The Official Unit Select/Order Sounds Lab!

You allready had a good idea: Mix it up if possible. So it wouldn't sound exactly like a hawaiian civ. Or use samoan, because there is allready a hawaiian civ.

But perhaps you should ask a different question: What would be the easiest language to get somewhere?

I think Hawaiian would be the easiest. And if you know any Kiwis, who knows, they might speak Maori.

I got a guy who offered to do Samoan sounds, but I've heard nothing from him.

I don't even know if he's around anymore! I'll go check anyways.

Yeah hey mate,

Concerning the Polynesian sounds - I'm fluent in Samoan, which is spoken by around 300,000 people. The language of Hawaiian and Samoan are sort of similar, but I could record a Samoan sound pack for you, I can speak both known Dialects, as well as the "Samoan - Puritin" language, which is the language exclusively spoken by the Matais' (Chiefs).

I wouldn't ask him to do the chief's languages, though. You'd have workers saying the text and that wouldn't be right.

Does anyone have the full and official list of what is said in the order select sounds? I know a few of them offhand but I don't know the whole thing and what goes to which number. I am going to PM him and also try and contact him through different means. BTW if anyone else out there knows any Polynesian Language or Languages that would be extremely helpful. :goodjob:

It's at the beggining, I believe.

In my Polynesia I decided for some reason to use the language of the Indians. But, you know, if you won't get any help you can always give them English as many Polynesian Islands use English today (of course there's also French Polynesia).

I copied and pasted my Polynesia from Civ Gold and just added new UU and UB. I didn't pay attention to what music they have, I don't think they have any.

They use the Indians for the Polynesians and the Inca for the Maori. I might have to use one of those as a place-holder until I get/come up with something better.

Use Inca's.

Atleast most people who play your mod won't recognize it straight away.

Plus it is Hindu not Indian. ;)

Achilles is correct, it is certainly Hindi, but I wasn't attempting to use the proper name of the language. I just said they used the Indians for Polynesia and the Inca for Maori. I never gave the proper names for the languages which is clearly not "Indians" or "Inca." :goodjob:

I remember I have saved up a number of select sound/order files for a good number of the civs in my WoL mod. Unfortunately, all of these were downloaded from the few internet audio resources I could find, so not only would these not necessarily be a 100% translation of the original Firaxis order/select sounds, but sometimes I would even be unable to find an adequate amount of these files. However, I don't think most people really care if it's actually a direct translation, so I'll be happy to share them... If anyone needs them. I have the files for:

- Indonesia (Indonesian)
- Italy (Modern Italian)
- Polynesian (Hawaiian - though I know a place where I could get a few Maori soundfiles, that could work too)
- Swahili (Swahili)
- Thailand (Thai)
- Turkmenistan (Uzbek)
- Vietnamese (Vietnamese)

I could also myself do the Vietnamese select/order sounds with my Americanized accent... If I had proper recording equipment.

Dude, post those ASAP... for real!

And if you think you could do Vietnamese sounds better do them! I really need Polynesian (at this point I'll take anything), Vietnamese, and Iroquois sounds.

EDIT: And as I have Italy, Congo, and Siam as modules I could take the Italian, Swahili and Thai sounds too.
