When will we start seeing NPC profiles, when should we start campaigning to them (and other players) and what's the timeline for when sessions will start/end?
1. You should start seeing the NPC profiles pop up during the next couple of sessions (Candidacies and Elections)
2. You should start campaigning for their votes next session after I post the issues for each city.
3. The sessions can last up to two weeks if necessary, but no shorter than three days. The next session should start next Wednesday.
Sparthage, I think that a list of the total resources we have would be also great, so that when trading laws are made, officials don't need to go back to maps counting the resources we do have.
I already was planning to post something like this. I’ll post the info from this session in a few hours or so.
Are we allowed to create coalitions like in RP2?
Yes, however they are not officially recognized when deciding the Majority and Minority leaders. Independent players are automatically ineligible to become Majority or Minority leader.

Quick question: IRL the Speaker of the House is elected by the house is that the case here?

The ALP believes that supporting farmers through government intervention would be beneficial to the economy. We also believe that our party is not too narrow in scope. The ALP is different than the ELPA because we believe that more than logic is needed in our government. The American individual must be allowed to reach his potential and too much government intervention would inhibit this. We are in favor of legislation that makes it easier for one to be more productive like the recent debate on farming.

I move to new york

The ALP believes in the expansion of freedom to all parts of the world. We do not like the compromises to freedom that war creates so we will try in all instances to expand democracy peacefully. However, when freedom is threatened we will not be afraid to act. The expansion of America is a goal, but we do not seek to deprive other nations of the world of their rightful land.

The Guild supports an army only for means of self-defense, although the official line is also to engage enemy nations to liberate long time allies conquered by despotic Empires. If another nation establishes in the lands considered homeland by our nation, the Guild will seriously consider and opt for the option of war.

The Guild is more favorable towards economic actions, such as embargoing an enemy nation through trade of their resources an assets in order to stop their growth in any sense.
The Guild defends a non-violent line, defending expansion through colonisation, but there will be no hesitation to attack in case other nations threatened that expansion with military presence or city settlement in our zone of influence.

We're also in favor of immediately trading all not-strictly necessary resources to other nations, in order to rise our income and assets, thus meaning a better position in both the local and global front, as America will be able to upgrade more units, purchase them (or buildings) and pay any upkeep cost that may carry, as well as having more assets for diplomatic trading.

I think a cabinet is missing here. Sparthage, will the Supreme Court allow laws whose goal is to form a cabinet pass?

OOC: did you start in the medevil era? did you play up to there? where are we on the technological timeline?
On the farms issue (I'll let Tambien do the foreign policy question)
Although there is very little state-owned, farmable land near Boston, the farm-building dispute still concerns our farmers; if land or food prices go up it will affect the Bostonians the same as anyone else. Therefore, I state that farmers are a logical part of society. Food is necessary, for that reason we depend on our farmers. If we have available land, it is logical to have the land sold to immigrants coming into the country or new entrepreneurs that emerge from society. It defies logic to think that we could give it away, of course, but that is the way of the world. Instead, we should be aware of the potential cost increases or decreases that may occur. While we can not force our new farmers to grow certain things, perhaps those things which we import could be planted here? If the current farmers grow wheat, potatoes, and corn, and we import beans or gourds, why not reduce our dependence on foreign food? We must encourage the public to use logic in its decisions.

Jwitti, I started in the classical era and we are currently halfway through the renaissance era. For additional info, go to page 3. I posted a large amount of info there.
