If you noticed a slowing down in creation for civ3, that is due to positive and negative reasons. Losing to something (to my eyes, but i could not be so wrong i think) clearly inferior in the last pcx contest did not help my creativity either.

Really, i regret having worked on the Hagia Sophia for three hours, only to lose to less worthy stuff. But you have your own way, and i have mine, which is why from now on i will be releasing only one work per month.

Sorry for the small rant, not sure if it is infractable, but i had to say what i think of what these contests have *partly* become.

Kyriakos, do you mean you're doing this for fame, recognition, awards ? Do you expect to be rewarded for the amount of time you've worked on them ? Do you think something that took 3 hours is automatically better than something that took "only" 2 ? Your work is really nice, as you've been told so many times. It would be nice if you weren't asking people to tell it over and over again. Yes, indeed, your work is nice. Does it grow better if I say it twice ?
BTW Balthasar's work is nice too, in an other way, and you shouldn't be insulting it.

Hey Kyriakos,

Don't get down about things. We should all be just doing this for fun. It's nice to win the competitions and put a notch on our belt but in the end people will almost always vote for what they personally use in their own mods. I've seen a lot of graphics by many artists that I thought for sure deserved ultimate victory because of all the work and innovation put into them get voted out of the competitions. You can't blame the voters either. When an artist does something that helps me I feel obligated to vote for that artist's work out of gratitude and not necessarily for an artwork that I have no use for but was done extremely well. However, generally I try to vote based upon the merrit of the art and not just for what helps me personally.

There are many factors in the voting and I wouldn't take too much stock in it. We all know you put a lot of effort and time into your work and you've won a great many competitions yourself. Your work is of the highest quality.

Cheer up mate. Your work is always appreciated, probably more than you realize. :goodjob:

I must say Kyriakos, if you feel your art is under appreciated, you have some severe delusion.
I am not going to validate you, because you know the quality of your work.
But it is childish, and simply rude to insult another artists work.
I'm not going to rant much on the fact that art is subjective. But nobody cares how many hours you put in to it; ultimately it's the end result they admire.
The Segrada Família is no more or less beautiful because it has taken so long to make.

So don't dare to give 'worth' to somebody else's work through comparison to your own the way you have done so.

Hubris was criminalised once Kyriakos.
Remember that.

Sorry, it was a moment of too much pressure. Things are bad here, and well, i am human too.

But there are positive reasons why i am producing less stuff too, the stories being published being one of them :)

The roofs are far better like this. I had been thinking of that color, and you posted this as if you had read my mind :) The materials used by the romans are very close to what is being used in southern France (in Provence, the old Provincia), and the roofs there are more orange than red.
The theatre looks great, and the forum is very nice too :)
