The project with no name yet

I had time to play it a little. There is a city called "Philadelphia"? BTW, the (playable) civs look a bit unbalanced. The Byz are too weak (really no chance for the player) and the Ottomans are too strong (you win very easily with them). I understand that the scenario is for the fall of Byzantium, but it falls so easy and fast! Anyway, great work! I enjoy it! Will comment more tomorrow.

Yes, Philadelphia was in central Anatolia, near Sardeis. The emperor actually sent help to the turkish sultan when he was besieging it.

How many mb's is the whole file?

Well I've won a game as the byz, so it is possible;). I know it's a problem, but I guess you really just have to play at a harder level if it's too easy. I know that's not the best sollution, but I can't figure out how to balance it, so the ai has a chance with the Ottomans.

21,8mb. I think 12-14mb zipped.

1514: Cyprus eliminated. I've got 43% area, 40% pop, 59,964 VP.
1522: Sivasians eliminated.
1602: Cilicia eliminated. 48% area, 45% pop, 70,056 VP.

(Turns per year shot up massively in the final few turns.)

Thanks for the saves:).

Yes I just discovered about the turn today too.

I'll fix it. I plan to release a new test version around the middle of this week, so I need a little help with getting more civs to be in war with the ottomans. So far I grouped Western Beyliks and Eretna with the byzantines, but that seems a little odd. I think I'll change it too the slavs, and call them something else.

Also I still take name suggestions. I'll make a poll soon.

Ok change in plans. I'm not going to release another test version. Instead I'll be finishing the scenario during the weekend. I will (probably) post a name poll on next monday. The scenario should be released during the next week then. As there usually are delays I guess it will be around the following weekend.

Suggestions are still welcomed:)

Some possible titles:

Twilight of Empire
The Rise and Fall of the East
Clash of Empires
Sword of Conquest
Sword of Destiny
Mediterranean Maelstrom

I think the whole idea of a Scenario title is to get people to look at the thread. If the title doesn't pique people's curiousity then they will never get close enough to even play the game. I think this is particularly true with the more obscure topics. Scenarios on World War II or the American Civil War can always count on an automatic look but others can't.

Did someone say "The Rise of the Ottomans" yet? I think that the name should give you a clear idea of what the scenario is about. If you have to click the thread just to see if you're interested, chances are that you can't be bothered.

Many good suggestions:). I really don't care much about the name, so I'll just go with whatever the poll shows.

btw- I think Rise of the Ottomans has already been mentioned, but I'm too lazy to check it now;)

I think it would be cool to throw some Turkish in there, like Ghazwi Uthmani, or Devlet Uthmani.
I think prior posters are correct, Ottomans should be harder to play with, and VP limit should be raised so that the game plays into 1500s or 1600, the Ottoman peak of territorial expansion.

Why not call it "The end of the Middle Ages" and be done with it?

Well the game is really only supposed to go to the 1510'ties. But don't worry the limit is 50000 in the finished version.

I might, just might, make a sequel to this scenario on a map that covers a bigger area and starts where this ends. But I'm not promissing anything.

Twilight of Empire
The Rise and Fall of the East
Clash of Empires
Sword of Conquest
Sword of Destiny
Mediterranean Maelstrom

The City Of The World's Desire.
I think those names are too general and few people will understand what the scen is about...

If I'm allowed to quote myself.

Obvious name suggestions that come to mind are "Twilight of Byzantium", "Heirs of Osman", "Ghazis and Crusaders", and "Pork of the Pope". Well, maybe not the last one. :D
"Twilight of Byzantium" is no doubt the best one from the recognizability PoV.

One might also suggest "Lords of the Horizon", from the title of Jason Goodwin's book about the Ottomans.

"the clash between East and West" or something like that would be a nice title... g'bye! I´m logging off!

This looks great, but I have only one small suggestion to make (without having downloaded it): although R8XFT's Justinian LH is really great, I don't think it would be remotely appropriate for a late Byzantine emperor. They just didn't dress anything like that - big beards and enormous floppy hats were the order of the day. I'm not sure if there's a LH that would be more appropriate, in fact.

Hmm I see your point. How about the Austrian head then? I can't really remember how it looks precisely (or the eye color, blue eyes wouldn't fit).
