What is the guideline regarding nation titles? Many nations in the stats aren't given a full title, "Republic of the Netherlands" versus "Kiev"/etc. Do nations without a "Empire/Kingdom/Republic" in their name adhere to their OTL monikers/is it up to the players?
Regarding nation titles, I arranged them in a manner to make it easier to be located on a nation list. I only added Republic/Empire when it was an integral part of the nation name. Players are free to call themselves the Magical Imperial Kingdom [country name] of Love, Peace, and Bagelism in diplomacy for all I care. They just should probably keep in mind that their diplomacy won't be taken seriously if they do.
I'm not sure Muhammad Ali should be running Egypt. He was an Albanian Muslim that seized power after being sent to reoccupy the country following Napoleon's invasion, not a member of the Mamluk Order..
There you go then, he's a time traveller. Allow me to quote the relevant passage from the ruleset:
Lastly, the world we start with is based off of interesting possibilities, not definite realities. The existence of some of these nations or their rulers are clearly improbable at best. I don't care too much about how we got here, only where we are going. If you wish to fill in the blanks left in the history, I welcome you to do so. I encourage any and all story writing for the sake of the NES. In the meantime, I will not be dragged into any debate about starting historical plausibility in regards to the map or stats. This is how it is, and what I find more important is what it could be.
