The Official CFC LEAVING Topic

I'm not thrilled with this topic, but I will leave it, so that people who want to leave can say so.

Any other "Goodbye" threads will be a memory as soon as I see them. The off topic is for talk, not this hello-goodbye nonsense.

Say your piece here, but nowhere else, please.

I understand why some of you are leaving and I don't blame you. The popups will not stay forever and I hope you guys will return when they are gone. This little crisis won't kill CFC, I promise.

[EDIT & NOTE: I composed this (below) before A of A and TF offered their contributions (above). To AoA: you were one of those I had in mind when I mentioned how some "dislike the multiple and persistent 'I'm leaving' topics". And you weren't even a mod then (not that I knew of). Consider this a public service to you!]

Hey, guys! Can we get this back on topic please? I appreciate all the opinions on the pop-ups, but I think there's already another forum/topic to discuss that. I think it's fine to say if you're leaving because of them, but can we please leave it at that and have the ensuing exchanges elsewhere? Just a request.

Brad, how could we forget the person who started the now infamous "Kissing" (i.e., Before Marriage) thread? And who brought our tribe knowledge (tech?) of Jehovah's Witnesses? For those who were there for that, I'm sure you'll not be forgotten. Take care of yourself!

GK: Thanks for trying to focus us on the topic. To clarify my intention: this is for folks to share what they want about their leaving, if they want us to know, and whenever they feel it's appropriate. As we can see, people are going to do it anyway, so this just offers an appropriate place. If one is not interested, one doesn't need to read it when it bubbles up. (I notice you have been attentive here, GK. No interest? Hmm? )

For example, if I miss a few days, I probably won't say anything ... but if I'm involved in several discussions where a response from me is kind of expected, then I might say something (so folks don't think I'm just abandoning the discussion). I'll also probably mention when I know I'll be gone for a week so people don't think I've disappeared again. And how much time goes by before you realize someone's just completely dropped off?

Obviously, no one has to let us know, but I personally appreciate it when others do, so I'm "doing unto others". Another example: I noticed that Leowind wasn't posting much lately. I was wondering if he was unavailable or just lurking because he wasn't interested in responding to the latest topics. I look on the the "Returning" topic. Now I know (because he chose to tell us in the Returning thread without creating a whole other topic).

Johan: Getting a new name? Who will you be now?

Kitten: Have fun at surf--- I mean WORK!

I think after we get over this pop-up conversation, this topic will become a useful tool. But that's up to us. Thanks for your interest.

I won't spent much time on internet from the 10th July to Beginning September.
My father found a job in Sint-Marteen (Caribbean island) n must do 45 days in Bordeaux(southern france) to know the clients
he'll have there etc.
My parents will sleep in an hotel n i'll live with my grandparents in Le Havre(my natal town in Normandy).
My grandparents have 40H internet/month(the kinda stuff u find in supermarkets).
I'll have a respectable internet connection in September(In Sint-Marteen).

FYI - Thunderfall just tapped me to say this thread really is official now. The quotes that used to surround "official" in the topic header have been removed.

Glad to have provided something useful to our community.

In case I don't get to say it tomorrow. I will mis all of you guys here. I just can't stay here if I am punished for doing something that Thunderfall himself said is ok in moderation and even fairly recently if I recall correctly.

I brought up the poast threads to make a valid point. I hope that no action is taken and that AoA can learn his lesson and become a better mod. I really don't want to see him stripped of his moderator privilages at this point.

Well, in case this is my last post, I hope you guys have a nice life!

So...what exactly was your big protest (bringing up all those old, spam-laden threads) for? Postcount announcements used to be big around here-too big. They really aren't worth the memory required.

Anyway, too bad. Hope to see you around again.

Well BP, if you've got to go I understand & wish you well...But I think that you should stick around & fight the good fight. I'm not of the impression that you're one to run from a scrape. And hopefully this recent rash of egomaniacal behavior (or hard-on if you will) will pass/be dealt with by the governing authority.

P.S. This is my 500th post, Heir Hess!!!

Gjts&BP-You guys really need to stop. You know the rulez and need to abide by them. You break the rules you'll be repremanded. The topics that i've seen that you brought up with valid points to the topic, well i don't see how what you posted in the topics you brough up had anything to do with the post.
So can you all please PLEASE quit crying about it when you get jumped on by one of us mods and quit saying that your threatening to leave. If your gonna leave, leave. We don't really need to hear if your leaving or not.

Border, I thought it's well known that postcount threads are no longer welcomed in the forum. That's why you haven't seen any new ones in the a long time... The decision against postcount threads was made probably 2 or 3 months ago.

There are a lot more of thees I can bring up as an example if you want.

What I said about postcount was that people could annouce their postcount milestone when they reach a new level (new rank) in the official postcount annoucemtn thread or they could briefly mention that in a reply to other topics, but no new topics about postcounts.

Anyway, you shouldn't have ignored warning from a moderator and brought 5 old postcount threads back to life. What u should have done is post a thread about postcount policy in the site feedback forum.

It isn't nice of you to call Border Patrol a hard on, gjts00. Consider this a warning, I will not tolerate you insulting another poster in this fashion. If you can't control yourself, don't post.

Please, no more of these annoucments to your Nazi masters, gjts00.
This has nothing to do with Civfanatics, or it's staff. It is a personal observation, as I find your facist tendencies quite distastful.

You can annouce, in any thread, when you reach a significant milestone, but that is the only place.

However, YOU CANNOT START SUCH A TOPIC.

Thanks for your time, guys.

What exactly do I need to "stop" Tzu??? I merely stated my opinion...Something that you seem to have to have a problem with me doing lately for some reason. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I posted a reply in a thread that was within the parameters of said thread & I fail to see the wrong doing in that. And before you start with your freedom of speech doesn't...blah, blah, blah...Let me say it for you. If you don't agree with my opinion FINE!!! But, that doesn't give you the right to degrade it though. IMO you're the one that needs to "stop".

G*d d*mn man, get off my back!!!

I don't think there's a need for a post count thread. Its a spammers haven.

I wasn't talking about Border Patrol AoA.

because you are also on AoA's case and it needs to stop, you don't question a mods authority. I'm on your back because your ni the crappy posting mood lately.

Hey Tzu...Can you show me where I challenged a mod's authority please? I may have expressed a contrary opinion, but I don't ever recall challenging a mod's authority. And BTW, if by posting an unpopular opinion/one that you don't like is crappy, I disagree. Besides, (according to your definition) you've made quite a lot of "crappy mooded" posts. What's that old saying about people who live in glass houses???

*Edit: I think that a mod should know that personal debates should be handled through PMs, not the forums. Hence any further communication on this matter from me will take that route.

Well, I don't know which topic to put this under... as I am neither coming back, or leaving, I hope... I will find out within the next 2 days
I look forward to staying a part of this wonderful community in which the interchange of opinions can happen vertually flawlessly.

BTW: this is my 200th post... I hope I'm not peanalized for this, as it wasn't the whole point of my posting... Please don't hurt me ThunderFall.
