McDonald sat heavily down in his chair. He had spent the day argueing the Naval budget in Parliment, suprised to find that the NANP could somehow think it too small. However he was aware of the importance McScotsman had placed on the 2 year overviews, and so ensured he had a large mug of coffee before looking them over.

The reports on the economy were mixed. The merger had left the PUB trying to integrate two seperate economies, and a reccession hitting at just that time had made a nightmare for the industrial sector, cutting it from the 1st to the 3rd largest in the world. Despite this however, growth in the overall biannual cycle had remained strong, and the PUB had an unmatched GDP, with overall income standing at an estimated 5.47% of the worlds total. The population after the merger was estimated at 2.89% of the global population.

Internationally the news seemed to be bad all around. Despite the NAP he had overseen in the final days of Scotireland, McDonald could see the situation was getting tenser by the day, with several of the reports reccomending an increase to near-wartime levels of alertness. The UN saw constant debate over the Indian debacle, and all indications were that the CRF was planning something big. The Comintern seemed near-universally despised, and a number of the reports indicated concern that they would soon act against Xinjiang and Iblis.

BMI reports indicated that their security net remained unbreached, for which McDonald was thankful. They also informed him that the recent sweep of the country for terrorism had come up negative, and it seemed that the nation was in a good position to keep things that way.

McDonald read over the summaries several times, and stared glumly at the list of major powers. The economic lead was diminishing, Political situations worsening, and good news was rare. He sighed, and stood up. Maybe sleep would help him see where to go next.

Well someone's certainly working for his RP bonus.

Catalonia is due to be cliented already, so it is unvailable.

@Tanny, I have two questions about the trade income:

1) Did Kongo and Chili really suffer worse from their embargoes than we did?
2) Why is the trade income of Kongo and Chili different from the trade income of Somalia?

The Comintern market was larger than the embargoer's, ergo the embargoers lost more from it.

Somalia is Commercial so reaps 20% more from trade than other nations.

Objibwe Empire should be my client, saw that they're listed as independent. I know I bought them.

You were overbudget so I cut the most expensive item.

Well, I have no choice but to agree with the underlined part..

I'm considering rejoining...

What NPCs that I could take over currently exist?

Finland - Socialist, Warsaw Pact-aligned, started by you :p

Java - Welfare state, currently Secretary, Comintern-aligned; least fleshed out personality.

Italy - Capitalist dictatorship, rising power. WP aligned.

Demon Realm - Insane dictatorship, basically the game's North Korea. Neutral.

he didn't have a Baby's chance in Iblis of finding out

The Demon Lord has released the following statement:

I wouldn't be to pleased if RC was to take Java... Not pleased at all. I prefer RC to take control of a different nation and align himself with that nation with Comintern

I hope that Finland will continue to provide diplomatic support to the Indian cause. ;)

Irish looked out over the vast shipyards. In Plymouth alone nearly 30 warships were under construction. It was the largest naval construction scheme Britian had undertaken for centuries. And still he worried. 200 ships might be a lot, but to the great Naval powers of the world it was hardly an intimidating force. Oz alone had 700 ships, enough to destroy even this new fleet with relative ease.

Irish sighed. It had been easier before, when a simple atomic program was all that was needed to ensure security. It wasn't cheap by a long shot, but it was far more cost effective than the vast fleet of ships the PUB was building now. Missiles didn't need to be paid, or fed, or given benefits packages. You didn't have to deploy them ahead of time either.

But there was nothing for it, a conventional defence force was the only option. Partitionanian style missiles were too expensive for even the PUB to build in vast numbers, and chemical weapons, whilst cheap, were hardly powerful enough to win a war alone. That left only men, and Irish had strongly supported a fleet, rather than an army which would have to await the enemy's arrival on home shores. At least this way, attackers might be stopped before doing irreparable damage.
