Yeah I realised that would probably happen. The Enfield No.2 was a revolver, almost as useful as the plug-in bayonet but slightly less good for shooting, was issued to soldiers attached to the Ulster Defence Regiment not considered to be involved in any actual fighting, which in the late eighties included one staff officer who supposedly knew what he was doing when it came to the subtle art of shooting the right people properly. I was issued one revolver and six rounds of ammunition.

Long story short, after one of the world's best tours never to involve actual combat, it was time to hand the thing in, complete with six rounds. The QM said 'well, there's no point handing the rounds back in (they were phasing out the revolver, and the replacement weapon didn't fit the same .38 rounds) - would you like to fire them off in the range over there?' So I take my weapon, make ready, and pull the trigger six times pointing at a paper target.

To put this in perspective, I can hit the heart on an ace of hearts from twenty metres without time to aim; that's part of the training (or it was then; it's a bit more sophisticated now). The first round misfired, the second round hit the target but was a mile low, the third just dropped out of the barrel and went into the floor, ditto the fifth; the fourth misfired and the last one rather ominously got lodged in the barrel and we had to call an armourer. Thank god I never had to use that in anger.

 But was that the design of the gun, which I understand was in service for a long time, deteriorated ammunition, or a worn out weapon?

Hah, cool story. :goodjob:

I dunno though, the Taig Bastards were pretty bad shots. I'm sure you'd have been grand...

Why would my bum knee act up just before a storm? Drop of baroness pressure?

Bum knee? Baroness Pressure?

I think bum knee may be a reference to a dodgy knee now I think about it, and baroness pressure may be barometric pressure.

I have arthritis in my right knee.

Disregarding the Enfield No.2 (whose story I won't tell unless anyone actually wants to hear it), we're the country that invented the plug-in bayonet.
You live in France?

Who the heck is this guy?

Here's a dumb question, if you peed on the subway tracks would you really get electrocuted? I don't live in a city with a metro so none of those - why don't you try it and find out - responses please.
Only if you close the circuit. So you'd have to stand on one track and piss on the other, or something similarly stupid.

How does on go about editing saved games for Civ 3?

In particular, a way to edit the text of it directly. I'm interested in making the optimal city limit higher in the save so I'm not completely crippled. Corruption's a fun challenge, but too much ruins the game for me.

I post this here because it doesn't quite fit the Technical Support for Civ 3 section's description.
I wouldn't know myself, but I'd suggest PMing Steph. He said something a while back about figuring out how to change the name's of nations during gameplay (so for example, Greece becomes Byzantium, then the Ottoman Empire, then Turkey), so if anyone could work this out it'd be him.
