There's not a lot of Asia in Al Falah though.

Just Arabs and possibly Persians.

Unless we're talking about the European definition of Asians.

But they're Asians non the less, even though not exactly the kind of Asian you have in mind. ;)
There's not one kind of Asian nor a European definition of such. Unless you're talking about the perception of there being a discrete Asian race in the mindset of America due to immigration from the region of China/Indochina.
As Professor Leonard Lieberman said, not all Asians can be designated 'Mongoloid'.

Fun thing with breakdowns, you can play with them as you wish...

The point was he was only talking about a Part of Asia (india, middle east all = Asia, China+surroundings=East Asia)

And while the North Sea and the Med are not Europe, all(NSea) or much(mediterranean) of the land around it is Europe
So you could say
N Sea
Mediterranean (Western Europe)
Central+Eastern Europe....not just Europe

Indeed in the expansion they added their only 2 pure European sponsors.

Franco-Iberia wasn't "pure" enough for you, mein fuhrer?

So then what's your definition?

Because at the moment you don't seem to have one.

But I do. All the people that actually live in Asia are Asian.
My criteria are strictly geographical in nature while yours seem to be ethnic, which is still fair. :)

People say that a lot of these combinations are unlikely, and under current political climates it would be unthinkable or even offensive. India-Pakistan? Slavic Federation? Japan and KOREA!?

I'd like to make the case for a Japan-Korea (with Taiwan, Singapore, and the other East Asian independents thrown in) faction. I know this animosity pretty well from my own background. However, its important to remember that even today, Japan and Korea are major trade partners, an idea that itself was unthinkable sixty years ago. Korean media is dominating East Asia, and particularly popular in Japan amongst the children of the very generation that oppressed Korea. Am I saying there is a chance for reconciliation and cooperation today between them? No...

But the Great Mistake is an ecological disaster on an entirely different scale than what we've seen before. Entire countries wiped off the map, multiple wars that rival or exceed WW2 in size and devastation, human migrations that make the Huns look like a walk in the park, and a step back in human progress and industry so to make the Dark Ages jealous. The fact of the matter is, the Great Mistake is such a huge event spread over so long a time that the dev team can justify almost any pairing of former enemies. Or animosities between former allies.
Plus, I think it would be hilarious if they make it so that Korea conquers Japan sometime in the future through the sheer power of K-pop or something. After all, the one time Korea attacked Japan (using Turtle Ships, no less!) they were doing pretty well until acts of God drove them back.

As well, Korea-Japan-Taiwan are technology powerhouses with a long maritime history. They are also very overpopulated. If there was ever a country where it was economically beneficial to start creating artificial islands and floating cities, it would be these countries. They are also strongly corporate, I think the case could be made for a "Asian Reclamation Corporation" quite easily, only they are claiming the ocean itself in the wake of rising sea levels. In my opinion, its just a great fit and a good contrast to the NSA. While the NSA is more blue collar, do-it-yourself independent attitude, the new Korean Turtle Ship Empire is extremely high tech, efficient, and hierarchical. I would even say they should be run by an AI or something, but that might be leaning too far to Supremacy for a sponsor.

So join with me, brothers, to the stars and we will dine on the finest Sashimi distant depths can provide!

I have no problem with that, the problem is consistency.

If there's a Japan-Korea sponsor even though there's already a China-Korea sponsor (PAC), that suggests the two Koreas never reconciled.

Basically we're being asked to believe that South Korea uniting with Japan is far more likely than South Korea reuniting with North Korea.

Remember. North Korea is supposed to be turned into a radioactive wasteland at the onset of the Great Mistake. A tad hard to reconcile with the dead...

First, we talk about a game based in the distant future and invented in that several countries come together in coalitions based on geographical and cultural areas to colonize other worlds. Therefore discuss these political issues of if these countries would join or not is like going around in a chair with wheels, you would only get be dizzy.

Second, there are many people who support a possible Japanese sponsor, but I do not think so because the pan-Asian cooperative represents the geographical and cultural area of East Asia (although I've always assumed that Japan way part of it), Japan is an unique country and not a union of several countries and not accounts for a large geographic area without representation in the game.

I think potential sponsors that remain are:
- Mejico-Caribbean (personally I think it will be this)
- The area of Iran (if not part of Al Fala)
- Turkey and the Balkans (If Turkey is not part of Al Fala and Balkans of Slavic Federation)

I hope for a sponsor composed of Turkey with Iran and Central asia. This sponsor would have more common culture/language than Turkey with balkan. Iran and his region, it is a bit obscure here what you mean with his region. Maybe you should explain it better.

But I expect either a Japanese based sponsor, or maybe they surprise us and a Mexico-Carribean sponsor will be revealed.

Neo-Mongol Spacehorde

That's one idea I like. Central Asia not controlled by PAC or the Slavic Fed. I imagine them as a Mad Max style motor gang with a bonus to the mobility of their Combat Rover units.

Alas, the last civ is aquatic.

Horde of the sea with waterscooters :crazyeye:.

Then where is PAC getting its Koreans?

From what I understand, ever since the Japanese Occupation there has been a sizeable korean population in the Manchuria and northern China area. Maybe those Korean remnants wanted to honor their radioactive homeland on a new world?

I am referring to the area that held the Persian Empire: https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persia

Okay, thats clear. What I am suggesting is somewhat similar geographicalwise with inclusion of central asia.
With central asia I am referring to the following area:
Spoiler :
Map_of_Central_Asia.png

The sponsor would be based on Turko-Persian tradition. For better understanding of the significance of this tradition/culture, the following empires are considered to be Turko-persian:

It deserves to be in the game as a sponsor. But probably won't make it in the game as it wouldn't be considered an aquatic sponsor.

Franco-Iberia wasn't "pure" enough for you, mein fuhrer?

It includes some of Northwest Africa, and as such is not exclusively European, like the Slavic Federation including the Asian parts of Russia.

Remember. North Korea is supposed to be turned into a radioactive wasteland at the onset of the Great Mistake. A tad hard to reconcile with the dead...

The entire area isn't necessarily a radioactive wasteland, and this is multiple decades after the Great Mistake.... Hiroshima and Nagasaki are currently thriving cities, and not "dead zones".

also, who says South Korea is intact... Perhaps China seized Western South Korea, and Eastern South Korea held out with the help of Japan.

Eastern South Korea and Japan were forced to resort to Piracy as order collapsed and trade gradually reconsolidated around Polystralia. Eventually that piracy came to dominate their societies, pirate bases were established in the inhospitable lands of North Korea, as well as the breakaway states of Kamchatka and Vancouver to establish the state of Oceania.

Oceania established themselves as a balancing factor between PAC and Polystralia (each would pay them to attack the other, and not attack them)

After PAC and ARC sent off their seeding ships, the strain on their resources prevented them from resisting Oceanian forces which reclaimed the Korean Peninsula as well as a number of coastal Chinese and American cities. This allowed them to establish their own seeding program, based on higher speed ships, allowing them to catch up.

Oceanian forces get +1 movement to naval and embarked units, as well as 2x value from Artifacts.
