the "once and for all!" topic

What kind...

Pretty much posts like yours. Use search for closed threads about him. This will be only post about this subject from me as i don't want to pollute this thread :deadhorse:. I actually thought a while if i should reply at all.

Plea for everyone else; don't go there in this thread, use search if you want to see how many times it has been done.

#27 If your city is not growing, but does not have health/happiness issues and still has food to grow you've probably checked "avoid growth" button on the bottom of city screen.

(Inspired by a recent topic where it took surprisingly long for this to come up. I guess most people use it so rarely.)

^^Been there....

#28 5 units of any kind is not a suficient army to take a civ down unless you're doing a really early rush ( again inspired in recent threads )... and preats do not eat entrenched maces ;)

#29 Cavalry is not a good unit to defend a recently conquered city... if you have cavalry, you have rifles... why not use them :hammer2: ? ( again inspired in a "biased luck thread" )

#30 Unidimensional stacks will be eaten alive by their counter and BtS AI is smart enough to do that ;)

#31 To allow flying camera, search My Documents\My Games\(name of version) and open CivilizationIV.ini with notepad and change AllowFlying = 0 to AllowFlying = 1 then in game press Ctrl+Alt+F to enable/disable it. ( i've read this a zilion times and there are still people asking... )

#32: Praets are really, really, really good and easy to use. To get the most out of them go BW, Road, IW then worker techs. Trust me, it works. (I've seen a surprising amount of threads complaining about Praets or questioning their use. They are amazing, people. Srsly.)

#34 Civ 4 IS better than Civ 3. Fact proven by science community.

#36: If you don't like something that is a game feature, you got two choice
A) Live with it, complaining does not make the feature go away. :p Global Warming does not melt ice cap no matter how much you complain about it. ;)
B) Mod it to the way you like. Modding can and DOES enable you to change any feature that you don't like. ;) And with modding not only does Global Warming melt ice cap it can even raise sea level. :D

#38. The tactics of the space race- Build ship. Beat AI at race.

#39. Who cares if an extra engine only takes away two more turns. If they're both built at the same time along with the AI's ship and they haven't got a second engine once launched, you win by 2 turns!

#8 is the only one that makes sense here. until people learn how to search and read the forum the same old questions will get asked over and over and over.

#40: The search function on any forum, has never been, is not, and never will be used by a VAST majority of people.

#41: The search function should stop being implemented on the forums and should be cataloged as a failed internet experiment.

#42: When people on this forum tell you how wonderful and good CivIV is and how it is the best game around, don't trust them even if half of the population of the forum say so! Never trust what a fanatic (or a thousand fanatics for that matter) says! ;) However, would strongly suggest you to go out and buy a copy now and find out for yourself. :D

I gotta disagree, I use the search function quite often. It's all a matter of using the right search words and as few as possible. The problem is when people use "HELP" or some other non descriptive title for their thread, which will never show up in a search, unless you search for "help" ;)
I do agree that it can get a little irritating to see the same question asked twice on the same day, even the same page, but the forum is supposed to be for helping people out and when someone gets snotty and tells someone to use the search function, that isn't helping. It takes just as much energy to give the questioner good advice as it does to flame them and tell them to use the search. A little tolerance goes a long way, we were all beginners here once.
