Diplomacy is fine, since it's not too hard to code. Though as for embargoes, I request they be restated in someone's orders EACH TURN (which shouldn't be too hard if you search your posts in the thread) so as to avoid confusion. I'm only human so.
Though any orders pertaining to spending and combat are null and void post-lock. Likewise, NPCs can only use pre-lock information to their advantage. Case in point: any anti-Chinese NPC would need to wait until next turn to hurt China, since it did not exist at turn start.
Empire of Italy:
Italy accepts the non-aggression pact with the Coruscantis. With no particular interest in the North American continent, this pact will hopefully cement our mutual commitment to peace.
Italy is also announcing that, with the consent of Papal States, it has admitted Russia into the Italian Alliance. Stability and peace will hopefully grip Europe, rather than chaos and war.
In a lavish ceremony in Alexandria, his majesty King Amadeus X of Italy has been formally crowned as King of the Egyptians. Shortly later in Bari, he was christened Emperor Amadeus I of the Eastern Mediterranean Empire. The Hungarians had, in anticipation of the move, formally approved him as King of Austria, Hungary, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Transylvania and West Bulgaria, allowing themselves to be ruled in personal union. The states of Genoa and Greenland have also embraced the personal union after plebiscites.
Political analysts suspect the rapid conquest of Egypt was to strengthen Italy's bid for the Suez canal once the territory becomes inhabitable. As money pours into Egypt, schools are being refurbished to include a wider range of programs, but most importantly, the Italian language has been mandated as part of the curriculum alongside the native Anport. With the decline of the Angolan empire, Anport has been starting to fall out of use, though this state infusion of resources is sure to exacerbate the decline.
A large Italian garrison has been stationed in the region to put down the likely uprisings. Approximately 150,000 troops are expected to be lost over the course of 10 years. The government views the huge industrial and population boost from the territory as a decent trade off, however. Never mind, rebels make for excellent hands-on training.
Russian Empire:
Russia has directed the Patriarch of Moscow, to begin talks with the Papacy to reunite the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. It is not expected any such union will be easy to enact, due to the democratic nature of orthodoxy and conflicting views. But if the Churches were one at one time, why can they not be one again?
Russia is also proud to announce that President Dimitri Litvitov(serving since 2163) has, riding a tide of popularity after his victory over Poland, invigoration of national pride, and his measures to combat corruption, been coronated as Dmitry II of Russia.
The Patriarch, meanwhile, has begun to personally visit the Catholic Churches of once-Polish Russia. Russia being a majority Catholic nation, the local Churches are being re-purposed for Orthodox use; the government seems to more or less be overseeing and subsidising religious segregation, with Catholics in the East and Orthodoxists in the West. Ethnic tensions, once a plague in Eastern Europe, have become nil with the end of the Polish nation and the assimilation of the Belarussians into the Russian nationality.
Boers:
"And when this government asked for fair reparations for the deaths of so many innocents, the Boers refused!"
This is a blatantly incorrect statement. The Republic offered compensation for the losses to the same tune Poland offered its victims. If Poland can be so readily forgiven, why can't the Boers?
We seize what is rightfully Boer land, we are demons. Poland kills one-seventh of the world, and they get away scot-free just because they happen to change government. What is this?
The loss of the Kongolese soldiers present was unfortunate, though they signed up for this when they decided to serve the Union of Nations.
As for being undemocratic, we remind you that the citizens of the UN territories - approx. 3.5% of the world population - are not counted for Assembly seats. They are denied representation in world affairs. Sure they may control their local governments, but they have ZERO say in whether the UN raises taxes on them, whether it closes the canals and straits and thus ruins the livelihoods of those present, or whether any law binding on them is passed. It is unjust for a state to collect taxes and impose obligations on the citizenry when they don't even have a chance to prevent such.
But no matter. We will settle this on the battlefield, and wonder how red the Kongo will have to turn before the government sees reason and accepts peace.
Order of Iblis:
In response to the mass carnage and discord these last two years have revealed, the Iblis has released the following statement:
The Demon Lord has, on a more serious note, taken the title of Demon Overlord, raising the previously most-senior individuals beneath him to the title of Demon Lord. With the Order's growing influence on the world stage, Lord Iblis has felt the time has come for a more grand title, one never taken before. Previous high-ranking demons such as the Prelates Enerjak and Venice have been elevated to the Demon Lord title, due to their status as members of his inner circle.
The Demon Realm has, furthermore, begun to offer its services to the wider world. Cash can be sent to the DR, of which 5% will be collected and the scientific bonus applied to the rest. So, to recap, if 1000 gold is sent to the DR, it will keep 50 of it, and the contributing state will get 1045 in research.
Acknowledging the presence of other scientific states, the Iblis has made note that he will continue to slash prices as easily as his claws slash a person's flesh so as to remain competitive.
Yucatan Republic:
The chaos in the 501st is worrying. While we see it as a struggle of socialism versus capitalism, we intend to remain neutral in this conflict. We advise our Comintern allies to do the same. Let capitalism do itself in, as prophesised by those such as Marx.
Finland:
Finland condemns the imperialist actions of Italy, Russia, China, Iblis, and the Boers. As of now, all these states are hereby embargoed and denied access to the ports of Finland and Dubai.
Finland has, furthermore, formed a democratic, non-interventionist, libertarian socialist alliance, the Socialist Alliance, as an alternative to the Comintern.
To stimulate investment, the state has also begun cutting unnecessary regulations on personal behavior. Things such as gambling, drug production, transportation, sale and use, and prostitution have all been legalised or decriminalised across the board. In the latter case, this pends studies to determine further action. (Finland goes from Social Liberal to Social libertarian)
