The Pope is dead. He was in hospital, many assumed he was better after leaving but he met JD Vance and that must be a shock for anyone.

Who is next?

Neither of the two guys I want to vote for most are on your list.

Ah, you mean next pope? Up to the college of cardinals.

I think the Pope died of laughter after speaking with Vance. Perhaps the little vermin gave him some kind of speech about principles, and the man, who was in a delicate state, couldn't stand it.

The next Pope could very well be black or the Philippine guy, that would sell a lot of T-shirts in Asia, but a bit less progressive than the diffunt one. Not many chances for Europeans IMO: another Italian after 2000 years would smell a bit like mothballs, too soon for another panzer-pope and Spaniards are perma-banned since the Borgias.

What did Nostradamus say btw?

This pope tried to promote peace, and at least from a distance seemed to be a decent person.
I recall some people here disliking him for that and making fun of him by quoting Stalin about regiments.
Probably the next will be a return to bad form.
Habemus bellum :)

Well, that or you could stop lolly-gagging about your mid-life crisis, Sarin.

Couldn't hope to guess. How do those in the know handicap such things?

That'll be the fourth pope within my lifetime, and I haven't had my mid-life crisis yet. Maybe they should elect someone younger this time...

There were 266 popes in about 2000 years, so the expected lifetime is around 7.5 years. Electing popes who are expected to die in the next 15 years is a feature, not a bug. Even though there are a dozen or so cardinals in their 50ies, they are very unlikely to get elected

I’m always amazed at how once they pick a new pontiff QVC is on the next minute with the T-shirts, caps, and water bottles.
