Seriously, have you seen some of the porn out there? Bukakke, gangbangs, that kind of stuff? We're much better at degrading our own women than animals could ever be.

This act of Netherlands parliament is just perverted. Look in what we turned those poor creatures:
a)animals for food-are they really still animals or just another means of mass production?
b) zoo animals-are they really meant for something different than say Disneyland Castle or roller coasters or other sightseeing stuff?
c) pets-we basically took their animality away with breading and other genetic and non genetic manipulation a long time ago.
In the old days, people either had to hunt for meat, and they developed respect for the animals via that way, or they bread them at home, and developed respect that way. Either way, people had much more respect and connection to animals.
Nowadays, you can only watch animals on TV/zoo from the distance and you buy pre-packed meat having no empirical connection to animals in groceries.
So zoophilia was the only thing for Western civilization to stay in touch with animals. I know this is taboo, but it shouldn't be. When more and more research shows us that zoophilia isn't something that we shouldn't even hear about it, right wing conservative parliaments are passing laws forbidding it.
That's just plain stupid, if you ask me!

Please tell me you are joking! I had a long laugh before I realised that you might actually mean it.
There are some nations in the world (as well as professions such as shepherds) that have developped zoophilic tendancies through centuries. European nations in general have no historic zoophilic traits. Encouraging it not to loose contact with nature is like promoting incest for higher birthrate.
Buy a cat instead, visit a farm.... get to your folks that still live in the coutnryside and help them with running their home. Respect would come from simply trying to understand the nature if you have that will. No stupid bans will ever bring about respect, such as their absesnce.
Hey how about a bunch of donkies for high school kids? Fully grown horses for office employees? And one big elephant female for the mayor?

Seriously, though, I don't see why bestiality/animal porn is a problem. For god's sakes, its the Netherlands. They have legalized human euthanasia! Why shouldn't people have the right to be pleasured by an animal?
Humans are animals, but we don't hear each other complaining unless its rape! If Person A wants to have intercourse with a dog, and the dog shakes his hand, doesn't it deserve a treat?!
