Everybody has their own views on the creation of the universe. This thread is dedicated to those who wish to express their opinion on the origin of Life, the Universe and Everything. 42
Are you a Creationist, believing that God created all in seven days? Are you an Evolutionist, convinced that plants and animals were created, destroyed and modified through the process of natural selection? State your side here, but PLEASE do not turn this into a mêlée of viewpoints.

where is the option for "supremely evolved purple cloud beings created us for fun"?

cause that would be evolution and creationism in a way because there would be no god.

I don't know what the first replicating organism was, and I don't think we ever will. I expect the number of viable theories to increase with time however. Since we don't know the specific soup that the life was formed in, different self-replicating molecules would be more likely in different types of perfectly viable soups.

The "Let me tell you a story" serves as the 'other' option.

Since when was evolution an -ism?
Since it was a system of thinking.
You wanna give me a better word?

I take a Theistic Evolutionist approach on this.

im a Christian yet i know much about Darwin's theories, and i have always though of it as option 3
i have heard supporters of evolution alone called Darwinians, before, and according the FF2 spell checker, it is a real word.

The collisions of a series of chemicals is how life formed. Evolution merely describes how life after it already formed has evolved.

I'll say this about the Origin of Life: "I don't know"

I do know there's a Creator, but it seems people like to pretend as if they know everything about how life came to be. I don't know if he used evolution to make his universe or how long it took. I just admit that I don't know.

Since it was a system of thinking.

It's not "a system of thinking" - and evolution doesn't even account for the origin of life. The term you are looking for is "Abiogenesis."

1. What's "evolutionism?" It's not really a term used for modern day scientific theory as far as I'm aware (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolutionism ).
2. Evolution has nothing to do with the origin of life. Where's the option for "Abiogenesis", or "However it happened, it didn't involve God or magic fairies?"
3. I'm not an evolutionist, I'm someone who accepts science.

PS - are we allowed to discuss this? The other thread questioning religion got closed.

I believe God created the universe. Don't bother me with the details.

I'm not going to act like I know, so I'm going to say let me tell you a story, ramble for a few hours, and be on my way. I don't take religion seriously at all, it just seems like a bunch of people pulled something out of there ass and decided to believe it and I'm not going to say evolution either, because I honestly don't know.......
