the "once and for all!" topic

What? You can only get a resource from a worked hill!? That changes my entire strategy... but until I get some evidence or something, then I won't change my strategy of mining every hill I see in my land

#146: Forum threads, here or anywhere will eventually be derailed and completely off topic by the time it reaches 5 pages.

@ stylesrj : check the mine-contextmenu
a mine has low (very low) chances of "popping" one of ressources you need to mine (bronze, iron, alu, coal, uranium, silver, gold, gems). however, I wouldn't change the strategy for that. I merely wanted to express that my workers had nothing else to do (no farmchains yet).

well then, i'll stop that since it's no use... :D
I just love popping ressources. In LHC XI, I popped 2 sources of copper :goodjob:

#147 Even at 2-1 odds and better promotions Calvary can't be counted on the beat Riflemen.

So I'll stop mining every darned hill I see... ok then... I'll only mine them if it's a forest I do not want to spread

#148. Forest Preserves do not just spread forests next to it. They also increase the spread of a forest you don't want to spread a few tiles away. This is really annoying when you got a few empty tiles with no forests and you want your forests to go there so you can preserve it for your national park, only to find out that forest over there next to those railroads just spreaded

#149 Some Units/Civs/Leaders are better than others. That doesn't make them overpowered.

The reason why you guys think Civ4 is the best game ever is because that's all you play. But if you spend time with other games, you will notice that they're better.

Or could that be: the reason you guys only play Civ4 is because it's the best game ever.

Its for sure the most addictive game ever, whether that equals best is probably like arguing the benefits of alcohol over heroin ;) :mischief:

Wow, this is insulting! I've played HUNDREDS of computer games and board games, I don't think there are many games better than Civ IV.

Not everyone agrees with your opinions, you should learn that!

The description says you have a chance to discover ressources. It doesn't say you have to work it. I cannot say for sure that the ressources I pop are all from worked hills. Does anyone know for sure?

You have a 1/10000 chance of popping a resource on each mined hill on each turn it is worked. So yes, you have to work it.

Not true. Forest preserves only affect adjacent tiles, and even then only in the cardinal directions (i.e. not diagonally). Remember that forests do still spread on their own, but only at half the chance of preserved ones.

But, why is it that natural spreading forests spread faster than the preserved ones. It's so unfair that some forest I didn't want spreads and my preserved ones don't, even after 50 turns and twice the unpreserved forests 10 tiles away spread...

I know this has already been asked, but can we please sticky this thread? I don't know why but having 3 or 4 of the questions in this thread on the forums at once is driving me crazy.
