The NES Wiki - Get Wiki With It

Retroactive deletion.

I've played Persian nations (Medes, Persia, Parhae...) at least 4 times, and the Turks three times (twice as Ottomans). Other than that, no real patterns. I've never played an Indian or Chinese nation, I'll have to change that someday.

Is there any particular reason why the NES Wiki is down? Is this a problem with all wikisite Wikis?

Now it's back. Apparently it was a problem with my Internet, which was wantonly destroyed by The Sims 2 "Deluxe".

Do you think that it would be a good idea to put current avatars onto those little infoboxes? How can I import images to make it so?

Ooh, fun. Something else to read other than the userbox pages. :p

I note that information on the First Generation is rather sketchy and incomplete. Going to dredge into my memory for some of that stuff and get back to you on it.

Though this probably isn't the place for this discussion, the Wiki could definitely be used to encourage inter-forum NESing cooperation.

The Strategic Command Center sub-forum looks a tad sparse though, and could definitely use some assistance from us. (The parent forum?) I'm not sure on what Apolyton's community status is, though I remember foolish_icarus attempting some crossover stuff, since he's active on both forums.

Deviating further from the wiki conversation, it might be a good idea to sponsor some type of 3-way cooperative NES, either sponsored here or on a 4th party site. (Edit: Perhaps we could reformat that archive site someone made during the April Fools' Day joke for that purpose?)

To bring this conversation back on topic, we should at least make the other forums aware of the wiki project. I'd nominate Sym as our ambassador, since he seems to enjoy being delegated tasks. :p

Hey, there's no need to go on a rant! I was being sarcastic anyways, just look at the (:p).

But it's true though that Symph has done the majority of work on the Wiki. We've all been a little lazy, though I'm a complete idiot at categorization and even using simple code. I did volunteer to be a Minor Editor, and just need some orders to do whatever needs doing.

(Edit: To clarify, specifics, of what pages need to be fixed/expanded.)

Since I proposed the idea, I'm happy to go speak with the other NES forums as well.

Ok, I'm now posting I just posted an introduction of sorts on Apolyton, and I'll speak with Strategic Command Center tomorrow.

I think the Engineering and Editor Teams need to be...uh, jumpstarted, and though I'm finishing up my update in the next few days, I just need directions (via PM) from you, Symph, to start writing up walls o' text. I also think those that signed up to a team should be reminded by PM of their commitment as well.

We can/should set up a time to discuss article and categorization changes on the NESing chat channel, since things get done faster in realtime. And we have a free resource to use. Maybe this Friday, if everyone's free.

Hello. :)

I'm an Apolyton NESer, and I took a look over here because of Thlayli's thread. In response to a few things, such as:

I already tried involving Apolyton, when nobody else did, and nobody lifted a single finger to help.

I'm not sure on what Apolyton's community status is

Apolyton's NES community is not quite dead, but unfortunately it is in no position to be very involved in your projects, wiki or otherwise. There have been a grand total of two NESes active recently; one hasn't gotten any posts for a week or so, which makes it look like mine is the only one active. By active, I mean it gets updated around once a month (at the very best of times). I have been able to retain around 3-4 players for more than a year, but can't really ever increase past that because there are really only that many people active in the Stories/Diplomacy forum during any one period of time.

It seems to me that you are seriously overestimating the "community" that exists at present. There's me (Cyclotron), Micha, Nimitz, appleciders, Foolish Icarus, and bipolarbear, but at virtually no time are all these people present and posting together.

I'll check out the community you have here; I've avoided CFC for a long time just because I had no interest in monitoring two Civ sites at once, but I might join in. I'd invite you to Apolyton to help us out, but at present there's really not much of interest there; I've got a space or two open in HRE NES, but we're running a bit slow right now.

It's good to have you. Hopefully we'll have some CFC NESers popping over to Apolyton to join your NES, cyclotron. From what I've seen it looks fun.

In time we can definitely get Poly's NESing community more active, at least by letting new members here know that you're around.
