The Playground Mod

Huh, that's odd. Umm, where are your other mod files? (The Sengoku, Age of Discovery, etc.)

Hmm, what does the "Scenario Search Folders" say in the Scenario Properties box in the mod?

It should say "The Omega Productions", and thus search in that folder, but the screenshot shows it searching the base (unmodded C3C) folder.

I sadly do not have Civ III, but this is simply the most awesome mod concept to be ever made for any game. Ever. I would love it if you ever made a similar mod for Civ IV or V. :goodjob:

Haha, my computer's allergic to pretty. ;)

Also, I have next to no experience to modding IV. Took me long enough to figure out III. I *may* try to figure out V though. Depends on how college treats me in terms of course load.

Also, 2.0 is due within 50 days, so you should get III and play it. ;) It's like $5 off of steam.

Mine is to, go figures. XD

I have little knowledge for modding period, thought I guess V could always be a good start. I'll try to help in any way to port this.

Well, I just might do so once I'm forced to install Steam for CiV.

I'm getting a physical copy of Civ V. I'm an old fashioned gamer who prefers physical copies so I don't have to be wired to the internet to play. And because CDs are pretty. :p

It's taking us until civ5 comes out to finish the civ3 version of this mod; I can only imagine when a civ5 version would be released ("Civ5 Playground Mod completed! Just in time for civ9!":crazyeye:)

I was never able to figure out civ4's modding stuff, although honestly, I didn't really give it that much effort, as most of my modding work was being put into 3. I might give it a shot, if I decide to give up the money to buy civ5 (okay, who am I kidding, of course I will)

Mmm, to be honest, I went on a hiatus with college applications and then adapting to college. Then you did the same. :p

So, I foresee hiatus with grad school applications, and then adapting to grad school. Then adapting to real work, rather than the pseudo-work (that is still rather important, but a lot of waiting around for computers to finish processing stuff doesn't make it feel like work) I do.

when I tried to ply this mod a screen came up which read

Load Error
ERROR READING FILE
Missing entry in "text/Pediaicons.txt":ICON_BLDG_Staff_intelligence _center

this game will now exit

my computer is a windows and is about 2 years old

Did you extract all the folders correctly? (To the Conquests/Scenarios folder?)

Also, just so you know, we're about to release version 2.0, which is a massive improvement over the current version. The deadline is September 21, so only 20 days away..... Oh crap, only 20 days left. Must get back to work.

For now, here is the 1.1 Pediaicons.txt file.

Place the file in the directory, and it should work.

If not, it would be a .biq error, and I'll have to re-upload the .biq. (You're lucky I haven't deleted the ancient versions I have sitting on one of my old flash drives ;) )

Place the file in your Scenarios/The Omega Productions/Text folder.

Hmm.... Trying to go through the reasons this might not be working for you....

A) You didn't get all the files. Did you download both version 1.0, then the 1.1 patch? The 1.1 patch doesn't have all the necessary files, so you'd need to download the full game in 1.0 first, then the patch.

B) Somethings wrong with the extraction. Just to double check, everything's in the Conquests/Scenarios folder, right? You have the folder The Omega Productions, with an Art and a Text folder inside of it?

C) Somethings wrongs with the download. I can't think of any reason it would be messing up, but I'll take a look at it later.

Those are the only possibilities I can think of off the top of my head right now; Blue might have a better idea.

That's pretty much all the possibilities.

Ordinarily, I would re-upload everything, but I have really slow internet at home, so I'd have to use one of the campus computers later. Maybe tomorrow I'll upload everything again.

However, it's not incredibly well balanced, as we didn't put much time into playtesting it, and it was mostly to make sure that we didn't get any errors. 2.0 in 19 days. And since I don't plan to release more patches (because that is just plain annoying), we're thoroughly testing EVERYTHING before we release it.

We've corrected most of the bugs, so all that's left is testing things, and seeing how things behave in game.
