That may be helped by the fact that there are no Saudi Arabias, Chinas or Costa Ricas here...

Latvia...ok, they might beat Saudi Arabia, but only just...

The point is still valid as to squeeze all the teams into 4 groups would probably mean that Saudi Arabia would no longer qualify...

I agree with that. 32 teams in the WC was a big mistake for the quality of it.

Excellent!

Revenge on the Czechs!
A classic Deutschland Holland!

En Letland to finish!

Orange is always troublesome when playing countries like Sweden, Bulgary or Switzerland, so I feel quite happy with it!

I don’t think we can complain about the draw. I think we stand a fair chance of getting through to the second round behind France. We’ll allow France to beat us in the first game ;) . This will lull them into a false sense of security and we will then beat them in the semi-final (or final) wherever it is we meet them again. :)

PS I do not think France will be the same as they were in Korea – Once bitten, twice shy, as we English say.

I wouldnt discount any team that can put out Turkey over two legs. That was a rather greater achievemnet than say Hollands progress to the final.

Every team there is capable of winning a game.

YESSSSSSSZSZSZSZS

The easiest group!!!

Well, in WC02 we had an apparently "easy" group but it revealed to be not so easy, so I'm careful.

I'm happy we didn't meet France, Portugal or Croatia.

And I was thinking.....it could have been so cool....a group with Germany, Netherlands, Czech Republic and TURKEY

Nah, wouldn't have been possible. If the Turks would have qualified they would have gotten into the second seedings group, pushing Germany to the third.

Group C is easy compared to the others. And I'm already looking forward to Germany-Holland. I'm even more looking forward to ctrl+v ctrl+p this in my sig (and convincing TF to re-enable font size 5, bold in signatures (a.k.a. HUGE CAPPED FONTS ;) ):

I suppose there are people here who would hardly agree with you on this one. :D

Interesting statistics. Analysis of the results of official matches between the four teams in group A played in all the World and European Championships shows that Spain shall take the first place in this group followed by Russia. Portugal and Greece, according to that forecast, won't qualify for quarterfinals.

France? We get France? Why does the footballing God hate England so much? At last the tabloids will have a field day with it. I'm taking betting on how many times they will mention Agincourt.

Germany and Holland can have a very nice match that ends as a very nice draw.

Nothing against Germany or Holland, but one of you will have to leave the tournament after the group stage. What a pity. :-))))

:hmm:
Portugal only played once withe USSR (in the WC 66) and won and once with Spain (in the Euro 84) and it was a draw. How the hell are they getting to that?

 We will both beat the Krauts and the Kafkas. By underestimating Letland, both Germany and Czechia will draw Letland. Then, in the last match we will loose to Letland on purpose.

The statistics I've mentioned is as follows:
Portugal-Russia +2=0-1 3-6
Portugal-Spain +0=2-3 5-19
Portugal-Greece +1=1-2 7-9
Greece-Spain +1=0-3 4-8
Greece-Russia +3=1-8 7-22
Spain-Russia +1=1-1 3-3

In terms of the percentage of the points won Spain should take the first prize. Then goes Russia followed by Portugal and Greece. ;)

I think they don't only consider the games played in WC and EC but also those which took place between the teams at qualifying stages.
