3) Is accounting anything more than the extremely boring negativity I hear about it online?
From what I know of American accounting qualifications it is very very rules based so if you wanted to continue on and become a CPA you would have to learn off all those rules.

Don't know about college.

I focused on management accounting in college (costing, profitability etc) and went straight into industry as I knew I didn't want to go into practice/audit. This isn't as common in the US afaik.

I did spend some time doing company accounts but I am back doing what I wanted to do and like - project accountant for customers and contracts (of what is left behind during the wind down of the company I work for)

Sugar, although it's somewhat dependent on lifestyle, genetics and diet apart from those stipulations.

I was thinking that since sugars are digested first, combining sugar and fat is a recipe for weight gain.
High Sodium though would give you water retention and make you gain weight quickly.

Question: Is there a way to pop regular corn? Just wondering. My mom had a bunch of old cans of corn in the cupboard and I opened one and dried it out some and put it in a sealed bag and put it in the microwave but the only thing that happened was the bag exploded and it made a mess. I just wanted to see what would happen.

Put it in a small paper lunchbag and it should work. I've done it before.

My mother put regular popping corn in a paper bag and nuked it. And the bag caught on fire and ruined the microwave. I wouldn't recommend that. :crazyeye:

That was a pretty funny post. :goodjob: What I normally do is put it in a big pot with boiling water on the stove, but a paper lunchbag would work too I suppose.

Normal popcorn works fine in the microwave. Put a little in a pyrex bowl, add a little olive oil and seasoning - say salt and cinamon - mix well, put a plate over the top, 1 min max power. Should get a >90% pop rate.

it's paper - it's going to burn

What are regular microwave popcorn bags made of? ;)

I've done it like twice before and that never happened... dunno what you did wrong.

Paper with a plastic lining inside. :p

*Not* just a paper lunch bag....Those oils in the popping mix would absorb into the bag and it would catch fire much more easily. And has popcorn burns if you cook it too long in the microwave anyways, I would use it to begin with.

My parents used to have a device that was similar to the pyrex thing. It looked something like this:

I'm not talking about regular POPcorn. I'm talking about regular corn.

aimee - I suggest you google for the differences between regular corn and popping corn. The answer should be pretty self-evident after that.

OK. So a friend of mine online said she was going to kill herself and I looked up her local police and emailed them. and she is safe now. but now her father forbids her to talk to me and the only way I knew she was safe (and about this) was through somebody else.

why would he do that??? I was only trying to help. seriously she said she had a gun and then she went offline.

did I even do the rigth thing????

We can't possibly understand what is going on in his mind. Maybe he blames you for this somehow. You'd have to ask him why he's upset. Probably best to wait for a while before asking.

As for doing the right thing, most people would probably say 'Yes'. But that doesn't really matter. What matters is if *you* thought you did the right thing.

I can't ask him because I have no way to contact him.

Yeah you did the right thing. Her Dad sounds like a dick.
