The Law of the Jungle

Two things.

Prinz, I would be honored to join our houses in the future, although I am not certain of the precise time that it would be apprpopriate to do so at.

OOC: Second, I started a new forum game similar to A More Perfect Union. If you liked that one, feel free to come join.

The pre-game signup period is now ended. You may of course continue to sign up at any point. First council session to begin soon.

Some last minute tweaks before we start:

  • Misc spelling corrections
  • Rebalanced attack outcomes (section 10)
  • Clarifications to city production for Tlatoani (section 5)
  • Council session divided into morning and evening. (section 3)

Morning of the First Council of Aztlan
Greetings, Aztecs!
Welcome to the first council of Aztlan, held during the Festival of Hutzilopochtli, God of War.

Each character may perform 1 action during the morning of the council session, due by Sunday 20 November at 22:00 GMT-5..

I'm still working on how I'll be publishing info. This definitely isn't the final form, but what I have at the moment.
Ultimately I will be moving away from screenshots of tables back to closer to something like AMPU because its easier and faster.

Wow, I can't really believe I'm the first citizen, and with so many tenants!

Anyway, I'll research the ancient but still unknown to the Aztec people technology of Mining, so that we can take profit the lands that surround our capital, soiled by our people. I'd like that this is taken as the first step towards the glory that is owned to us by this world, and that in following this path we will show to it the might of Atzlan.

Everybody knows the Monkey, but the Monkey knows no-one.

I was the lone outsider in Tenochtitlan. My story was known to all, they admired me for my Way of the Jungle and skills in foraging food. They asked me to do favors in exchange for upkeep, and so I grew to appreciate the ways of the Aztecs. I realized I was one of them.

Soon I was helping opposing factions equally - unaware of what I was doing. These people schemed at each other, and while plotting against opposing Houses, they hoarded wealth for themselves. Innocent people were being trampled and mistreated, some even lost their lives.

There was an ancient stone pyramid in the center of town. On my spare time I roamed its rocky steps, and started to clean it up. Magnificent stone carvings were revealed in the works of the ancients. I made a breakthrough one day, literally, and found a secret entrance into a dimly lit chamber. Once my eyes had adjusted to the dark, I found an opulent gold and jade wardrobe, fitting a king. This I donned, just to try it on, and it fit me perfectly!

I wanted to show it to someone. My friend Eatzulotl was near by, I knew, and I ran to meet him. But, I had not expected that it was the beginning of the Festival of Hutzilopochtli, and the people had gathered on the square in front of the pyramid.

First, silence fell on the crowd. Then the people started bowing to me, and chanting "Tlatoani! Tlatoani!"

I knew that there was no turning back. I was their ruler, now and for good, and the Pyramid I made my Palace.

May the people of Aztlan be blessed, and prosper to conquer the World that is rightfully ours.

Of course, great Tlatoani of Tenochtitlan.

May the ancient gods of our ancestors be with you, and be blessed by their might

I was but a lonely peasant, with no master to work for but myself. So I toiled for both parts of the day, and in equal parts. I tried to produce food for myself, that I might become fed. And so it came to pass that I saw and picked more bananas, enough to feed my hunger. And I began gathering more, to feed my hunger for a long time to come. And so I climb the treese, and take the fruits of the wilderness just as my ancestors did, content in my way of life. For I am Aztec, and all of the Blessed People are destined to destroy the other lesser peoples who inhabit this Earth.

Matlal rose early to his work. In the morning he worked his small field, gleaning just enough from the land to please his lord and live off of. After his field work was done, he scoured the foresty hill finding little bits and pieces of diamond here and there. Most of this would also go to his lord. When all was said and done he made a meager living. He toiled day in and day out, in the hopes that he could eventually rise up and become a citizen, or more, himself.

Tenoch fumed. He had led the Mexica to this land, founded this city - and now, he, once a great noble of Aztlan, was confined to the role of a peasant!
He supposed he had it better than most - he remained in a very rich part of the altepetl, one with above average food surpluses.
Still, as Tenoch toiled away at the land - both for himself and his landlord - he could not help but think of the day when he would return to power...

OOC:
Maybe I just missed this, but, when a new character is born, do we choose what tile they go to?

I toiled hard and I toiled long, for feeding oneself is not an easy task. So I toiled, and toiled, but I managed to get enough food to last me. And so I was faced with a problem. What to do with this small time that I have? And I decided that I should build a meeting house. A communal town hall, as it were. And so I built a passable structure under the trees I so loved, and I bade all the peasants on my tile come. And so when the first meeting begins, we may discuss ways to toil yet more, and further our own health. And so the invitations were sent, and the Communal Hall was set. And there I waited.

Ahuitzotl challenges Joatzli of the House Tehuantepec for his land.

-

OOC: note: Ipso Facto I am challenging him for land, this means as a consequence I am challenging him for his entire position as citizen, since his landholding is what gives him the position.

ooc: Excellent, excellent, also I presume I get the results of the peasants toil (well toil they do for the landlord) if I am successful considering I would be in such a scenaro the landlord to whom they deliver the fruits of toil at turns end, yes?
