[EDIT & NOTE: I composed this (below) before A of A and TF offered their contributions (above). To AoA: you were one of those I had in mind when I mentioned how some "dislike the multiple and persistent 'I'm leaving' topics". And you weren't even a mod then (not that I knew of). Consider this a public service to you!]
Hey, guys! Can we get this back on topic please? I appreciate all the opinions on the pop-ups, but I think there's already another forum/topic to discuss that. I think it's fine to say if you're leaving because of them, but can we please leave it at that and have the ensuing exchanges elsewhere? Just a request.

Brad, how could we forget the person who started the now infamous "Kissing" (i.e., Before Marriage) thread? And who brought our tribe knowledge (tech?) of Jehovah's Witnesses? For those who were there for that, I'm sure you'll not be forgotten. Take care of yourself!
GK: Thanks for trying to focus us on the topic. To clarify my intention: this is for folks to share what they want about their leaving, if they want us to know, and whenever they feel it's appropriate. As we can see, people are going to do it anyway, so this just offers an appropriate place. If one is not interested, one doesn't need to read it when it bubbles up. (I notice you have been attentive here, GK. No interest? Hmm? )
For example, if I miss a few days, I probably won't say anything ... but if I'm involved in several discussions where a response from me is kind of expected, then I might say something (so folks don't think I'm just abandoning the discussion). I'll also probably mention when I
know I'll be gone for a week so people don't think I've disappeared again. And how much time goes by before you realize someone's just completely dropped off?
Obviously, no one has to let us know, but I personally appreciate it when others do, so I'm "doing unto others". Another example: I noticed that Leowind wasn't posting much lately. I was wondering if he was unavailable or just lurking because he wasn't interested in responding to the latest topics. I look on the the "Returning" topic. Now I know (because he chose to tell us in the Returning thread without creating a whole other topic).
Johan: Getting a new name? Who will you be now?
Kitten: Have fun at surf--- I mean WORK!
I think after we get over this pop-up conversation, this topic will become a useful tool. But that's up to us. Thanks for your interest.
